Do You Believe In Heaven Above ?

Near Death Experience and Heaven

When I was pregnant with my third child I became very sick. At the time I was only seven or eight weeks pregnant. I knew I was pregnant and I dismissed my nausea and lack of an appetite to the early, normal symptoms of pregnancy. On this particular June morning, I tried to go in to work, but after two bouts of dizziness and a strange ache around my upper back shoulder area, I decided to leave and try to get back home to rest. My body must be tired, and with the new addition coming, I just needed some rest.

I got home and my husband was home. I remembered that he was between jobs. A strange set of events had happened at his brand new job. In three days time at work, he had three incidents at his new job. Unheard of in his world. It just doesn't make any sense, since he was "Mr. Accident Free" at his prior job. This new job had let him go because of these three incidents. When I got home, he was in the bedroom playing a game of Texas Hold Em on a small travel size hand game. He came into the living room and asked me if I was ok. I told him that I must be having a really bad case of morning sickness and that I was going to lay on the couch for a bit and take a nap.

The next thing I remember I am waking up and my older sister is at my side. I was in a hospital. The bright lights, the drawn curtains and the cold, sterile area told me I was in an emergency room bed. I had a seizure, I had bounced so hard that I fell off the couch. My husband had yelled to me from the bedroom to ask if I was ok. When I hadn't responded, he came into the room and found me face down with my nose and mouth in the carpet. He rolled me over and my face was blue. I was unconscious. I guess I inhaled the air now that I was right face up. He called 911 and they stabilized me at the house and rushed me to the local hospital.

During this entire ordeal, I never saw a light, or never met up with Jesus and never felt I was at the Pearly Gates of Heaven. However, I do believe in God, Jesus is in my life, and I know that if my husband had not been home that day, I wouldn't be here telling my story. I would have suffocated to death, face down on my own living room floor. My son would have perished with me. My husband in all normal circumstances should not have been home that day. I do believe in God, I believe He has a plan for us, I believe there are many people out there who have a story to tell. Like so many people who have near death confrontations, it wasn't my time to die. Do I believe in Heaven? Yes, I do. Do you?

Knocking on Heaven's Door

I could write all I want about what I think heaven is in my mind, but here is a recommended book about a young boy, named Colton, who nearly died in the hospital and his revelation as to what he saw in heaven. Colton Burpo was only four years old and he told his parents about people he saw in heaven, including Jesus, the boy's great grandfather, and a sister, that his mom had miscarried. According to his parents they had never told him about the miscarriage. This is great reading for all of us who believe, for those who want to believe, and for those who don't believe in heaven above.

I read the book and think it is worth reading. I enjoyed it from start to finish and it was an easy read. The parents learn about Colton's experience in bits and pieces and reflect how things in the Bible relate to what Colton has to say from his own personal experience with Jesus, angels and other happenings. I would recommend that you read it. I believed in heaven already, this book pointed out things that you can expect to see in heaven, and I'm looking forward to it.

Heaven is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back
A young boy emerges from life-saving surgery with remarkable stories of his visit to heaven. Heaven Is for Real is the true story of the four-year old son of a small town Nebraska pastor who during emergency surgery slips from consciousness and enters heaven. He survives and begins talking about being able to look down and see the doctor operating and his dad praying in the waiting room. The family didn't know what to believe but soon the evidence was clear. Colton said he met his miscarried sister, whom no one had told him about, and his great grandfather who died 30 years before Colton was born, then shared impossible-to-know details about each. He describes the horse that only Jesus could ride, about how "reaaally big" God and his chair are, and how the Holy Spirit "shoots down power" from heaven to help us. Told by the father, but often in Colton's own words, the disarmingly simple message is heaven is a real place, Jesus really loves children, and be ready, there is a coming last battle.
