Encouraging and Inspiring Bible Verses During Hard Times
Are you on the verge of giving up, feeling you cannot endure any longer what you’re going through? Are you feeling hopeless, helpless and in despair? Are you feeling as if no one cares for you including God? Are you feeling worthless, useless, stupid and time after time you’ve kept asking God to kill you?
Do you feel as if your life is lacking direction? Do you feel as if nobody understands you? Are you hurting but you don’t want to tell anybody because nobody seems to understand you? Do you feel as if nobody including God loves you? Are you depressed?
Sometimes we feel it is better we die than be alive though we know there’re good things life has to offer us. Some people have gone as far as committing suicide because they couldn’t figure out if they would ever come out of what they were going through. All over the world people are hurting. Many of us have learned to hide the hurt, the desperation, the loneliness because once we display them in front of others whom we feel they love and understand us; we end up becoming more depressed and lonely.
You don’t have to lose heart. Remember you aren’t the only one undergoing what you’re going through. You need to take courage knowing that you aren’t the only one in the world who is suffering.
God has said, and what He says is always a promise, ‘He will never leave His people nor will He forsake them.’ At times we may feel we are alone in the world. We may feel we are in the middle of a raging ocean and there is none with us in the boat – only you and you alone. During these times we should remember God’s words and encourage ourselves in them even if we feel as if God had abandoned us.
In Deuteronomy 31: 8, Moses told the Israelite after they were delivered from the oppressive hand of the Egyptian king and were heading to the Promised Land, “It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
Jesus has commanded us to cast our burdens – worries, loneliness, uncertainty, hopelessness etc – to Him and He will be able to take care of it. It is until we accept we are in the deepest pit and we need God’s aid is when we will feel His strong hand reaching out to hold ours. In fact, God’s hand is always outstretched to help us. We never realize it because we are too much focused on the challenges we’re undergoing which blinds us from noticing God’s hand which is inviting us to hold it so that He may help us.
For God has said, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God: I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:210)
Remember, God “heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)
- “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your GOD is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
Take courage, be encouraged, don’t give up, don’t lose hope, press on, cry to God, ask Him to help you. He will help you, He will always be there for you, His guardian angel is always by your side, He loves you, He cares for you and He understands you. You can count on Him for He never fails.
- For God so loved the world that He gave His Only begotten Son that whatsoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
God does indeed love you and He does care for you and understands you. In this world you will pass through a lot of hardships. Don’t give up when you face tribulations because one day there will be no more sufferings, no more pain, no more uncertainties, no more worries.
- I have said these things to you, that in time you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

2 Corinthians 1:3-5
3-4 What a wonderful God we have—he is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the source of every mercy, and the one who so wonderfully comforts and strengthens us in our hardships and trials. And why does he do this? So that when others are troubled, needing our sympathy and encouragement, we can pass on to them this same help and comfort God has given us. 5 You can be sure that the more we undergo sufferings for Christ, the more he will shower us with his comfort and encouragement.
37 but despite all this, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ who loved us enough to die for us. 38 For I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t, and life can’t. The angels won’t, and all the powers of hell itself cannot keep God’s love away. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow,
33 I have told you all this so that you will have peace of heart and mind. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows; but cheer up, for I have overcome the world.”
11 But, O my soul, don’t be discouraged. Don’t be upset. Expect God to act! For I know that I shall again have plenty of reason to praise him for all that he will do. He is my help! He is my God!
8 Don’t be afraid, for the Lord will go before you and will be with you; he will not fail nor forsake you.”
10 Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed. I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.[a]
31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
13 Is anyone among you suffering? He should keep on praying about it. And those who have reason to be thankful should continually be singing praises to the Lord.
