Demons Have Us Outnumbered....But Not Outgunned

Is a church a safe place?

Demons have us outnumbered....

What do we know about Satan and demons? It may surprise you that we know quite a bit.

Based on the fall of Satan (the name means adversary) he was accompanied by a third part of the spirits in heaven, all sent to earth when they were cast out.

That means that there remained with Heavenly Father another two thirds, including Jesus, and those of us who have come to earth after the one third were cast out.

As those of us who have bodies (the others do not, though the Bible indicates that some have needed to be cast out of humans) as humans are at any given time only a fraction of the two thirds which remained in heaven, we must conclude that the mortals who live on earth at any given time are far outnumbered by Satan and his demons.

We can conclude that adding up everyone who has been born and lived, however briefly, are part of the two thirds., Some would maintain that aborted births could be included in the total.

At any given time then the living, breathing, inhabitants of earth must be far outnumbered by the demons, making earth a dangerous place for the righteous to dwell.

If we also presume that the spirits which were cast down may have known the other two thirds prior to the "war" in heaven, then they may know things about us which might help them in their efforts to lead us astray.

If we stopped the discussion at this point, that could be a very troubling circumstance, but let's look at our human side based on scriptures from the Bible. Here are a few:

In Matthew 4:1-11 we are told that Jesus can command Satan and that Satan departed, as he was commanded to do. In Matthew 4:24 Jesus not only heals physical and mental illnesses, but also heals those possessed with demons, and in Matthew 8:28-34 there is the recorded healing of two who are healed of demons and the demons were full of fears and asked why Jesus had come to torment them.

Mark also speaks of demons in 1:32-34 and 1:39. Luke comments in 4:1-13, and in 10:17 he recounts that a large group of disciples of Christ marveled that "even the demons submit to us in your name", while in Luke 11:21-22 Christ spoke of his ability to bind Satan.

That certainly does not mean that Satan is powerless as Peter made clear in 1 Peter 5:8.which states "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:"

Why are we here?

In Romans 16:20 we are told "And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly,"

In 2 Peter 5: it is written: "But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you."

If the holy scriptures teach us anything it is to avoid becoming involved in seeking out demonic practices and anything to do with the occult or their spirit world. Do remember that those cast down to earth are seeking you out, but they have no power when you live so that God is at your side.

A church building serves its purpose....so also is the righteous human body a temple to be holy and preserved as such.

John 2:19, and 1 Corinthians 3:16, and what follows, speak first of Christ's holy body as being a temple, while Paul speaks to us that ours should be also.
