Dream Interpretation - Here's one for you to try!

Updated on January 26, 2011

animals I was thinking about

The Dream

I was driving around this small country town in the hollow of some mountains

It must have been late spring or summer because it was very nice and warm

I stopped at a roadside farmer/rancher’s cart where he was selling animals

Small animals in a pen in the shade

All kinds of little animals, and some not so little any more, it was kind of like a

Petting zoo you could walk into and choose an animal for your farm.

Well, I didn’t have a farm

But in my dream, my husband and I owned a small cottage in the sun on the

Side of a mountain with some land and we had a sizable vegetable garden

And a barn

Having some animals would be nice, I thought

Something to care for, while I was writing and we were up there all alone

I picked up a small white rabbit, and walked around the pen

While the farmer and a lady discussed what she still needed for her farm.

While I was walking this animal in my hands changed from a rabbit to a hamster

And finally to a small pig and then jumped out of my arms and started running

Down the street

I followed him the best I could before he reached a busier street

It turns out he just really needed to relieve himself

So that gave me a chance to catch up with him, and scoop him up when he was done

That’s when I realized he was too heavy for me to carry and the pig probably shouldn’t be my first choice.

The farmer thanked me when I came back and I told him what me and my husband were looking for, although I admitted, my husband didn’t know yet I was out pet/animal shopping today

I just happened upon his stand.

The farmer laughed and said he thought the pig might be too much more that I wanted to handle and was holding a lamb in his arms.

He suggested the lamb and I thought how lovely it looked with its white fur and long legs too big for its body.

I would have to talk to my husband first, I wanted it to be a joint decision.

I think in order to interpret a dream you really need to understand a few things about the dreamer and their mindset at the time of the dream:

I do not live in a cottage in the mountains, but wish I did live in this exact place and I am not married. In the dream, my husband was referred to and very much in my heart and mind, but when I thought of him I didn’t see his face in my head.

I am not religious and do not follow any christian church although I am aware that these symbols have for some a religious meaning – for me they do not. To me flowers, animals, insects, and birds, etc always represent magic properties or things I am trying to bring into my life.I am a believer in the earth and the moon and that we all live in harmony with their cycles, I honor that and the Old Ways.

I have not analyzed this dream, I thought I’d let you all have a crack at it first, if you like. :)

Blessed Be!

Hi Fluffy, I only had a moment to glance at some of the writings on your page and am looking forward to being able to go back. I did notice you also write about dreams and I agree that we will learn more about all the dimensions of this world through studying them. Thanks for the votes and I'll be visiting you soon! :)

So glad you shared here with us, your dream is a very good one. I have so very many dreams, that I felt more healthy to share them here. It has been too, keeping things all bottled up inside really is terrible. The more we do share all of these, I believe we will learn so much more from them all. More than we already do know even. Voted you up here, useful and very informative too.

Wow, yeah, that's a great idea...the fairy fest isn't actually until the end of april so I'm just catching the vibe - but if Docmo will ride me on the back of his bike you can all follow along in the Bus!!! hehehehe WOW! I feel myself breaking out of my little shell...

Hi Erin, how's it going? I read Martie's intrepretation and CMcastro's. They kind of say the same things. They both seem very good at it.

I thought I'd drop you a line about Docmo who wants to come along the next trip! He just wrote me he has a black Kawasaki bike with Chinese calligraphy and he wants to give us a ride. I don't know if you can fit that into your story, but thought if you could it would be fun! Best of luck

Wow, Martie, you had some new observations in there that I really liked. I don't think the pig was the house in this case or scenario but actually did represent a person. And that it was the disguise that you talked about. I did have to give it back, more than I could take on. After all of the other interpretations and yours, I am wondering if the faceless husband is someone in my future (I wish) or my higher self. The farmer could either be the guardian spirit or the bank, kind of felt too kind and really was looking out for my best interest - so I don't think its the bank LOL. Thanks so much for the interpretation! All this input really makes me want to put all of my lucid dreams on here for you all to decipher! That was the last one, but the next one, if its not too weird, will go one here too! Love and Peace.

Erin – Let me give this a try – although not in depth, just merely my first impressions. I did not read the other comments, for they might confuse me.

The background – country, mountains, farm, is either how you see your life as it is – the freedom, the open spaces, etc., or it is how you want your life to be. The animals could be ‘responsibilities’ you had, or have or would like to have. The pig is truly a responsibility which is, or could become in the near feature, a burden. So if it is not already in your life, be careful what you take on in the near future – it may look like a cute rabbit, but is in fact a pig. The husband... he could be you yourself, your brain and your common sense, while you are in your dream your heart and emotions. If this is the case, it means you are an independent woman who doesn’t really need a husband – you feel you are complete. Or the husband could be your ‘ideal husband’ in your mind.

I think what is important in the dream is the pig. Either you already have one in your life, and it is not necessarily a person - it could be a project, or even a job - but indeed something you have to take care of - if you are not careful, you are soon going to get yourself this kind of burden. What bothers me is the fact that it seems to be a rabbit, so you are underestimating the pig – you think it is cute – and then, it changes from bad to worse in your arms, giving you all your days, and when you give him back he is all of a sudden a harmless little lamb. Did you perhaps have, or currently have, a person or project in your life like this. If not, it could have been in your past or perhaps on your horizon.

This is my interpretation. And now I am curious to read the other comments. Take care!

Now that I’ve read the comments, it seems to me the pig is your house and the farmer is your bank. So your dream was merely one of the many ways your brain digest your current situation. Nothing to worry about. The farmer took the pig back – and did not force you to keep it. Your worries will soon be over. :))))

Hi Ruby, sorry for the delay, my street lost power in the last snowstorm - so my house was without heat and water or electric....I had to get out of dodge. Just returned! I think you are exactly on the mark with my life! If my dream reflected all that than it was just an essay in symbols of where I am - oh how good of a guess!

      Love and Peace!

Hello Erin, I see your dream as a desire for peace and harmony in your life. The little cottage in a remote area means you want privacy, away from prying eye's. The animals are your need to have someone/ something to care for. The husband with a hidden face represents a desire for a relationship, but you are unwilling to go there at this time. I'm no expert, just guessing.

      Love and Peace

Shygirl2, nice to see you back and thanks so much for commenting. I too agree that it was about my heart's desires, I had that feeling when I woke up. I just felt like I had to write it down immediately and that all of the symbols had meaning. I knew I had to figure out what it meant to me - so I turned to my hub friends since I know I'm going through a bunch of self diagnostics right now. I figure that the more feedback I can get that isn't jaded by my own opinions of myself the better. It was a very positive dream, I knew others could see it all better than I could.

Love and Peace to you all!

Christina, you do have quite a knack for figuring out dreams! I agree with most of what you said, I'm still trying to process a lot of it. I never saw mountains as a burden but as a dream or a place I wanted to be, a goal. But I did explain about my house above to b. Malin. so that could be right. I also thought that the farmer could have represented a guardian angel/spirit. You have wonderful insights to the animals, I think you are spot on with them. I think I decided to talk to my husband about the lamb before the dream was over. In my dream I knew that the husband was a real physical man, I saw him in my mind, I just could not see his face but I could feel his aura and when I thought of him, I knew how it felt to be in his arms (I know that sounds weird, but thats how I remember him) (what can I say, I'm a lucid dreamer) Wonderful interpretation, thanks so much.. I've got so much to think about.

      b. Malin, wow, it is my dream and I do own a house in colorado that I'm in the process of giving back to the bank because I can no longer manage all that goes with it. That has been weighing heavily on me. I've had experiences with internet dating as it is my generation that seemed to be right in there when it started - I haven't had much luck with it. I tend to be a homebody so it seemed perfect for me at first, I don't like to go to bars and nightclubs - but I don't really like going out much at all! He'd pretty much have to live in my neighborhood or down the street and we'd have to meet by accident at the grocery store! Thanks so much for your interpretation - you were right on!

I'm not one who can figure out dreams, as I rarely know what my own are trying to tell me, but I like the interpretation CMCastro gave you. It makes sense. It does seem like your dream is trying to tell you your hearts desires, and what your mind invisions for you. : ) Great dream and hub! Thanks for sharing it!!

Hi Erin, I have a knack for figuring out dreams. Driving in a car represents your motivation in life. (Drving-moving forward, Car- your life). The farm in the hollow or base of the mountain- a peaceful place you desire to be below or beyond the mountain- mountain can represent a burden. The farmer is a nurturing caregiver-someone who looks after the delicate animals- could represent your angel that guides you. The Rabbit is a reproductive animal who represents happiness, but then it changed into a hamster which could represent a little problem you've been nurturing (hamster is a domesticated rodent). The pig represents an impossible goal that you find getting away from you that has to eliminate- meaning its(the impossible dream) problem will take care of itself. The fact that the pig was "too heavy for you" means that you are feeling that (the impossible dream) is too much for you to care for. But then the lamb represents an alternative for Peace and Calm Gentleness which the Lamb has been known to represent Jesus Christ. And Lastly the husband is a representation of Your Higher Spiritual Self ( as it says, and the two will become one) Because it is a husband only your subconscious knows it is The Spiritual Being within You and You state in the dream you have to make a joint decision to decide on taking the Lamb. Well the joint decision has to be made with you and your higher self which will be assisted to what the "farmer" your spiritual guidance can offer you.

There you have it, my own interpretation that was granted to me because I enjoy helping others interpret their dreams. Feel free to contact me and tell me what you think. Christina

It's an interesting dream Erin, and it could be you someday...with a husband, and a farm, and small animals...Maybe you need to make this dream come true. He's out there, you just need to find one another...Have you tried an"Internet Dating Services"? I do know a lot of friends and family members whom have met that "someone" that way. You are still a beautiful young woman with a lot of love to give, to the right situation. LOL.
