Forgive Me,Lord, For What I Said

Updated on December 27, 2012

Forgive Me, Lord, For What I Said

Forgive me ,Lord, for all that I've said ,

For things I didn't say and should have.

Speaking when I should have been quiet,

Not speaking Your Word when I could have.

Forgive me for all the times I babbled on,

Not lying but for unkind things I have said.

All those times I failed to speak Your Word,

When all my good intentions up and fled.

Oh, how many times have I failed You. Lord.

In all my life, by word or thought or by deed?

How many failures are back there in my past

When somewhere I failed to plant a seed?

Some of those seeds that I have planted,

Grew on hard ground, ugly but strong and tall.

Oh , Lord, please forgive things I have said,

Please help my good deeds to overshadow all!

Those bygone years have all been forgiven ,

All of the sins are back there in the past.

They have been covered by Your .Blood.

Guilt is gone ,but memories will always last.

If we would just turn back in the beginning

To the Lord Who is ever Faithful and True,

We would never be sorry for words spoken.,

We would speak only His Word in all we do !

I am sure that in all of the world you could never

find one person who has no regrets, regrets for

things that we have said or done or for things

that we had never done that we should have ..

Unfortunately we can't change things that have

happened back in our past but we can pray

for Jesus to forgive us and to live the way He

would have us live from now on, Just think, if He

had never come down to cleanse man's heart

we would carry all that sin with us till the day we

die. What a horrible thought that we would live

with every wicked thing we had ever done!

Glad that you like this poem ,Tessie, you see God gives me a variety of poems to write, I hope that they reach the ones that really need them . Some of them I need myself ,sometimes we say things that we shouldn't have or had no intention of saying,I think a lot of us will have to be more careful there.Love you ,Cherry

Forgive Me Lord For What I Said (or didn't say when I should have said something). We are probably all guilty of these things. I like this one. It is a good one, carries a great message and projects good thinking. Another good job dear friend. Much love always, Tessie

Thank you ,shofarcall, for your nice comment ,there are so many times that we speak without thinking and we cause a lot of trouble that way.I guess we all need to be a little quicker in thinking and a little slower in speaking. We all know that once words have been uttered we can not take them back again, no matter how hard we may try. Clara

What a pertinent poem for us all Clara. Thank you. Thank you for reminding us of the power of and in the blood and of what an imperfect muscle the tongue is. No wonder so many religious orders practice silence!
