Dreams: Visions In Your Head
Dreams have intrigued us since the dawn of time, but intrigue does not equal understanding. Most times intrigue has turned into superstition and spiritual hocus pocus due to lack of understanding and the minds habit of trying to fill in the blanks. When we don't understand something we tend to use our imaginations to fill in the blanks which is quite dangerous, because in the area of the unknown the imagination tends to blow things way out of proportion and context.
If we are to understand and interpret dreams we need to apply a basic principal: Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened to you. Never ever assume you know the meaning or interpretation of a dream without first doing some research on the subject. Now I am not talking about just your everyday observation and remembering of your dreams, I am talking about breaking down the elements of the dream to be able to ascertain a message, leading, warning or life lesson that can be applied.
Origin Of Dreams
Dreams can find their origins from 3 sources. The first source as most people will now is self or a persons subconscious. Because I am a Christian my view points are idealy Christian, so therefore the second source is the enemy of our souls, the devil. The third and final source is the creator of all life, the Alpha and the Omega, God. When the source of our dreams are our subconscience, they tend to be a jumble of images and sounds with no definate direction or subject matter. The dreams from the subconscious are usually unintelligible and no meaning or interpretation can be gained from them. These dreams tend to be a way that our subconscious mind unloads heaps of stuff that we have experienced over days sometimes even weeks.
How do you dream?

Nightmare or Demonic Attack
The subject of nightmares is so vast and varied with many highly educated people writing volumes upon volumes of books on the matter. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on your personal preference, I am not one of those educated people, but like all people who have ever dreamed, I am experienced in the matter. I have done some extensive research into dreams and nightmares and what I am about to share with you will hopefully help you in dealing with nightmares and interpreting dreams.
Identify the Source
According to studies babies only have two fears after birth: the fear of falling and the fear of loud noises. As we go through life we learn fear from the people around us and from our nightmares. It is not natural for the human being to have fear, it has to be learned. Take a baby that knows how to crawl and put him/her on the roof of a house. What are they going to do? They will goo-gaa, giggle and crawl right off the side of the rood! Give a baby a cobra and they will play with it just like a stuffed toy. No fear!
The author of all fear and phobias is the devil. I am not talking about having a healthy respect for things that can harm, I am refering to a debilitating fear that prevents us from reaching and enjoying the fullness of life.
In John 10:10 Jesus says: "The thief (the devil) does not come except to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come that they (those who put faith in Him) many have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." It's because of this promise that the devil tries to sabotage our dreams. We might be having an enjoyable dream when all of a sudden the dream takes a turn for the worse and turns into a nightmare. Why? There is a very, very fine line between dreaming and the spirit world. Some people have given reports of dreaming and then having an out of body experience the next moment. What happened? Oh man, I didn't think I would be getting so deep into this, but I am writing by revelation at the moment. All people are created in the image of God, not apes! God is a tri-une being and we are tri-une beings. You are a spirit, you have a soul and you live in a body. Your soul is the seat of our mind, will and emotions. Your spirit is your heart of your life force. It is your essence, it is what makes you you. You as spirit can connect to the spirit world. Your soul is the go-between the spirit world and the natural world. Your body is the vessel used to experience and affect the natural world.
"But I don't experience the spirit world so how do I know it exists?", I hear you ask. I asked the same type of questions. Well you are either an unregenerated spirit, someone who is not a born again believer in Jesus Christ or a believer who has not yet received revelation concerning the matter. That can all change by the time you are finished reading this hubpage. When God said to Adam and Eve that they would die the day the moment they ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, He was talking about them dieing to the spirit world. Therefore we are born separated from the spirit , unable to consciously experience and affect the world of the spirit. We are still spirit beings but just disconnected from the spirit world. Jesus Christ came, He died so that we can once again be connected to the Spirit of Life. The yearning people experience in their hearts is the spirits yearning to be connected to the Spirit of Life.
But people have learnt to communicate with the spirit world even though they are not re-connected through faith in Jesus Christ. These people communicate with the spirit world by accessing their spirit through the subconscious. They do this through meditation, drug use, transcendentalism. spirit mediums, witchcraft and many more. Notice that I use the word "communicate" because they are not re-connecting. And this kind of communication is very dangerous. There are things in the spirit world that are looking for any opportunity to come steal, kill and destroy in humanity. By attempting to communicate with the spirit world you are opening a doorway to allow nasties in. The only way into the spirit world is through Jesus Christ. He says He is the doorway.
Our dreams and nightmares are one of the places that we are closest to the spirit world. The other times are close enough to experience the spirit world is in prayer, during praise and worship or having a vision. Our spirits are always reaching out to be re-connected and in our vunerable state while dreaming, the nasties (demons) will sometimes infiltrate them and sow seeds of fear into our subconscious. These fears are then manifest into our everyday lives and we aren't even aware of it.
The main purpose of a nightmare is to sow fear or strengthen insecurities and ultimately paralize us so that we don't live a full and abundant life. What many people don't realise is that all of the spirit world can see you as spirit. And in the spirit we are way more impressive to look at than merely looking at these weak and inferior bodies. Your spirit reflects all your abilities, talents, strengths, gifts, powers, potential and purpose. And that is what the devil is so afraid of and why he is trying so hard to put fear in you because he knows the more fear you have the harder it will be for you to trust. Most of all he wants to keep you away from God and Jesus Christ because if you re-connect, he is screwed! All of your spirit will be infused with the Power of Almighty God and you will be able to deal some serious hurt on the devil, whose only purpose is to steal, kill and destroy you. Not being connected to God is like building a mansion with all of life's comforts, in the middle of the desert with no power or water. Being connected to God is having the same mansion moved and built on top of the hoover dam wall! What will eventually happen is that mansion will become a city! Being connected is like upgrading from a 9mm pistol to a hauser tank . . . . unstoppable!
Dreams and Visions
Dreaming or Walking In The Spirit
When you are re-connected with God you can take control while having a nightmare and turn the table on the devil and his demons. While growing up the devil and his demons stepped into many of my dreams to terrorize me. I too woke up in a cold sweat and when I wanted to get up to switch on the light I found myself pinned to my bed as if a 1000 pound weight was on my chest. And I was powerless to do anything about it. Then I got re-connected and now it was my turn to do some damage!
I remember having a dream and in the dream my friend and I were walking through a field just chatting. As we walked I felt a scratching between my shoulder blades just below my neck. So when I reached over to scratch it, something grabbed hold of my hand. More accurately, I had a hold of something. When I brought my hand forward, I was holding a very peculiar looking demon. It was all head with no body, very long arms and legs sticking out of the bottom of it. It was also furry and had a big mouth filled with sharp, triangular teeth. I was grasping it by its mouth, just like you would hold a fish, with its arms and legs grasped in its mouth. Now, you can imagine the sight! Arms stretched full length gripping a furry, toothy demon with its own arms and legs pinned in its mouth by my grasp. Just at that moment, I woke up lying on my stomach in bed with my arm stretched behind my neck, struggling. When I brought my hand forward, I was clenching my fist! I believe I was delivered from demonic oppression through that dream. I have also had demons try and suffocate me with my own duvet, but instead of freeze in fear, my spirit rose up in me, woke me up and I turned the blankets over onto the demon! It struggled for a few seconds trapped under my duvet and then slowly shrank and disappeared. I no longer fear demons while sleeping or awake because greater is He that is in me than he who is in the world!
I have stepped into the spirit and had meetings with Jesus Christ while dreaming. These dreams were not authored by me but rather God reaching out to a yearning spirit. These "dreams" are some of the most precious to me.
Interpretation of dreams cannot come from a book. Books are good for suggestions but the interpretation has to come from the source of the dream, the Holy Spirit. When God speaks to us through dreams, the interpretation comes locked up in the dream. The elements of the dream: objects, color, compass directions, shades, gender, age, numbers, the time at which the dream was had and the emotions experienced in the dream all have to be considered for the interpretation. The interpretation will not always be immediately forthcoming, but it will come in due season. If someone gives you an interpretation to a dream and that interpretation does not confirm what is in your heart, then it must be put aside. Like I said before, with the dream comes the interpretation, but it just might not be able to be unlocked at the moment.
For example: I had a dream about 11 years ago and I only got the interpretation for the dream about a week ago. I didn't have to spend hours in prayer or seek out a prophet to interpret the dream for me. All I had to do was put my faith in the Holy Spirit to show me all things in due season. Don't get me wrong, God has used other people to bring an interpretation to me but the interpretation had to be a confirmation of what was already in my heart.
If our faith is first and foremost in God and the leading of the Holy Spirit, then we will never be lead astray by a wayward interpretation.
I pray that God will fill your dreams with His Power and His Glory! Sweet Dreams!
