Discernment- How To Take God's Lead

Discernment | How To Take God's Lead On Video

Led By God

I was talking to my friend the other day and I was telling him about when I was lost driving around recently. I told him that God said to me "what way does it feel like you should go"?

I stressed to him that "we don't go by feelings (happy, sad &etc) but discernment". Even though God had ask what way it felt like I should go- He wanted me to sense which way His Spirit was leading me. Well I did follow His Spirit correctly this time & found my way out.

My friend still was caught up on this feeling thing and not understanding what I meant by discernment. I continued to give him more examples.

God can even take it down to go left, right or straight in the direction and guidance He gives.

I have been driving before and passed a person or people that God brought my attention to and God would make them stick in my head like a photo. And at the same time I would hear God saying go back and talk to them about Jesus. This too is discernment- to be able to know and recognize the voice of God. They would always accept Jesus as their Lord when God told me to stop.

Once I was driving up a road to take a delivery and God told me "turn left here" and I didn't listen. I wasn't even thinking of is it God or me- I really didn't seem to care because I was busy at the moment. So I continued up the side road and heard at the next stop sign "you can still turn left". I didn't listen- I could of because their was many different routes to this delivery.

Before I got much further up a lady in an suv backed out of her driveway with her vision blocked from the cars parked on the road and hit me. God was warning me but I failed to listen. I will not fail to remember the lesson learned.

We continued to talk about discernment and finally I told him that he already has discernment from God and has went by God's leading/discernment given before and didn't know it.

Do you remember when you could and can sense dark spirits on a person and knew by God giving you discernment to stay away from them? He said "yes".

Or when you woke up in the middle of the night and looked out your window and saw the spirit of death in the back yard? This to was God waking you up and you discerned and was led by God to look out the window and pray that evil spirit away. This was God leading him.

Have you ever went into a place and sensed it wasn't safe and knew to get out of there quickly or not to enter in to begin with?

He said "yes". This too is the discernment of God that he gives us by His Holy Spirit.

I reminded him of the time he had talked to a neighbor woman that was visiting his ex-roommate and he'd told her about Jesus and was attempting to lead her to accept Jesus as her Lord. She got mad and left quickly.

The next day she returned crying and sobbing. Than He led her to accept Jesus as her Lord. The very next day she was found dead sitting up in a bus.

I told him God is the one that told you to talk to her - that he had discerned it as the voice of God and obeyed. Because he discerned and obeyed God this woman's life was changed for eternity. This is discernment to know the voice of God. Do you want to know what even adds to this event? He has hardly ever led anyone to Jesus before and can be very difficult when God is telling him to do certain things to put it simple. So this was an unusual thing for him to do.

I remind you all ask God to lead you by His Holy Spirit in Jesus name - God is faithful.

Listening To God

God once gave me a little learning lesson on listening to him when he tells me to do something. I was delivering pizzas and was at a light in the turn lane and I heard God say "back up". I looked around and I couldn't tell why he wanted me to back up.Their wasn't any cars behind me or in front of me.

God than said " you still have time to back up". I didn't listen because when I looked around again- I still didn't see why I needed to listen. Than here comes a semi truck- big and black turning right. I had to back up to let this truck turn. God than said "you don't need to know why I am telling you to do something before you do it". This is a lesson I'll never forget because I know than I wasn't in any danger- but this was a lesson to keep me safe in the midst of danger at later times.Trust God he will never forsake you.

God has showed me pictures of various items at different times broken and told me move it or it will get broke, or something else undesirable. I wasn't listening on a lot of this stuff and these items ended up broken or my cat did something to it and worse case scenario something more serious would happen. God warned me about these things too. This is a lesson in discernment also- but at the very beginning of God showing me these types of things I thought it was just me and my thoughts- but it was God warning me about even the smallest of things. Now I know by knowing & recognizing the voice of God to listen and obey in the future.

My friend ask "How do I know if it's me or God?"

I told him 1st God will never contradict His word. Satan will never tell you to lead someone to Jesus. Satan will never tell you to give. Satan doesn't tell us to do good but opposite sin and disobey God.

Our thoughts come from us, God and satan. Have you ever been under pressure and you were trying to do the right thing and even thinking about it and at the same time you have this yakking in your ear that was contrary to the word of God? That was you're thoughts and satan going at the same time. In this case you tell satan to leave in Jesus name and you won't listen to but the voice of God/ the good shepard you listen to.

Or how about this your in some trying situation and the word of God comes to your mind over and over when you aren't even thinking about it- or even trying. This is God bringing you into remembrance of His word and the Bible says that the Holy Spirit will cause you to remember all things.

Have you ever without any effort had a slide show of your past and past hurts go through your mind with photos and all and it was attempting to upset you and bring the past things up- to stir them up when you had already forgiven it and left it behind? This is satan not you.

I told him of how my pastor told me to know if it's God by seeing it out- not doing something wrong. Example: I once went for a job as a car sales person and they told me to come back in a month. I heard God- I thought it was God say "don't even bother". I really wanted this job and didn't want to waste my time if they weren't going to hire me- but I waited to see if I had heard God or not. I went back 30days later and they weren't hiring and I was led by them to believe I could have a job their- but God was speaking to me I found in the end of this.

Another thing is to be led by your peace. My friend ask how do you do that? Example of how the pastor taught me about be led by my peace- he used one of my own situations to get me to know and pay attention to when I lost my peace and how it felt. I had a girl with me that I had brought to church and was talking to her about this lady that I was going to have watch my kids for me. She than told me "oh no! you don't want her to watch your kids because she will smack your kids & more." I went back into church quickly and talked to the pastor about it. He ask me "how did you feel when you heard this?" I said "it felt like my heart dropped into my stomach". Pastor said "that's what it feels like when you lose your peace."

Examples, Times When God Clearly Was Speaking

Another example of God's leading: My husband used to deliver pizza and one time he'd pulled up into this house driveway for a delivery and heard God say "back out now". He listened without getting out of his car. As he was backing out 5 or more young men/teenagers were coming out from behind the house to attempt to rob hi. God had him one step ahead of the enemies plan. If my husband wouldn't of recognized the voice of God and listened- who knows how far this robbery would have went. Some people have died being robbed as a pizza driver.

Here's another time to show you how awesome, trustable & good our God is. I was at work delivering pizzas of course and I was working at a different location that was not in the area I lived but still not more than about a 10-15 detour. I kept hearing go home over and over for maybe 20 minutes. So I called home to see if everything is all right. It ring busy- so now I really had to go home and see what was going on. I did go home. No one was their. The phone was left on- so that's why it was busy.

I checked the house and I found a lamp turned on with a stuffed animal on top of the shade almost touching the bulb in my boys bedroom. If I wouldn't of listened to God my house that I was renting would of burned down and we had no insurance on it or the things we owned. My kids and husband had ran out of the house so excited about seeing a movie and didn't pay attention.

God leads us in many different ways, Speaking to us, visions, dreams, direct warnings, he uses all of our senses eyes (seeing visions, dreams, demons & angels), ears, smell (some people can smell evil spirits), the ability to feel his presence and or the enemies. Also lets not leave out he will send people to us strangers and those we know to confirm His word/instructions. Be very sensitive to God's leading- for he leads us in peace and in the path of righteousness.

This is the way, walk ye in it

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1

And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, Phil 1:9-10

But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil. Heb 5:14

14I (Jesus) am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

15As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

16And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. John 10

My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. ... Prov 3:1-6:35

And your ears shall hear a word behind thee-a voice will be sounding in your ears, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left-This is the way in which you are to go.. Is 30:21

For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. Isaiah 41:1

Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever. Dan 12:3

I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them. IS 42:16

So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed. IS 28:16
