What is faith?

Updated on June 7, 2011

The Bible describes faith as, “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Heb 11:1).
How does this apply to your life? Have you learned that you don’t need to see something to know that it’s there?
Let me use an easy example: When the sun rises every morning the new day has begun, right? No, actually the new day starts at 1 second past midnight and although it’s dark outside and you can’t see the new day yet, it’s there. The apostle Paul emphasized this so beautifully when he said, “for we walk by faith, not by sight;” (2 Cor 5:7)”
So you see my friend it is not about what you can see, but about what you believe!

Now here is something even more amazing. Jesus said, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours.”(Mark 11:24) WOW! Why did He say that? He said it to emphasize not only the power of prayer (James5:16), but even more so to emphasize the power of faith.

How can your faith have power? Firstly God is moved by your faith; “without faith it is impossible to please God, for the one who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who diligently search for him.” (Heb11:6)

Secondly Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' if he doesn't doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.” (Mark11:23)

It is important to note that Jesus said, “if everyone says to this mountain”.
Can you speak to a mountain? Yes you can. Actually you should do just that. Speak to your mountain of financial problems and tell it to go away and be replaced by financial independence and abundance and it will. So to should you speak to your mountain of unemployment, family problems etc.

And when God gives you a vision because of your faith, you need to know that vision does not live in the realm of possibility! You have to stop thinking about what you can do; it has nothing to do with what you can do. It has everything to do with what God said you can do! You need to break free from the boundaries of natural thinking, because if you can’t see a future you won’t have it!

In closing, my friend, I just wanted to remind you there are many that pray only for blessings and their daily needs, but those who believe in God and have faith won’t even have to ask

Ps 127:2 “It is useless to work so hard for a living, getting up early and going to bed late. For the LORD provides for those he loves, while they are asleep.”
Phil 4:19“And my God will fully supply your every need according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”

Be Blessed!!!!!
