Remaining In Jesus Through Mary

Updated on June 21, 2020

“Remain in me, as I remain in you, says the Lord; whoever remains in me will bear much fruit” ~ John 15:4

I’d like to focus today’s reflection on this notion of “remaining in Jesus,” a theme we revisit in today’s Gospel (John 15:1-8). In this narrative, Jesus reveals Himself to be the true vine, with God assuming the role of vine grower, and we as the mystical body of Christ (1 Cor 12:12-31; Col 1:18; 2:18-20; Eph. 1:22-23; 3:19; 4:13) serving as the branches. If this passage sounds familiar, you’re doing a wonderful job of bringing sacred scripture into your life, as this is in fact the very same Gospel that was read this past Sunday.

So how do we remain in Christ, so that Christ may remain in us and therefore allow us to bear much fruit?

There are numerous ways of course, but I’d like to share with you a reflection I read last night in The Consecration Preparation For the Triumphant Victory of the Immaculate Heart of Mary**, a daily devotional that I just came across that Catholics traditionally read during the month of May, a month during which we focus on our relationship with and the veneration of our Eternal Blessed Mother Mary.

In this reflection, our Blessed Mother likens our souls to a prism, one which was created and designed by God to reflect God. I’ll share the reflection with you in its entirety because it’s powerful:

“Dear children, the act of consecration to my Immaculate Heart is just as I speak it. It is an act and not merely words. I rejoice that your hearts are realizing this. I tell you, your hearts are a window to your soul; the Act of Consecration opens this window. Your souls is like a prism, it is designed by God to reflect Him. If there are impurities in this prism, it cannot reflect the glory that was intended. To bring clarity to the soul, you must pray. Only through prayer may all impurities be dissolved. Look into my heart, dear ones, for when you gaze in, you shall only receive the Trinity. I can only reflect the presence of God to you. Listen my children, I assure you, open your hearts to receive the light of God. Allow only him to be reflected in you.”

Beautiful words authored From the very depths of the most immaculate heart of the Queen of Heaven. Let us seek Jesus through the pristine and sunless Heart of Mary, for she is the gateway to the divine graces of His Sacred Heart.

Oh Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.

** The Consecration Preparation for the Triumphant Victory of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is based on a reported private revelation whose supernatural character has not been approved by the local authorities. However, it has received Ecclesiastical approval as a Prayer Book under Canon Law 826/Paragraph 3. **
