Does The Bible Teach Rapture?

Updated on December 7, 2011

Is The Rapture A False Doctrine?

1 Thessalonians 4:15-17

15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Rapture isn't in the Bible, "Rapture" is from the Latin word raptus, meaning "caught up" from the action word rapere, which means" to transport from one place to another". Greek original is harpazo, which means a violent Snatching Away.

What does Daniel 12:1,2 teach?

1 Thessalonians 4:16 what does this teach?

But the gathering of the elect ISRAELITES, including the dead Old Testament saints, are the elect the ISRAELITES?

I'm going to edit this and work on it more..I did several studies on the book of Daniel and Revelation. I love to learn..I don't want to be lead wrong, so I will pray for each comment and ponder..I would love your insites on this also..

How do you feel about the Rapture?

Interesting hoowantstono. It does state that. Its good you know your verses. Many did at that time come resurrected from the graves. I look forward to being with Christ whichever means He allows me, whether to be taken up alive to be with Him or in my death. It is all the same thing. Death of my old sinful self, prepared to be with Him forever!

      Hi there

The Old Testament people are already in Eternal life, they were resurrected, and will come with Christ in the clouds.

      M't:27:51: And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

M't:27:52: And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

M't:27:53: And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

Paul was speaking in Thessalonians just quoting from scriptures and history of scritures about the coming of the Lord.

      Study well
