Depth Of Darkness
My Blind Harmonium Teacher - A Memory
So, it was then when I used to be a micro kid, I don’t remember exactly, but mostly I was studying in 2nd or 3rd standard.
I used to have a harmonium teacher who was blind, but he could touch one’s soul the way he used to play. It always made me wonder if he could really not see as he was so expert in playing harmonium, he never made any mistake finding a right key and he used to travel all by himself. I still remember he was tall, thin and used to wear black glasses and had a walking stick that was the only helper he had and the best thing was that he always had this positive smile on his face, I clearly have his picture in my mind. I hope I had a hard copy and could share it here.
So one day, out of curiosity, I asked my mom, Mama, how does he manage to play so well without seeing? He has no one so how does he really take care of himself? How does he walk by himself and why doesn’t he fall down if he can’t see? How is it all possible? I bombarded her with all the questions I had in my mind.
And the reply my mom gave to me not just opened my eyes but also awoke my inner vision and senses too. She said, the people without eyes see more than the people who have eyes because their other senses (the inner one and the spiritual one) are so strong that they can even sense a main-hole/ gutter in front of them and stay safe, so never say that they can’t see because they see from inside and what they can see with the vision they have you might not in spite of having eyes. That day I got to know about the inner vision which was very deep for me though I was still wondering and confused as for my age it was a little heavy stuff.
My mom's answer made me even more curious and it got stuck in my mind so since then I started observing this fact more closely and the understanding started increasing with the same speed as my height.
The more I went ahead the more I found out and the more I found the more I wondered which raised a question in my mind that when you go into the deep, so it gets dark, so is it like that deep people are dark as well? But then I looked at the same place for the answer from where the question arrived, the darkness and I didn't just find the answer to this question but also got the real meaning of what my mom told me back then.
The answer I found:
The deeper you go the darker it gets and vice verse, so true, but it doesn’t make you dark instead gives you an insight because the deeper it gets, there the lightning you find and eventually you reach somewhere which is silent, peaceful, and hollow. Where you can actually feel an echo. It feels like away from this outer world, a place where you get to see everything so clear which you can’t see with your open eyes and mind shouting. Same way the blind people's world is not really dark but deep which gives them an enchanting insight.
