Meaning of the Words En Fuego

Translated from Spanish, literally means "on fire!"

What is En Fuego?

En Fuego is an all-day, free Christian concert and rally, with top Christian artists and bands of the day, performing in Verbena, Alabama. The event is held annually in the middle of a big open field, where thousands of mostly young students (as well as older persons alike) gather in praise and worship to the glorify of our Lord God!

It is certainly something very special to witness, especially seeing so many young people on fire (those sold-out, committed, believers) for our Lord God! Those who may not even be Christians come from far and wide to listen to the amazing music by top Christian artists such as Jeremy Camp, Fireflight, Hawk Nelson, Citizen Way, Tedashii, Haley Morgan Smith and Scott Dawson.

All of these artists travel to Verbena, Alabama, to be a part of this amazing ministry to share, minister, witness, worship and sing praises to our Lord God. It is a phenomenal event, where one is filled to overflowing with the power of the Holy Spirit's presence in witnessing changed lives forever!

This year, the weather here has been so much kinder as far as the heat of August, than in past years. Verbena, Alabama, is located just a small distance down the Interstate from where I now live.

Please check out the wonderful testimonials of those who attended En Fuego! You will certainly be amazed at the changed lives and their personal true accounts told here of their experience of attending En Fuego.

Fired up for God

This one-day festival where young persons from all denominations and backgrounds come together for the sole purpose of worship and witness our Lord Jesus Christ literally change lives. Once lives are truly changed by the Lord, it is not just a "feel good" feeling for a couple of hours or days, but forever, for the lives are transformed by knowing of the love of Jesus in their hearts.

As each years passes, the following En Fuego event is even more spectacular than the year before! The event is outdoors. Some have referred to it as, "The Christian Woodstock of This Generation" with its camp-like feel. Those in attendance have the feeling of such intimacy, yet at the same time, fueled with such intensity.

En Fuego is located in central Alabama. Initially it began with just a group of 300 or so students. Since its inception in 1996, it has grown to, now, more than 20,000 people all gathered in the open hillside annually for the purpose of exalting the name of Jesus Christ!

En Fuego has become a regional event that touches many youth all around the Southeast. This event brings with it some the best student communicators in the entire country to offer messages of the hope found in our sweet Lord Jesus Christ. It also attracts some of the hottest bands in Christian music for worship, geared towards the younger generation.

What is truly amazing is that it dispels the stereo-type that Christians are nerdy, but all who attend see just how "cool" it is to be a Christian, and come away with such a new outlook on life where lives are changed forever to His glory!

There is no doubt that this is a ministry of the Lord, for the mere fact of such immense growth, year after year in seeing hundreds of students each year come to know Christ and make commitments or renewal, where many are called into full-time ministry.

Hawk Nelson - Words

En Fuego History

Way back in 1996, during a small student retreat in West Alabama, God's vision for En Fuego was born, after the speaker at such event was approached by a young girl who told the speaker that she had just asked Jesus into her heart. You see, this young girl came from a very unstable home life, but now was excited to return home and tell of such Good News.

The Holy Spirit spoke a simple message into the heart of this young man, the speaker, to do this again, but much bigger! Right away, this young man contacted one of his closet friends in ministry, who was also soon filled with such passion in his heart for this vision to be realized. Rapidly, a team of ministers and lay-persons gathered together to make this vision a reality.

It was in the fall of 1997, En Fuego came to fruition. When we step out in faith, God shows up mightily and moves powerfully in the hearts of all involved. All God desires is that we make ourselves available to be used by Him.

Fireflight Live - American Christian Rock Band That Attracts a lot of Non-Christian Fans Too

"He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire." (Matthew 3:11)

In Conclusion

There are committed team members, who pray diligently, and each year this event is incredible, and the following year even more so. It is a beautiful thing to see God move only as He can!

If you are ever in this area at the time of this free awesome festival, then you do not want to miss it!

En Fuego this year, 2013, was the best one ever in every aspect from God providing such a beautiful day, ministry-minded bands and a powerful message of His love and saving grace.

The best of the best is that there was a harvest of souls! Those who are on fire for the Lord, the real, sold-out, committed believer. Praise Him! To God be the glory!

Fire is a symbol for cleansing, purifying, or sanctifying, and can also serve as a symbol of God’s presence. God purifies us with fire (trials) to make us ready to reign with Him in His everlasting kingdom, without end. As we yield to the fire of God, we will become over-comers and a light in a dark world!

Hope you enjoyed the one-day festival!

God bless you. In His Love, Faith Reaper

      LOL Michael,

Well, I am glad I was missed! We had our granddaughters up for the weekend and just returned home a bit ago from taking them back home. So, I had to catch up on those who have been commenting on my hubs all weekend.

Happy to report my angel with the broken wing appears to be healed as she no longer has the cast on and is able to lift her arm up way above her head and even use her pinky finger too with not one bit of a problem! She has been doing physical therapy a little bit each day to stretch out her elbow/arm in that manner and I really do not see that it is hindering her one bit and she has no pain whatsoever! Praise Him!

She did not want to leave and wanted to stay four more days LOL. But alas, school for her and work for the rest of us as usual.

I am so blessed knowing how much they love me/us. It is a joy one cannot describe unless one knows of such.

I believe I am caught up on my commenting on my own hubs, and so I will venture over to your side of HP Town and see what wondrous poetry you have written this day.

      Hugs, Faith Reaper

      Hi Tijani,

Thanks so much. Oh,I love Hillsong too, they are an awesome Christian band. This is a Christian music festival, so there is a big difference between "religious" and being a Christian, to me at least.

I am thrilled that it is growing in numbers as each year passes, attracting non-believers as well as believers. So, I know it is a God thing for it is held in the middle of pretty much nowhere lol ... and I am thrilled that the most popular Christians bands of the day participate as a ministry to spread of the love of Christ.

      Thank you for reading.

      Hi Romeos,

Yes, it is amazing how much this event has grown over the years to attract all from all over the state. It is a God thing no doubt. The bands who play at the festival, do so as part of their ministry, and as you state, normally, such an event would be very costly to attend, especially nowadays with the cost of tickets so high. The artists are the top music artists of this day in their genre.

I appreciate your visit here this night, and I do hope you are able to get more Megabytes for your gadget to listen to the music.

      Peace and hugs, Faith Reaper

Sure sounds like it would have been a great place to attend in Alabama; there are a few Christian open air concerts over here, but certainly doesn't attract as many numbers as yours...20, 000? Wow! A wonderful message as well, and it's free, too - amazing, because music festivals are normally so expensive.

A great Hub, with some artists I've never heard of, but shall catch up on your vids when I get some some more Megabytes for my gadget.

Thank you Faith, and wishing you a peaceful night.

      Dear Blossom,

So lovely to see you stopping for a visit here this day!

Yes, it is uplifting that there are such events where the young, especially, but old alike, gather to hear a positive message of hope and love... that true divine love like no other. It is encouraging as each year passes, it seems to grow and grow and draw more and more. The top music artists of this genre (contemporary Christian music) are wonderful for singing of the Lord in a way that attracts all. Music is a powerful medium to so do.

God bless. Have a lovely weekend,

These types of unifying opportunities for young people (and the young at heart) are so uplifting. I get chills just recalling the gatherings like this that we attended mainly in the Atlanta area. Often Christian groups would gather and thousands would come to be filled with God's love. It was incredible and the effects of the experience was long lasting. I often went as my daughter would often be involved in some aspect of the events.

The event you have just shared sounds as if it is really a celebration of God and His love. Thank you so much for sharing this...and thanks for reminding me of how uplifting these events are. There is just something so powerful about gathering in God's name to celebrate and be filled with His spirit that is like nothing else.

Angels are on the way to you this morning...ps

      Hi Lori (lambservant),

So glad to see you here this day! Yes, it is an awesome event, especially for all of the young people who attend! I would have gone this year, being that the weather was not so terribly hot like normal in August, but with my husband's knee, we could not have made it this year. I passed on the previous years for that same fact about the extreme heat, hence, the young people are able to tolerate it more it seems. I remember those days. : )

Thank you for sharing about CreationFest, wow, sounds awesome too, and the three days, that is amazing!!! I love the Bible teaching aspect of the event as well.

But I have friends that go every year and say it is amazing. It lasts usually for 3 days and there is Bible teaching as well.

      Hi Frank,

Thank you for the smiles this morning once again with that comment ... spreading the fire : )

Seriously, this event is just so awesome as to how it was started and how God moved on it and blessed it to grow it each year with almost 20,000 in attendance this year and completely free. I love reading of all the powerful testimonies here.

It is a local event literally held in the middle of a big field, in the middle of pretty much nowhere, but all seem to find it, as it is spread by word of mouth mostly but here of late there has been much advertising on the web, etc. and in newspapers too!

That is another amazing thing, which is that it is not held in some big arena in a major city, but way out of the way in a place no one has heard of, but locally. However, it attracts many from far and wide.

Bless you too and thank you for the sweet comment.

Yes, it is a great day with positive message of hope, love and spreading the word of God's love through music for all to enjoy. I was unable to attend this year due to my husband's knee.

Oh, how interesting about your cousin, I will have to look him up.

      I appreciate your kind comments.

      God bless you, Faith Reaper

Faith, voted up and across but funny. You covered this wonderfully. Also shared on FB. I can't understand why people are greedy with free buttons :) Anyway, I love the message behind it all, which is serving the Lord. I've never heard of this event before, nor do I get out much. My cousin is a Christian singer, Ben Vance from Wisconsin. I don't talk to him though. Great work as always Faith, God Bless, and see you around.

      Hi Joelle (kidscrafts),

Always so nice when you stop by to read and comment! Yes, it is a local event held annually. Maybe one can be started in your area. Yes, that is what they call it, "The Christian version of Woodstock" with positive messages of hope and love in today's world, and it is free. Up to 20,000 or more young and old alike attended this years' all-day music festival.

The top Christian music artist come to share their ministry to spreading the good news of God's love and eternal salvation. A lot of youth who attend may know of Fireflight, the band with the lead female vocalist, who really rock out, and so a lot of non-believers, especially young people are attracted to their music due to it being rock, but the message is of God and His love, and hopefully His words are pierced into their hearts long after they leave the concert. One does not have to stay the entire day from Noon to 10:00 p.m. and can arrive at a particular time to just hear the band one would love to hear, but usually all of the youth arrive and stay the entire day and just pretty much camp out and enjoy the day. This year was a blessing without the normal extreme heat of August!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts here which add much to the subject matter of the mission of this ministry.

      I appreciate the votes up.

Have a great day. Hugs and love, Faith Reaper

      Dear Faith,

I never heard of that event! When I was reading your hub and I looked at the pictures, it reminded me of Woodstock except that the En Fuego gathering seems more organic and growing each year. I like the idea especially for kids and young adults of gathering together with music and messages that are good for the soul. Parents are so busy working sometimes that they don't have time and energy to give a moral compass to their kids and an event such as En Fuego can help stir some kids in the good direction.

As a society, we have to invest in time and money toward children and young adults because they are our future.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful hub, Faith!

      Voted up and very interesting!

      Hi Bill (lifegate),

Yes, it is only a one-day event. The gates open at Noon and it lasts well into the evening with the two most popular bands playing last. I have the schedule included in the hub. So, it winds down around 10:00 p.m.. What is really great is that one can arrive at the event at any time and it is completely free. Let's say one does not want to stay for over ten hours or so, and cares only to see the last featured band, which is usually the most popular band, but all are wonderful Christian artists, then one would not have to arrive at Noon and stay the entire day, but it would be a blessing to be able to stay the entire day no doubt. Usually all the youth who attend arrive at Noon and stay the entire day.

Maybe you can get one started up in your area. The Christian artists that are the hottest of this day, love to come to minister and share the Gospel. The also have special commenters who share their personal testimonies. If you click on testimonies, you will see just how many have received a blessing by attending such event.

      Thank you for reading.

od bless you. In His Love Always, Faith Reaper

      Hi Faith,

You know I saw the picture and thought, "...looks like Woodstock". Then I read your line, "Some have referred to it as, "The Christian Woodstock of This Generation" with its camp-like feel. " Thanks for the confirmation. Is it only a one day event?

      Oh, Bill,

What is really great too, is that it attracts people from all backgrounds, those who do not know the Lord due to the great music artists which non-Christians love too and after their experience they may come away knowing more of His great love just by attending such much festival.

That is the power of music, it is so universal and appealing to all, and this event provides such a great venue for a positive message of love and grace to be shared and enjoyed by all who attend. Plus it is a great atmosphere of coming together in peace and harmony and possibly meet new friends for life!

      Blessings, Faith Reaper

      Hi Bill,

Always so great to see you here stopping by to read! Thank you very much.

Yes, this is such an amazing local event that draws literally up to 20,000 people and it is completely free with tons of the hottest music artists around. Wonderful experience. I was unable to attend this year due to my husband's knee surgery recovery time, but hope to next year.

      Blessings and hugs, Faith Reaper

      Hi Jackie,

I was unable to attend this year, unfortunately, due to my husband and his knee and recovering from surgery and all. But it was stated it was the best yet and they just keep getting better each year.

What is so awesome is that it is free and attracts the top artists of the day, and so many youth are attracted, both non-Christian and Christian alike. Oh, yes, it is for all ages too! I know I really love Jeremy Camp for sure, and some of the other bands are sure to attract the youth.

It is a wonderful time of ministry, praise and worship to our Lord God.

It almost does not need to be advertised, for it is known mostly by word of mouth that each year, there it will be and completely free, for an all-day concert with top artists is hard to find this day.

Oh, yes, the artists are all Christians and their music is taken straight from His word to glorify Him but put to music for all to enjoy in any genre.

There are many older persons going along with church groups in buses by the dozens, so many older persons who love the praise and worship time too and the artists.

God bless. In His Love, Faith Reaper

Hamm, I wonder why this is showing published 11 hours ago, as I just published it at 6:00 am., had to ask a question!

Did you go this year? Sounds fantastic and hope it is not just for the youth but it is great if it draws the youth of course! Personally I love the young singers for Christ, for they speak today's language and although I will always adore certain traditional hymns I have grown in my heart and thinking ever since hearing "Love Song" and I wish older Christians would give the young their way in worshiping God, with blessings. As long as it is all in truth, they deserve their own version, spoken and sung!
