Take the love test

See if You Can Finish This Sentence, What is Love?

Let’s take a little love test. See how good you score.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13: 6

Love is patient. How patient are you with your loved ones? How patient are you with those you work with?

Love is kind. In what way do you show your wife or children kindness every day? What do you do for your co-workers it exhibit Christian kindness?

It does not envy. Do you envy your brother or sister because they got a better grade than you on your report card? Do you envy a friend because they went on a fantastic vacation? Instead pray from that envy to be removed. Thank God for all the wonderful gifts He has given you.

It does not boast. Do you like to make yourself out better than other family members or friends? Think about how humiliating it was when there was a super team that was defeated by a lesser team. I am rembering the U.S. basketball team that was arrogant going into an Olympics and was humiliatingly defeated.

It is not proud (to me that means arrogant). Are you too proud to help out someone who is a different culture or colour than you? Do you brag about a special skill you have? Think about your favorite athlete say twenty years ago. They were invincible. Look at them now. Your special skill can be taken from you at any moment. Instead, why not give thanks to God for that skill and use it to help others. You will glorify His name, be a good witness for Him and feel pretty good too.

It does not dishonour others. Do you take some perverted pleasure in putting other people down and then laughing at them? I can write pages about my experiences with these pond scum. Be warned. Your day will come with no warning and your fall will be hard.

It is not self seeking. How many times have you put what you want above the concern of others? Surround yourself with yourself and you will end up with no one but yourself.

It is not easily angered. Are you a hot head who explodes at the slightest provocation? Then you are the bull with the ring through its nose that will be manipulated by others.

It keeps no record of wrongs. Is there someone who did you wrong and you refuse to forgive them? It has been so long since the incident occurred you do not even remember why you are angry with them any more? What a waste.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. What are your hobbies? Where your love is that is what you want to share with others? If you like fishing you will want to share fishing stories and the best lure to use. If on the other hand you love money you it will consume your every thought. Be careful your love does not lead others astray.

It always protects. If someone is trying to rip off a friend, do you jump in or are you unconcerned or afraid? Always strive to do what is right in the eyes of Jesus.

It always trusts. How much do you trust your husband, friends or children? If you do not, think of constructive ways to gain that trust. Maybe discuss it with a pastor or councilor.

It always hopes. Is there a friend or family member that is undecided on a career and do you hope for their best?

It always perseveres. What unresolved problems are there between a loved one and you? Do you persevere with them or are you a quitter? Sometimes we need someone to help us and give us strength when we are week. When you feel weak and giving up, go to that special someone and talk it out. Of course there is always your best friend: Jesus. Take it to Him in sincere prayer. Lay it all out on Him. That is what He wants you to do.

Prayer: Oh Jehovah Jireh, Please send to Holy Spirit to teach me and empower me to always be a loving Christian. It is the most difficult, but rewarding experience in life. In our beautiful kings name Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

May the sunshine of Jesus’ sweet love bless you toady and every day.

I don’t measure up to that kind of unconditional love. I must submit to the love of God loving through me – then and only then do people see that kind of love in me.
