12 12 12

Doomsday 21 December 2012 was a bust but some still seek lucky numbers and master numbers so 121212 may not yet be on it's last legs..

Given that year 2012 has both a Leap Day and a Doomsday, I thought that there must be a way to put them together. It's too bad that the Leap Day is in February and the end of the world is in December or this task would be considerably easier.

Nevertheless, if you do some research on the notion of Doomsday it will not be long until you find a doomsday algorithm that is a method for figuring out Calendar dates no matter how far back into the past you want to go. Just the thing to tell you when Guy Fawkes day was 2000 years ago. Yes it's true that Guy Fawkes wasn't even born 2000 years ago but that's besides the point. The point is, I don't have to stretch very far to get a different kind of doomsday.

This second kind of doomsday gives a special significance to Leap Day. It turns out that since the Leap Day for the year 2012 was on a Wednesday that the day 12/12/12 is also on a Wednesday. In fact any even numbered month after February gets a Wednesday on it's corresponding day: 4/4, 6/6, 8/8, 10/10, 12/12.

So bending reality just a little further I constructed a Doomsday calendar called DoomCember. All the Wednesdays are doomsdays with a little "d". The End of the World which is on Friday 21 December 2012 is the big Doomsday which I decide to call "The End".

Happy DoomCember!
