ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM - WHAT IS WRONG WITH BILL HYBELS AND WILLOW CREEK CHURCH?

Updated on September 2, 2014

The stated mission of Willow Creek Community Church (WCCC) in South Barrington Chicago is: “to turn irreligious people into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ." Willow Creek Church is a mega-church seating 7,095 people inside the main auditorium building. They claim that more than 20,000 people worship at one of their six regional campuses each weekend. The Willow Creek Association (WCA) claims to be an international, evangelical Christian association of more than 9,000 member churches from 90 denominations and 45 countries.

Bill Hybels founded the church on the marketing ideas of Peter Drucker who successfully applied them to business management before directing his attention towards the mega-church. Rick Warren, Bill Hybels and Bob Buford were all mentored by Peter Drucker and all three of them seem to have been almost mesmerized by him. Drucker plainly denied being a “born again” Christian and was heavily influenced by the mysticism of Kierkegaard (http://apprising.org).

The desire of Willow Creek is to attract “customers” to the church with the market-driven seeker -sensitive model, and numerically this has been extremely successful. After surveying the community, Hybels designed his Sunday morning services to meet the “felt needs” of non-believers with programmes and entertainment, his focus being on “personal fulfillment”. There are problems biblically with this method because the perceived needs of people are often not what God defines as their real need i.e. salvation. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55/9) The seeker-sensitive method avoids offending people with the core message of the gospel - the seriousness of sin, repentance and eternal punishment. Instead it is based upon self-esteem rather than self-denial and personal fulfillment rather than on repentance of sins, in other words it is all about the individual rather than Jesus Christ. The seeker sensitive approach is a method that promotes men-pleasing as against God-pleasing. (1 Thessalonians 2/4) The danger is that this method produces false converts because attendees of seeker-sensitive churches have never repented of their sins and believed the gospel message in its entirety (Colossians 1/25).

Though there is the possibility of unbelievers coming into the Christian assembly (1 Corinthians 14/23), “meeting together” is primarily about the uniting together of believers: When you [believers] come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up. (1 Corinthians 14/26) Willow Creek has reversed the biblical command to be separate by bringing unbelievers into the Christian assembly en masse. This is the diametric opposite of God’s will. Lack of in depth teaching and mutual edification is the result which is deadly in the present spiritual climate. The spiritual growth of any true believers is stunted at best, and at worst they are vulnerable to dangerous false teaching which endangers their salvation. Jesus Christ repeated twice to Peter: “Feed my sheep” (John 21/16-17). So I exhort the elders among you……..to shepherd {guard, guide, tend, care for} the flock of God that is among you (1 Peter 5/2). The clear biblical directive to pastors is to prioritise the sheep, Jesus Christ being the supreme example who laid down his very life for the sheep (1 John 3/16). It is the responsibility of the church to evangelise giving the full gospel message, whether popular or not, and to leave the consequences to God. Many people were added to the Lord soon after the judgement of God fell upon Ananias and Sapphira – not very seeker-sensitive! ….. more than ever believers were added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women. (Acts 5/1-14) And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved. (Acts 2/47) The numbers are clearly God’s concern, not ours.

WILLOW CREEK STATEMENT OF FAITH

The church bases its belief on the Bible, asserting it to be inspired by God,

· There is one God, eternally existing in three persons— Father, Son, and Holy Spirit— each possessing all the attributes of Deity.inerrant, infallible, and the final authority on matters which it covers.

· Humans were created by God to have fellowship with Him, but due to their rejection of God, they need His saving grace, which must be received by repentance and faith, in order to end the separation from Him.

· Jesus Christ lived a sinless life on earth and then voluntarily paid for the sin of humans with His death on the cross. This payment offers salvation for those who believe in Jesus. He rose from the dead and is the mediator between us and God. Christ will return to the earth to consummate history.

· The Holy Spirit draws sinners to Christ and equips believers for personal growth and service to the church.

· The church's role is to glorify God and serve those in need.

· At the end, everyone will experience bodily resurrection and the judgment. Those forgiven through Christ will enjoy eternal fellowship with God.

(willowcreek.org)

The WCCC Statement of Faith has the appearance of orthodoxy, but it is deceptive because it leaves vital things unsaid and falls short of the full gospel. It says nothing about the sinfulness and guilt of all human beings and God’s wrath and righteous condemnation. The work of the Holy Spirit is to convict of sin enabling people to repent and have faith in Jesus Christ as their only means of justification. Redemption from the guilt, penalty and power of sin is only through the sacrificial death, as our representative and substitute, of Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God. “Irreligious people” is a vague term which does not mark out Christianity as being unique from other religions. Psalm 119 160 speaks about the entirety i.e. the whole of God’s word being synonymous with truth: The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever.

Concerning homosexuality, Bill Hybels says that his church is open to all people – “marriage is only for a man and a woman and all non-married people should remain celibate.” This is correct as far as it goes, but Bill Hybels fails to warn that homosexuality and fornication are sins before the Lord. His ‘soft’ approach is concerning because he only gives half the gospel; he fails to warn about the consequences of a sinful lifestyle. The “seeker friendly” method of Bill Hybels could be interpreted as very gracious and loving, but sadly there is much more to it.

The WCA describes itself as “a not for-profit organisation” - in other words it is an IRS registered 501(c)3 organisation. This means that it is subject to the state with no First or Fifth Amendment rights. 501(c)3 churches are in partnership with the federal government and as such they are bound to United Nations Treaties, guidelines, and directives. A church with the 501(c)3 status cannot preach politically incorrect sermons or expose false teachings; it cannot criticise the Pope or the Vatican, the United Nations, the New World Order, the Masonic Lodge, secret societies like The Order of Skull & Bones. 501(c)3 churches cannot: Appeal to peoples’ emotions by employing an evangelization method (such as “fire and brimstone” preaching) not considered a “reasoned approach” by the IRS. (Richard Allen Landes, Millennialism and Millennial Movements,511).

For a 501c3 church to openly speak out, or organize in opposition to, anything that the government declares ‘legal,’ even if it is immoral (e.g. abortion, homosexuality, same sex marriages, etc.), that church will jeopardize its tax exempt status. The 501c3 has had a ‘chilling effect’ upon the free speech rights of the church. LBJ was a shrewd and cunning politician who seemed to well-appreciate how easily many of the clergy would sell out.” (Peter Kershaw, In Caesar’s Grip) http://goodnewsaboutgod.com/studies/spiritual/the_organized_church/501c3.htm)

The problem is that if Christian people do not warn about sin, repentance and eternal punishment, then who will? The Corinthian church experienced godly grief after they received Paul’s painful letter - it is precisely the conviction of sin and godly grief that leads to repentance (2 Corinthians 7/10). John the Baptist called for repentance and warned about the future judgement for sinners (Matthew 3/2,7). Jesus Christ’s message to his followers was to deny themselves, to hate the world and to die for His sake if necessary (Luke 9/23-24; Matthew 10/37-39). Jesus Christ warned about hell more than he did about heaven: whoever does not believe is condemned already (John 3/18; the fiery furnace where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 13:42,50); where their worm never dies (Mark 9/48). The apostle Paul agrees (2 Thessalonians 1/7-10; Ephesians 2/1-2; 2 Timothy 2/26; Romans 6/6-17). None of this is “seeker-friendly”.

They have healed the wound of my people lightly, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace. (Jeremiah 6/14)

Hybels teaching is innocuous, but Jesus Christ offended many people (Matthew 15/12; 13/57 etc). Christ is described as: “A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense." (Romans 9/33; 1 Peter 2/8; Isaiah 8/14) I don’t see anyone in the world getting offended with Bill Hybels. Woe to you, when all people speak well of you, for so their fathers did to the false prophets.(Luke 6/26)

There is an obligation for the followers of Christ to warn about sin and everlasting punishment, and there are consequences for those who fail to give this message:

And at the end of seven days, the word of the LORD came to me: “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me. If I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, in order to save his life, that wicked person shall die for his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. But if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, or from his wicked way, he shall die for his iniquity, but you will have delivered your soul. Again, if a righteous person turns from his righteousness and commits injustice, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die. Because you have not warned him, he shall die for his sin, and his righteous deeds that he has done shall not be remembered, but his blood I will require at your hand. But if you warn the righteous person not to sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live, because he took warning, and you will have delivered your soul.” (Ezekiel 3/16-21)

In a recent sermon, Bill Hybels said: “Everyone will come face to face with God just after they die.” This is not correct. Immediately after death the souls of those who die in a state of mortal sin descend into hell (Luke 16/19-31). Unbelievers will not face God until the Great White Throne Judgement. (Revelation 20/11-12) Hybels defines sin as “rejection of God” which is correct as far as it goes. He also describes sin as “a flawed strategy to gain fulfillment.” Sin is transgression, to miss the mark, lawlessness, rebellion, unrighteousness, iniquity etc. with eternal separation and punishment being the result, but Hybels does not make this clear, rather he makes vague statements about the “afterlife” without defining what this “afterlife” is. He says that “We will have to explain ourselves before the Lord.” “Believers will be with him forever…..everyone will be resurrected.” Once again there are no specifics about sin and eternal punishment. (http://media.willowcreek.org)

“And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” (Matthew 25/46)

In 1996, an internal survey of Willow Creek members revealed that 25% of singles, 38% of single parents, and 41% of divorced individuals admitted having illicit sexual relations in the previous six months:

"Hybels did not call the congregation to repent for their rebellion against a holy God. Instead he emphasized God's compassionate love: 'We are a love-starved people, with broken hearts that need the kind of repair that only he can give long-term..." (Prichard, Willow Creek Seeker Services, Baker, 1996)

YOU WILL RECOGNISE THEM BY THEIR FRUITS - MATTHEW 7/20

Having identified Hybels unbiblical marketing methods and his reluctance to preach the whole counsel of God, it is also necessary to examine his life in order to make a correct assessment about this ministry. The Apostle Paul not only referred to his teaching, but also his “way of life” which he held up as proof about his faithfulness to God (Timothy 3/10; 1 Corinthians 4/17).

· Bill Hybels (along with many others including Rick Warren) signed the Yale Centre for Faith & Culture document: ‘Love God and Neighbor Together’. This document was a response to an open letter from Muslim scholars, clerics and intellectuals from around the world: ‘A Common Word Between Us and You’ which sought to identify common ground between Christianity and Islam. This response promoted interfaith dialogue and identified “common love for God and one another.” (www.yale.edu/faith/acw/acw.htm) In other words, both Christians and Muslims worship the same God - but how can this be so when the Koran says several times that God has no son? (Sura 25:2-3; 19:88-92; 8:4-5 etc.) This is clearly not the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

· On the 2nd of October 2001, Hybels invited local Muslim Imam, Fred Hammouda to give a joint presentation to the Willow Creek "audience". Hybels and Hammouda discussed strong ties between Christianity and Islam.

· Bill Hybels endorsed the document: ‘That They May Have Life: Evangelicals and Catholics Together Statement’. (www.firstthings.com/article/2008/11/that-they-may-have-life-30) To be united with Jesus Christ and subsequently each other is only possible on the basis of truth; it can never be through paganised Christianity. The Roman Catholic heretical position is based on the mass, the papacy, Mary, purgatory, the priesthood, prayers to the dead and the sacraments, none of which are biblical. The Roman Catholic Church has been promoting the syncretism of all religions including shamans, witch doctors, snake worshipers etc. via The Spirit of Assisi (aka the spirit of antichrist) since 1986. This makes it untenable for any Bible believing Christian to unite with them. (www.youtube.com/watch?v=foi-c2ElW6o)

· In 1990, Hybels invited Roman Catholic Priest, Father Med Laz who he described as "a brother in Christ" from Holy Family Church to Willow Creek to explain what Protestants can learn from Roman Catholics. (www.willowcreek.com/ProdInfo.asp?invtid=PR00650)

· In 2000 Bill Hybels and Rick Warren attended the interfaith Millennium World Peace Summit of Religious and Spiritual Leaders – a United Nations group which was attended by 1000 religious leaders. The United Nations has a provable occult background. The publishing house for the United Nations is Lucis Trust (formerly The Lucifer Publishing Company) which was founded by theosophist Alice Bailey. The United Nations support many non-governmental organisations that promote New Age and Luciferian doctrine. Luciferian David Spangler, Director of Planetary Initiative, United Nations also attended the Millennium World Peace Summit. Spangler: "Christ is the same force as Lucifer... Lucifer prepares man for the experience of Christhood….., each of us is brought to that point which I term the Luciferic Initiation, the particular doorway through which the individual must pass if he is to come fully into the presence of his light and his wholeness. ….. each one of us gets to the point in our lives where we must receive a Luciferic initiation. (Reflections on the Christ p 45) (www.lorian.org/davidspage.html#gpm1_5). It is unthinkable that a professing Christian should be affiliated with the United Nations. .....what fellowship has light with darkness? What accord has Christ with Belial? ( 2 Corinthians 6/14-15)

· WCCC is in partnership with World Vision (a United Nation’s Non-governmental Organization, affiliated with the U.N. Department of Public Information – who have agreed to actively promote the U.N. agenda) to create Vision Chicago in an effort to link Willow Creek with urban ministries. World Vision also has an ecumenical interfaith agenda.

· Since 1996 the WCA have held global leadership summits which are annual training events for church, ministry and other leaders to sharpen their skills.Speakers are corporate and organizational megastars such as Tony Blair, George W Bush, Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Condoleezza Rice, TD Jakes, Rick Warren, Colin Powel, U2 singer Bono and Chuck Colson among many others. The problem is that many of these leaders do not have a biblical worldview. For instance, The Tony Blair Foundation is an interfaith charitable foundation. Its stated goal is to counter religious extremism” through its Faith and Globalisation Initiative in order to unify the world’s religions - in other words Blair is promoting the one world church aka The Whore of Babylon. Blair is pro-gay and pro-abortion as well as being a convert to Roman Catholicism which is a contradiction in itself. Bono: “God’s Spirit moves through us and the world at a pace that can never be constructed by any one religious paradigm. Be very wary of people who think theirs is the only way.” Condoleezza Rice supports abortion and civil unions for gay people whilst claiming to be ‘evangelical’. It has to be said that success in the world does not qualify a person to have any input whatsoever into the true church of Jesus Christ. Unless they are true believers, they have the spirit of the world and not the Holy Spirit - this automatically disqualifies them from teaching the church because they do not have understanding and wisdom from God. The world cannot receive the Spirit of Truth (John 14/17). Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. (1Corinthians 2/12) WCCC have opened its doors to the spirit of the world aka the spirit of antichrist – these speakers are actually God’s enemies because they are not reconciled to him through the death of his Son (Romans 5/10).

· Bill Hybels invited New York Times Journalist Nicholas Kristof to the stage of WCCC on the 22nd April 2012 as part of Celebration of Hope 2012. Kristof is atheist, anti-Israel, pro-gay and pro-abortion. Sheryl WuDunn, Kristof’s wife is listed on the faculty of Willow Creek's Global Leadership Summit. (http://media.willowcreek.org/weekend/celebration-of-hope-2012-2/#content)

· Bill Hybels associates with and approves of false teachers like TD Jakes, Robert Schuller, Rick Warren, Jim Wallis, Brian McLaren, Rob Bell, Peter Wagner etc. His praise for people like Billy Graham (who has denied the Lord) and Mother Teresa (who did not attempt to win anyone to Christianity) also leaves much cause for concern. (www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCgpUPHkgc8)

· "All pathways to heaven and God are not the same; that's the reality," David Staal, a spokesman for Willow Creek. (Chicago Daily Herald March 2001)

· WCCC uses the New Living Translation (NLT) of the Bible which is not a translation at all, but a poor paraphrase. According to Craig Blomberg of Denver Seminary, the NLT is suitable only for "kids or very poor adult readers….." (www.bible-researcher.com/nlt.html)

The back cover of the NLT has glowing recommendations by Bill Hybels, Billy Graham, Greg Laurie and Josh McDowell. The question has to be asked: Why would any pastor use and recommend a sub-standard paraphrase of the Bible?

· Lynne Hybels (wife of Bill Hybels) is a member of President Obama’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships (OFBNP). Other members include representatives from various faiths including Jewish, Evangelical, United Way Worldwide, Lutheran, Episcopal Church, Greek Orthodox, Buddhists, Mormons etc. In February 2009, Obama named Muslim Eboo Patel as a member of the OFBNP. Patel is the founder and executive director of Chicago-based Interfaith Youth Core, which says it promotes pluralism by teaming people of different faiths on service projects. (www.whitehouse.gov/administration/eop/ofbnp/about/council)

· Lynne Hybels is pro-Palestinian and calls Israel an “occupying power.” (www.christatthecheckpoint.com/index.php/blog/68-lynne-hybels-video-blog)

The above blatantly demonstrates that Hybels and Willow Creek are absolutely saturated in unbiblical methods, doctrine, belief and practice. If there are no alarm bells going off by now for the genuine Christian reader, then something is wrong.

Biblically, if he is a true Christian, Bill Hybels/Willow Creek should not associate (in the sense of fellowship) with anyone who does not abide in the teaching of Christ. Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting, for whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works. (2 John 1/9-11) Anyone who endorses this ministry is guilty by association because by doing so they are endangering the body of Christ by promoting a partial gospel which is actually a false gospel.

For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions….. (2 Timothy 4/3)

Because Bill Hybels preaches an incomplete false gospel and because he agrees with and promotes false beliefs such as Roman Catholicism and Islam, the Bible says he is “accursed”. (2 John 1/10-11; Galatians 1/6-9)) Hybels has denied the Lord by doing such things. The Bible tells believers to avoid people like him at all costs. Bill Hybels material is contaminated and everything about that ministry is under a curse – this is not my judgement, this is what the Bible says. Those who associate with false ministries take part in “wicked works” (2 John 10-11).

The final church in the Book of Revelation is Laodicea, meaning “people’s opinions” - a description which perfectly fits the situation in our time. Christians have casual discussions about their own viewpoint on certain biblical issues, or they debate whether the Bible is literal or symbolic as if they were discussing the weather. If we do have an opinion then it should stand the scrutiny of the Bible itself – this is not just any book. The Word of God is spirit and life (John 6/63); Jesus Christ is the Word (John 1/1); the Word of God is living (1 Peter 1/23). It is a very serious matter to preach an impure word or to distort the word of God (2 Corinthians 2/17; 4/2). Human opinions are irrelevant and lead to instability (James 1/8).

Thus says the LORD: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the LORD.” (Jeremiah 9/23)

I would go as far as to say that Willow Creek is an integral part of the strategy of Satan himself to delude “even the elect if that were possible” (Matthew 24/24) in order to further the ultimate arrival of the antichrist and the false prophet via the New World Order. It is absolutely vital that the church does not get sucked into the Ecumenical Movement in these times. The Ecumenical Movement is the Whore of Babylon, it is full of abominations and is en route to the Lake of Fire. True believers should shun the Ecumenical Movement like the plague that it is instead of entering into dialogue with it or trying out its so called “delicacies” which are really the trap of Satan.

      Hi Eliora,

This is a powerful hub filled with 'righteous' indignation being expressed for our Lord Jesus Christ.

I don't know much about Willow Creek because I do not live in USA BUT I know sufficient about the individuals involved and their involvement with UN, interfaith movements, twisting of our Lords words, etc etc etc to know that what you are exposing here, is creditable material and I say Glory to God that you are willing to speak out and BE a Watchman on the wall.

The faithful need to be warned because they are being led astray without knowing it, by the wolves, all well dressed up in their sheeps clothing, speaking out of both sides of their mouths.

I pray that whoever reads this hub will share it with others and hopefully, it will lead them to question not only this church, but all teachings given, by checking the word, by reading their Bibles and please, not the NIV or any of those New Translations. Go home and read the texts relating to the sermons you hear in your churches. Make sure of the context of the passages used. Don't take anything at face value. ESPECIALLY if you are in a church with a huge congregation. Love you sister as you work to bring into the light wicked things, for all of us. voted up and useful/interesting

Thank you very much --- I don't know how much longer it will be before this kind of thing is banned and called 'politically incorrect'. I am trying to get the truth out while there is the opportunity to do so. God bless you shofarcall.

You say and rightly so, "Bill Hybels founded the church . . ." Jesus said He would build HIS church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. I vote for Jesus. Thanks for exposing this.

I am pleased that there are people like you that have refused to succumb to the seductive influence of the world. What we are seeing today in the church is not new, but certainly there is a severe declension that is glaring and believers cannot have excuses. The demarcation between the world and the church which was blurred by Constatine has continued to haunt the church. Currently, prominient church leaders have brought

into the church their idiosyncratic interpretations of the scriptures

purely for their naked ambitions. The behaviour hacks back to the

Catholic church that had one rule for the laity and another for the

hierarchy. What is sad about it all is that there is sheep too willing to be led astray, although, there are unsuspecting majority who are shackled and kept captive by these leaders that have sold their hearts and soul to the prince of this world. However, there will be a day of reckoning for all of us.

May the Lord continue to grant you the grace, wisdom and spiritual judgment as you remain committed to this clarion call to Christian at this point in time when the pulpit has turned into a platform that promotes the feel good factor to the exclusion of the old rugged cross.

To be appointed a Watchman is a serious assignment. You are held responsible for not only what you say but also what you don't say. Courage and boldness are essential. I pray for greater boldness to speak as He commands me. It is a very lonely walk even amidst family and friends as they are first to judge and condemn. Pray for me as I pray for you as you stand firm and Bold in His Will and abundant Grace in Jesus the Amen...His In Service

Thank you for this enlightening article. I live in Chicago and attended Willow Creek in the late 90's early 2000s. At the time, I found that their weekend "Seeker Services" were not really for me as I wasn't learning anything new, more of a "feel good" experience. So I began attending their mid-week service where the full Gospel was proclaimed; some very good in-depth teaching by Associate Pastors (at that time) Lee Strobel and John Ortberg.

I quit going for a number of years after that (my personal mid-week schedule changed) and then began attending on weekends again whenever I felt the desire for corporate worship. I must say that, from my observation, I never heard any teaching that I found to be unscriptural during those visits. That said, there was one thing that really bothered me and that was the nonchalant attitude of those I usually found seated around me. Maybe it's just me, but I find it very disturbing when I see adults and children wearing ball caps and checking their phones during services. In fact, I found it so distracting that I've quit going there altogether. Reading your well-researched article has reaffirmed my decision to stay away from Willow Creek.

(I'm thinking that maybe The Lord used those "annoyances" to get me to "come out from among them" :)

      Thanks again.

Thanks for this article. Just curious...how many churches in America are "for profit"? in their tax-filing status? Are truly godly churches not 503(c)? Do churches have an option in how they file? This is interesting and something I'd never thought about before.

I had no idea Billy Graham had denied the Lord. That makes me very sad because my father came to Christ at a Billy Graham crusade.

Thank you Linda for your thoughts. Many churches in the US are "for profit" very few are not - I do not have the figures or the details on how they file but you could do a Google search on this. Billy Graham has been compromising Roman Catholicism with Christianity for many years, even during his crusades he sent new converts to RC churches. Many are not what they seem to be. The Bible repeatedly tells us to "be alert" with very good reason 1 Peter 5/8. God bless you.

Great article. You hit the nail right on the head. I loved how you organized your explanation and used soooo much scripture.

I admire your boldness in speaking the truth and exposing this false teacher. If more Christian's would read their Bible's and spend more time in God's Word they would not be deceived by false doctrine. I will pray that God would speak to the heart's of the WCCC Pastor's so they may see the error of their ways. God Bless You Eliora !

I sent this to GLS. NO RESPONSE, I was invited again this year by my church.. which prompted this post to this web site.

I would like to express my sincere disappointment, my shock, and anger about the repugnant display of racial rhetoric I was subjected to at the 2015 GLS. Did someone review the song and the author of “glory” or just because he is black and you want to “expand your demographics”. I am appalled at the fact Bill Hybels/ GLS would give a platform to Lonnie Lynn Jr., his platform of racial discord, and to sell his music. It is being used as a platform, of no responsibility, no accountability, and no fact. Fact, “hands up” did not happen, proven by witnesses. “Don’t shoot”, did not happen. Then “common” wants to use the rest of that song he sings, to promote an idealistic discord (no man no gun). Law Enforcement is being attacked for defending themselves. Citizens are being racially attacked by people who could care less about “truth”. Albert Tate said it best “you want a lie in truth’s clothing, or you want the naked truth”! Truth is Michael Brown as other suspects should never fight the police, resist arrest, of engage in criminal activity. Michael Brown is a thug. If one forgets, he is 6’4” and on video taking cigars and pushing the small Asian owner out of the way. He decides to fight the officer, and wrestle over the officer’s gun, while still strapped into his car (fact). Oh and lets print only photos of suspects that make them look innocent, not as they actually appear with their thug poses, gang tats, gang signs. Like Lynn Jr does on his webpage.

Sheriff David Clark said it best; the group needs to change their banner to “black lies matters", The surrender of truth in service of political correctness to attract African Americans to your cause is disingenuous and does nothing but fan the flames of racial animus. Take a Stand against crime, and criminals. Fact, more whites get shot or injured because they fight or assault police. By the way you (Bill Hybels) send your people to Ferguson? Who went to stand up over the death of 9 year Jamyla Boldon ? There was only had one person standing outside her home. Where was “common” well he has a common response. Where was GLS? (Billy you have the money to travel).

To promote such a platform is to fan the fire for more of the uninformed, the anarchist, and the criminal element. It says" push the limit they can’t do anything about it". You attack police, resist arrest, burn down businesses, and then complain you have no place to shop in your neighborhood. As Dr. Ben Carson stated, the black culture has to change from a welfare state, unwed teen mothers, and non supportive young black males to that of responsibility. As for the movie SELMA , (Bill Hybels ) you took your employees to see, it. Well you may want to rethink, and research the movie. Some folks who were there said that several crucial facts were distorted. “Political correctness” is throwing “naked Truth” out of the window. It was at the moment “common started his rhetoric” I realized, for me, that all this promotion of Leadership and kum-ba-ya, is about not taking a stand, one way or the other. Unless I missed it, did anyone say anything about sin? Violation of the 10 commandments? It is the promotion of being bigger, richer, more eloquent, and never hurting someone’s feelings by being rigorously honest. Based upon the “totality of the circumstances” of everything I have heard, this company/ org. does not take a stand any more than a politician.

I strongly believe Christians should express loving kindness to all, and live out the New Testament declaration that “God is no respecter of persons” The new Testament also calls us to be good citizens, obey the law, and to submit to civil authority that he has ordained to restrain evil. The words you tacitly endorsed in “common’s” song have been used as a rallying cry to inspire disdain for Police, the burning of black neighborhoods by blacks themselves, and sewing of the seeds of racial hatred and anarchy. I am deeply disappointed that You, this organization, would provide a forum for the advancement of this “LIE” in order to make your audience (not congregation )look more inclusive is morally wrong. You sacrifice the truth for the sake of appearance is cowardice and I want no part of it.

As of Saturday July 29th, 2015 a Harris County Deputy Sheriff (Houston TX) was murdered by a black male with a lengthy criminal history. All while the Deputy was fueling his SQD car at a gas station. No reason other than he is law enforcement.

Hybels just did a leadership conference with the Gates. I thought that they were into eugenics.
