Do You Know a Place Called “Blessing”?

Paul David Silway is the Founder & Senior Pastor of Jesus Is Lord Ministries based in Maharashtra, India.

When man sinned, he had to be removed from the place of blessing (Garden of Eden). Look at the garden type of paradise—it was a good land, a place of blessing. Satan could not curse the blessed ones of God. He could not curse the earth. God had ordained a place of blessing for man. There was only one place of curse, evil, suffering, and death, which was the place Satan chose when he left the place of blessing.

Satan and his demons started to live in the place of condemnation, curse, and no blessing—a barren land. When man chose to disobey God, he had to leave the place of blessing. Now, he has to work with the sweat of his brow. That was not God’s choice for man, but he himself chose that place of no blessing, a place where there is resistance, a place of thorns and thistles.

Until today, man is suffering because of that one bad choice. Some may say we did not sin in the Garden of Eden then how are we accountable for that sin? Holy Spirit wants us to understand that even if some of us could have been there, we would have done the same thing; in fact, even before Adam’s time of disobedience.

Good News for You!

God has ordained a place/name to bless you. Yes, there is a place. God has ordained a place of blessing that is still available for sinners, still available for sick people, still available for cursed people, and still open for demon oppressed people.

There is a name under heaven where a sinner can take refuge, a sick can take refuge. This place of refuge is JESUS. (Acts 4:12)

From the day man sinned and left the place of blessing and entered the place of darkness, a place of curse, God had ordained a place of blessing before the foundation of the world.

He was chosen before the foundation of the world but was revealed at the end of the times for you. (1 Peter 1:20)

Satan never knew that God in His foreknowledge had chosen a name i.e. Jesus to be our Savior, the One who would pay the wages of our sins.

Whoever knows this name is blessed. If you know who Jesus is, you are a blessing too.

In Matthew 16: 13-20, when Jesus asked His disciples who do people say that He was, they said that some say He was a prophet, good man, and teacher. Then He asked them, “But you, who do you say that I am?” And Simon Peter answered and said, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:15, 16)

V17: Jesus said, “Oh you are blessed.” He did not say “blessed” for other people there, but to Peter who knew that Jesus was the Christ/Messiah and the good land/ place of blessing.

It is very important that you know who Jesus Christ is. He is God’s place of refuge, a place of blessing, a place of deliverance, a place called heaven, a place of salvation, and the way to heaven. In verse 18-19, Jesus said, “This is the rock, I will build My church.” This church is the Kingdom of Heaven.

Jesus is God’s prepared place of refuge from the judgment of sin because He became sin for us. He is the prepared place of blessing because He became a curse for us. He is the prepared place of heaven because He is the One who delivers us from the place of darkness to the place of light.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ. (Ephesians 1:3)

Sin Brought us Curse, but Christ Brought us Blessings

Jesus’ birth, death, crucifixion, and ascension are all important events every man must know about to walk in the blessings of God. If you don’t believe in these events, there is no way the Father can extend His blessings to you. Blessings begin when you know the word of God.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. (Hosea 4:6)

It’s not the lack of money, intelligence or married life, but lack of knowledge of the Word that is making people to suffer. You may be lacking in many areas of your life; however, every lack can be fulfilled by the knowledge of the Word. Faith comes by the knowledge of the Word. And it’s impossible to please God without faith.

Galatians 3:14 reveals that blessings come through Jesus Christ. Sin brought curse on mankind. It’s not gracious living anymore; it’s a struggle for everyone today—for the rich and poor, literate and illiterate. But the good news is that Christ redeemed us from the curse! All you’ve got to do is believe in Him and accept the blessings of God through grace.

How do You Enter this Place of Blessing?

Salvation is received because it is our Heavenly Father's gift of grace. It cannot be achieved. Salvation is not a matter of man doing something for God, but of what God has done for man. God in His unconditional love sent His only begotten Son into the world to SAVE SINNERS.

The prodigal son left his father's place of blessing and landed in a place of no blessing. He saw all around him and there was no blessing at all. There was a place of blessing waiting for him with the waiting father. He didn’t had enough money to buy his father’s favor of his blessing. He was a beggar and had nothing to give his father.

He came with nothing to give his father but had a repentant heart, and his father ran and embraced him and brought him to the place of blessing, where he never needed to eat pig food nor have any lack.

This is the place—a place where hurting ends and love begins:

  • Where sin ends and righteousness begins
  • Where curse ends and blessing begins
  • Where rejection ends and acceptance begins
  • Where hell ends and heaven begins
  • Where lack ends and abundance begins
  • Where death ends and life begins
  • Where sorrow ends and joy begins
  • Where darkness ends and light begins

A place where Satan is silenced forever. A place of favor. A place where its inhabitants shall not say, “I am sick.” This is Jesus, the Zion (Hebrew OT) or Sion (Greek NT) of heaven (Isaiah 33:20, 24). A place of celebration (as for the prodigal son). A place where Satan cannot touch you (1 John 5:18).

Eternal life is a gift to be received, not a reward to be achieved.

— Paul Silway

You are a Symbol of God’s Blessing

In Genesis 39:3-4, Joseph went to his master Potiphar’s house as a slave, but he was promoted because the master saw that the Lord was with Joseph and he prospered in all that he did (God blessed the work of his hands). He was in a place called blessing. The name of Jesus is a blessing.

In Jacob’s story, his uncle Laban acknowledged and said (in Genesis 30:27), “I have learned by experience that the Lord hath blessed me for thy sake.” Laban noticed that the reason his business had been blessed was because of Jacob.

Can the same be said of you? Of course! This is the life God called you into—not only to be blessed but also to be a blessing. You’re the symbol of God’s blessings!

Do You Know Where is this “Place” on Earth?

This is the Church, the Body of Christ and the Kingdom of Heaven, a place of refuge. Many do not know or do not want to live in this place. Sometimes, they come to church with a reluctant heart and mind. If they only knew this place was a place of blessing, they would come with their entire family. But sadly, many don’t.

Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house/rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. (Psalm 84:10)

The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. (Proverbs 18:10)

It makes me wonder just how we are blessed through this refuge place called "Blessing". Thanks for the post, pastor.

I am greatly blessed by this sermon. It shows how important it is to be in the Church and in Christ. Sin is the life-taker, but Christ is the life-giver. Thank God for preparing for us the eternal sacrifice i.e. the Lamb of God who brought us redemption from curse.
