The fourth chakra or heart chakra is located in the middle of the chest near the heart and is associated with the color green. This chakra controls ideals of love, compassion, kindness, and acceptance. Those with a strong heart chakra are very empathetic and compassionate people. They have an understand of how others feel and can typically put themselves in other peoples shoes, looking at situations from more than one point of view. People with a strong heart chakra are also very kind and forgiving in nature and make trustworthy and loyal friends. The heart chakra is truly at the center of love and relationships, but he idea of love spans much more than love in the romantic sense; it also refers to self-love and universal love, the ideas of acceptance, trust, and appreciate in all beings and things.

As the center of the heart, the fourth chakra is all focused on love and acceptance. Trust and forgiveness, therefore, are very important aspects of this chakra. Those that have a high energy in the heart chakra trust very easily and are also more accepting of all types of people. These ideals are all things that we should strive for, and, when paired with the third eye and crown chakras, we begin to see the true and ultimate purpose of human nature; to love and accept those for who they are. If you have a strong crown and heart chakra, you will see this and that our goal as a human race extends to creating a global community of brothers and sisters who love and accept all people, no matter who they are or where they come from. It is important to have an understanding of acceptance and tolerance in relation to your heart chakra.

If you have a blockage or an imbalance in your heart chakra, you are most likely suffering in some aspect of your relationships or your emotions. You may feel emotionally unstable and care more about your own benefits than that of others. Often those with an imbalance in the heart chakra become easily jealous of others as well as having trust issues when forming relationships. They have a hard time figuring out how they relate with others and are usually very lonely. These imbalances can actually also lead to health issues related to the heart and lungs, which explains why those with asthma and other lung issues might have some kind of blockage in the heart chakra.

Find a peaceful place to meditate and surround yourself with the color green. This may be in the form of a chakra card or picture you have gotten from the internet. Consider also using a guided meditation audio clip to get you started. Breathe in slowly and exhale slowly, focusing your attention on your lungs and chest as you breath in and out. As you meditate, think about your relation to others and the energy that is emanating from your chest. Use these positive affirmations to give you a better sense of self as your meditate:
- I am confident with myself and have a love and acceptance for all people
- I am very trusting and kind to others
- I forgive those who have hurt me in the past
-I appreciate myself and my life, and therefore I can appreciate others.
Consider also placing green stones or crystals around you as you meditate to truly enhance your experience when meditating on your heart chakra.
Listen To Your Heart
In order to strengthen your heart chakra, you must listen to your heart and what your body is telling you. What relationships in your life can you seek to improve? How can you help others on a daily basis? Is there someone you have wronged in the past that you need to apologize to? Is there someone you personally need to forgive for something they did to you in the past? Consider using therapy and other conflict-resolution techniques to further strengthen your energy in your heart chakra. You may want to sit down and make a list of all the ways that you can improve your relationships and become a more trusting and forgiving person. Think about getting involved in your community and helping others. Balancing your chakras isn't just an act of meditation, but also a way of life in which you can use your strengths and your abilities to improve your quality of life. Don't just think about the theories behind this; put those theories in practice and live your life with a full and open heart!
