Did God Create Male and Female?

Updated on May 19, 2016

Created as Man and Woman?

Something Ain't Right

So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.~Genesis 1:27

Growing up it was a signature gag; the beginning of televised potty humor. An adult male, either misled or not paying attention, walked into the women's restroom to the tune of shrieks and sounds of purses being thrown and women battering the male intruder. He never just waltzed out of the bathroom unscathed, but with a face full of scratches and bruises. He typically collapsed nigh outside the door of the bathroom. The point was clear: Men don't belong in the women's restroom. Somewhere along the way, we forgot about that.

We have come a long way since the days when common sense was respected, if not acted upon. And when I say we've come a long way...I wish I could even say we've gone backwards, but more like into an alternate dimension where up is green and down is string cheese. The fact that we are even having the discussion about who should use what restroom is insulting to the collective intellect of our nation, our culture (I'm not even talking about tradition), and to reality.

Whether you believe in God or not you ought to have the self-respect to call it as it is. A man, bearing the male genitalia, is a man. A woman, bearing the female genitalia, is a woman. PERIOD. If you feel like you are a man trapped in a woman's body or a woman trapped in a man's body, please, seek psychological assistance. And I don't mean that as a slam, I truly believe there is something misfiring in your brain to cause this confusion. If you just like to dress like the opposite sex, I'm not comfortable with it, but by all means you have that right in this country. my concern is that we have 50 year old men who dress and act like 6 year old girls because they, honest to their Creators, believe they are a 6 year old girls. This is not cute. It is not a preference. Believing that you are something that you biologically are not is lunacy; outright lunacy!

How the Blazes Did We Get Here?

Last June a landmark ruling was made by the Supreme Court. It was declared that it was unconstitutional to ban same-sex marriage. This opened up the floodgates for same sex couples to get married in states where votes conducted by the people struck down the proposal to legalize same-sex marriage time and time again. Those in the church cited a famous Scripture from Genesis in hopes to keep the minds and hearts of fellow believers on the right path: "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh" (2:25).

This Scripture should not be controversial or offensive. It states a religious belief of the Christian faith that makes sense out of the reality that there are two sexes within the human race and that they are designed to come together to create life. The man is designated as a husband and the woman is designated as a wife in a committed relationship; yes I've heard all of the arguments that not all couples are procreative, but let's suspend our arguments concerning exceptions to the rule to at least acknowledge that this was the original intention according to the Bible. If you do not believe in the Bible, it used to be sufficient to argue that there are men and that there are women. Women do not bring forth life without men and men do not bring forth life without women. Thus the two sexes need one another and these marital relationships between men and women, procreative or not, have preserved the human race for the past 6,000 years (even if you are not a young earth creationist). The commitment between a man and a woman is practical, sanitary, and necessary for the human race's existence. Just a measly 9 or 10 months after the Supreme Court ruling we can't even argue this point on the basis that there are men and there are women. If you attempt this, you will be met with the counterargument, "Who are you to tell me what gender I am?" Exsqueeze me? Who am I to tell you what gender you are? How about, "Who are you to tell me that you are not the gender that you are?"

Genesis 2:25 is a Scripture that lays down the foundation for human civilization. Men love women and women love men in such a way that they both will strive forward to ensure the survival of one another and their offspring. There are other Scriptures that solidify the inherent immorality of homosexuality according to the design of God, but once those start to come up, all sorts of crazy counterarguments also surface. Face it, human civilization would not exist today if there was not a man and a woman who engaged in sexual intercourse to bring forth offspring that eventually resulted in you. It could have happened with no other combination of sexes and remain a natural process of procreation. All Christians who took the Bible seriously knew there would come a day that we would need to defend the sanctity of marriage through Genesis 2:25. What we never anticipated was having to defend the sanctity of our sexual identities according to Genesis 1:27.

The argument has evolved from using "God created them male and female" for the sake of stating that marriage was meant to be between a man and a woman to being a defense for the reality that God created individuals with a specific sexual identity that is defined through his or her physical characteristics. Instead of rejecting the sexual identity that God has given us, we should embrace it! Politics has played a huge role in getting us here, so we ought not forget that the majority of Americans do not believe that dudes should be allowed to use the chicks' restroom under any circumstances.

Those Wacky Politicians

Truth be told, the Democratic Party is exhausting their voting base. All of their agendas support the notion that we need to reduce the number of people living on our planet to prevent it from being overpopulated. For instance, most African Americans vote Democrat, but the Democratic pro-abortion doctrine has effectively wiped out an entire generation of African American voters. Unfortunately for Democrats, Republican voters don't buy into their nonsensical causes and continue to procreate.

Republican voters stand against virtually everything Democrats stand for. Where Democrats are pro-abortion, Republicans are pro-life. In taking this stance, Republicans ensure the possibility that the children of their voting base will vote for them. Where Democrats are pro-gay marriage, Republicans are pro-traditional marriage. Once again, Republican voters procreate, Democrats do not. Democratic ideology discourages large families. Republicans have a strong base of Conservative Catholic families who produce about 20 children per couple. The Democratic voting base is in shambles. So, what do they do?

They have to recruit more voters. Last June, they locked in the votes of gays who desire to get married. This May, they locked in the votes of the transgender community. Back in the days of Reagan, they locked in 2-3 million illegal Mexican votes by granting them amnesty; on that note, did you know Reagan won California? Did you know that Democrats pushed for the motion to grant millions of illegals amnesty? When was the last time a Republican Presidential candidate won California? Does it make sense, now, why the Democrats wanted to grant amnesty to those illegals? Anyway, Democrats literally kill off their voting base requiring them to recruit voters. Today, our President is doing this at the expense of our civilization.

Obama Throws Like Girl

This infamous photo might provide insight concerning Obama's sympathy toward transgenders. He attempts to dress like a man, but far too much evidence suggests that he is a woman. It's okay, Barry, use whatever restroom you want.
This infamous photo might provide insight concerning Obama's sympathy toward transgenders. He attempts to dress like a man, but far too much evidence suggests that he is a woman. It's okay, Barry, use whatever restroom you want.

How to Fix the Problem

I am a big believer in freedom. If you believe you are a woman but are physically a man, more power to you. If you are a woman who wants to use the men's restroom...I think you are insane, but more power to you. I do not believe that the preferences of the minority should be imposed on the majority, nor do I believe that the minority ought to be oppressed for the sake of the discomfort of the majority (not that I believe this is legitimate in this case, but whatever).

The solution is to allow the free market to figure it out. If Target wants to engage in this experiment to allow men and women access to one another's restroom, they should be allowed to do so. In terms of public schools, I disagree because the schools are part of the public sector. Thus the regulations of the schools should be determined by each respective state. Private schools, on the other hand, should have every right to allow boys and girls and chimps and dogs and cats and newts and owls and fish and sliced cheese to use the same restroom.

The beauty of the free market solution is that it resolves things without the interference of the government. Allowing everyone to use the same restroom might be a brilliant move on behalf of Target. It might increase their sales ten-fold. Or, it might destroy their business. Either way, they should be free to make that choice. Likewise, Hobby Lobby should have the right to say that men use one room and women use the other. It might prosper their business and it might ruin their business.

The counterargument to this is that maybe stores could start discriminating against different groups of people. They might say that they won't sell to black people or bake cakes for gay weddings. My sentiment is, go ahead. Let businesses make stupid decisions! In relation to African Americans, I think most people would protest against businesses in this day and age that refuse service to African Americans; that is, if they don't go out of business first. In relation to baking gay wedding cakes, there are many businesses across America that will not only bake the cake but cater the wedding as well. It's not like there is some sort of epidemic of bakeries refusing services to gays.

The truth is that the federal government does not want people making decisions on their own. They want to seize private property and allocate resources to people that they think deserve them. Hillary Clinton already stated the latter half of that statement. It's no secret.

Conclusion

Just the fact that we are having a discussion about transgender bathrooms is ridiculous. It is a sign that we have become a depraved culture that has lost touch with reality. I am really impressed with how many people think that either men should be allowed to use the women's restroom or that this is not an issue worth fighting over. Abortion wasn't worth fighting over. We lost. Gay marriage wasn't worth fighting over. We lost. I want to at least have the right to plant my rear upon the last bastion of public manliness and not have to worry about the person in the stall beside me wearing too much perfume. Is that too much to ask? Is this a battle worth fighting?

      Hey Bill,

Fpher's comment is not showing. Did she make another personal attack and get banned again? The atheists seem to be going down like flies lately (Fpher,Austinstar, Thomas Swan, Tessa Schlesinger). It seems that now Link10103 is temporarily banned, but threatening to leave permanently.

Maybe if they would learn some morals, they wouldn't get banned so much.

Fpher, I appreciate your compliments and the thought you put into your post. I will say the difference with elevators is that they have cameras where bathrooms do not. There is no true privacy in an elevator and I've personally never heard of rape occurring in an elevator, though I am sure it has happened.

What I would like to challenge you to do is to question the political component of this. Why don't they just mandate a single stall restroom to be in installed with locking doors. We are talking about 1/10 of 1% of population. 1 stall will be sufficient. Ask yourself, "why does the government want the right to tell businesses and schools how they need to designate their restrooms?" I appreciate the comment and the tone that you used.

TS, you really don't get it or you're failing miserably at raising a straw man then trying to argue against it. People aren't worried that someone with different genitals from their own might use the same bathroom, they are worried that perverts will claim they are transgender to get off on watching little girls or women in bathrooms and school locker rooms which include toilets. If you don't understand that then I'd wonder if you aren't a pervert.

I am really upset. My six year old son does not put up the toilet seat when he pee pees. Mom is an enabler and just laughs and cleans the seat. Consideration when using a toilet is important to me. It may be very strange but I am nearing 60 and I don't think I have ever seen a man poop. I just never considered to watch.

I go hiking. No not just like for an hour, for days. We dig a hole over there and we never leave paper behind. Poop and pee are organic but never put them in a small stream or where someone might see it.

I got 3 older sisters and of course a mom and I have been happily married twice - loving it. I have never watched one of these ladies pee or poop. Sure they do it in my toilet but why in the hell would I watch them?

I reckon that there are Biblical principals at stake here. Shoot there always are. I confess I just peed on my Bougainvillea I hope that Hummingbird did not mind my exposure.

I think I will pray and ask Jesus next time I have to pee and see if it is OK.

Really? People care about poo poo and pee pee?

A bit of advice. Have a good bowel movement every day. Colon cancer is a killer.

preacherbill...First let me say that I truly enjoy your writing style. More than this, I can appreciate a subtle vein of humor and you surely have provided such. I admit I have reached a point where I can't help but look for the "humor" in this ......(shall we call it an "issue?")

Some of us have no problem following 1-2-3--A-B-C, without calling in the magicians to create some way (ANY way) to argue and/or attempt to prove otherwise. Myself? I'm not that energetic nor do I have the time available to oppose simple, undeniable, point blank FACT. Like you mention in some form, it's rather shocking as well as insulting that any of us require reminders for certain well-established facts~such as~ "there are women & there are men."

I have offered up my opinion on this "new" discussion regarding public rest room usage. I always preceded with an apology for the fact that I base my opinion on common sense & my own decades of personal experience with public restrooms. I know common sense is not acceptable these days, but hey, I'm old-fashioned.

Oddly, I have more often than not seen that the individuals who use public restrooms are pretty much the same as those who step into an elevator. 95% of the time, people do not look at one another at all or perhaps just a quick glance. VERY seldom do people speak, except to possibly say, "Excuse me." From one floor to the next it's silence with people exiting or entering the elevator. All these folks want to do is keep moving. That's it.

We all know the common use for restrooms. And basically that use is all a person intends. "IF" we look at one another at all, it takes but a second to clearly SEE a male or female. As a woman, call me silly, I want only women in the woman's rest room. If I must defend this, fine, here goes: I do not, have never nor ever intend to share my private bathroom space & time with the opposite sex....even IN MY OWN HOME.OK, that's just me. Going even further on a personal level, my sister & I have respected the privacy of one another. (I know this is going too far, but this was our practice) Please do not report us.

In terms of "transgenders"....If the "person" entering the woman's rest room, visibly & CLEARLY appears to be female, we have no choice but to accept it is a woman. Shall anyone ASK them to prove it? No. Are we checking birth certificates? No. it passes as a non-issue. The same I would imagine goes for men & their restrooms. A trans who LOOKS like a man would cause no commotion.

This sounds like a case of "What we do NOT know, cannot hurt us." That's exactly what it is. A "problem" can easily arise if & when the opposite occurs.....eg, a man who merely identifies as a woman, but still from head to toe in outer appearance, is a MAN.

Now I realize many people will disagree with me~~argue~~call me names~~I'll deal with that.

For the few times we use a public restroom and the whole 5 minutes it takes us to use it......I have no idea what all the mass fuss & controversy is all about. I see NO reason for LAWS or threats or warnings or the spreading of paranoia. I'm just that simplistic.

I just want to be happy not KNOWING for certain if the woman in the rest room with me has or does not have male genitalia under his/her expensive skirt. I doubt either of us really care. We simply both want to "go."

Heaven help us all. It won't change me to tell me I'm "crazy." This entire issue is NUTS, so that would just mean that I fit right in!

And, titen, you want to pretend to know what Jesus taught...I thought the words of the bible didn't mean anything to you...make up your mind. Is the bible relevant or not. If it is, you better learn what the whole thing says or you will butcher all of the teachings as you have that of turning the other cheek.

Likening public bathrooms to the bathroom on someone's home? There is no comparison. Likewise with single bathrooms with locking doors. This is the type of madness I talking about. I'm not asking you to believe the bible. But one moment there is mass hysteria on university's over rape and now we are telling girls to get over their fear of men in their restrooms...illogical madness.

The point is that only in places where there are two bathrooms do people get worried that someone with different genitals from their own might use the same bathroom. An absurd and irrational fear if ever there was one.

"Most peoples' homes are like this" ~TS ?

I don't know of any home that invites strangers of the opposite biological sex to join them in their bathroom, lol, doubt if there are any who wish to go to the bathroom in their own home with their relatives of the opposite sex even if they are married. As absurd as the rest of your discussion!

Fretting and debating about mundane issues like who uses a toilet is facile and petty considering larger unanswered social issues such as indigenous genocide for example. No one is taking to the streets about such important issues but are willing to spend inordinate amounts of time getting upset about who uses the can.

The universe/ God uses postive and negative principles to create but Itself is neither.

The entire idea of gender segregated bathrooms is based on embarrassment and fear to begin with. There are plenty of places that don't have two bathrooms built, they only have one bathroom, most people's homes are like this, many smaller stores/buildings only have one bathroom. Nobody seems to mind this. But, when there are little signs on the door suddenly it's scary, suddenly we can't just let people use whatever bathroom they feel most comfortable in.

I don't know, or care, where most people stand on the whole transgender phenomenon. Nor do I know, or care, what gender the people in the bathroom with me might identify as. Live and let live because when you gotta go you gotta go. The hysteria that this issue has already needlessly caused is ridiculous.

"Whether you believe in God or not you ought to have the self-respect to call it as it is. A man, bearing the male genitalia, is a man. A woman, bearing the female genitalia, is a woman. PERIOD."

More accurately we label those with two X chromosomes female, that is a designation we made up to differentiate them from those of us with one X and one Y chromosomes (ie men). It is the chromosomes, not the genitalia, that are important here.

" but let's suspend our arguments concerning exceptions to the rule to at least acknowledge that this was the original intention according to the Bible."

The real question is why should I consider the Bible, which also says that I can own slaves and even beat my slaves if they disobey to be authoritative or relevant as a guide for 21st Century American law?

I understand that Christians believe this book to be relevant, or at least they cherry-pick the parts they believe to still be relevant and ignore the gruesome parts that secular moral philosophy and the rise of pluralistic democratic society has had to pry away from them piece by pain-staking piece - but why should I take it seriously and why should it be allowed to have any influence on our laws?

"Private schools, on the other hand, should have every right to allow boys and girls and chimps and dogs and cats and newts and owls and fish and sliced cheese to use the same restroom."

It's hard to tell how much of this is all meant to be humor and whether you are actually trying to make any point.

"I am really impressed with how many people think that either men should be allowed to use the women's restroom or that this is not an issue worth fighting over."

Of course it isn't worth fighting over. Gender segregated bathrooms are entirely pointless and based on outdated societal mores that protect only from a sense of embarrassment or unnecessary paranoia.

A toilet is a toilet, a place to use the restroom is a place to use the restroom, does it really matter what genitals the people around you have? Makes no sense to me whatsoever. I'm busy doing my, well, business, in the bathroom, I don't care at all what the genitals of those around me look like or what the people around me identify as - that's THEIR BUSINESS and it's THEIR FREEDOM to use whichever bathroom they feel most comfortable in.

"Just a measly 9 or 10 months after the Supreme Court ruling we can't even argue this point on the basis that there are men and there are women."

And then there are transgender people. You can click your heels together and wish them away or you can just do what I do and shrug your shoulders and move on with your life and let them try to deal with their own lives.

I think there's was a guy once, somewhere in the middle east, who espoused a similar attitude. He was always talking about turning the other cheek... and not pointing out the speck in your brother's eye unless you'd first dealt with the log in your own.

I think he said something about tolerating the requests of people as well, if someone asks for your shirt you're supposed to give them your tunic as well. It's almost as if this guy was all about peace, tolerance and the fact that the Kingdom of God was coming anyway so there was no reason to be a self-righteous dick like all the Sadducee and pharisees of his day...

Jewish guy I think, shame I can't remember his name...
