Facing doubt in your faith.

Updated on March 17, 2013

Look how God created and man enhanced

Do you enhance God's Love?

Doubt should make you uncomfortable.

Yes doubt should make you uncomfortable. But discussing your doubts should be a free and easy experience. Facing doubt is better than ignoring it. Faith is only as strong as its foundation in you. If that foundation has some cracks get in there and find out why and fix them or at least strengthen the area around them.

So I preach today about doubt. Doubting is not a sin.

Doubting is not a violation of any commandment. Doubting is natural.

I freely admit to having doubts. I really do doubt about all that killing of children in the Old Testament. I really do doubt about physical lakes of fire. I sometimes doubt at my sanity in believing in wild miracles. Sometimes I doubt that my love is strong enough. Look there I feel better just admitting some doubts.

So I preach today about things I have no doubt about

Love is part of God. Love can conquer all things because it is in and of itself divine. I 100% have no doubt that I am loved by God. I 100% believe that God loves you.

Now: Does having doubts make me less of a Believer?

Maybe it does. Maybe I should have no doubts. But that is a good thing. It means I have room to grow and that God is not done with me. It means I have been chosen to learn more and share my doubts with others so that they also may grow.

Now we can share our doubts and console and love each other in our weakness.

Thank you Lord for giving me doubts so that I can search more and understand more of your love.

To all of those who look to me for guidance and lose some respect for me, because of my doubts; Amen. For I am not to be respected in the Word. Only my Love is to be respected, for that comes directly through the Spirit in Love and is divine. Reject me and my human ways, reject my words if they do not come to you in Love. Reject my doubts if they do not bring solace. Reject me, as I try to reject me.

Now go doubt that Spring will ever come!!!

This is as close as I can get to visualizing God on an actual throne

My angel can pass judgment on me all day long, it just means she cares.

Doubt means "I have room to grow." This is as practical as truth gets. We think alike here. Amen to the prayer ". . . so that I can search more and understand more of your love."

This was more like a prayer than a hub and all the better for that. Thanks Eric. I think I ought to share it on Facebook. They might even start to think I am a good person then.

Amen. We are tasked to think. We are required to doubt. You are my brother because you question not because you believe. This we must sit down and break bread about. (I like mine with some garlic and olive oil with maybe a little Parmesan)

We are so funny to think we can hide our doubts from God, like silly old Adam hiding. Thank you for this comment, I really like "invited to" as you use it.

Regarding doubt in the Judeo-Christian paradigm, I am especially encouraged by Isaiah 1:18: "Come let us reason together", by the story of Jacob wrestling with the angel, and by the story of doubting Thomas---Thomas may not be as "blessed as those who have not seen yet believe", but by honestly telling Jesus of his skepticism, he was invited to touch his Lord.
