Forgiving Others

Forgiving Others

Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked servant ,’ he said,’ I canceled all the debt of yours because you begged me to. Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you.’

Matthew 18: 32-33

There are times that we are so easy to forget the greatness of God’s forgiveness and mercy to us that we find it very difficult for us to forgive a fellow brother of a minor offense he committed against us.

In our daily lives, we encounter people that will provoke us to anger, that will cause us to carry grudges, people who will cause deep pain in our emotions. But no matter how great are the trangressions against us, we are given no other alternative but to forgive such person. Yes we are to forgive others despite the fact that they slandered our name, backbited us, or even betrayed us, or deprived us with some of our legal rights.

We have no any single right to withhold forgiveness to them, Because God has never deprived us of His mercy and forgiveness. If we refuse to forgive, surely God also will not forgive us. If we have truly seen our utter depravity and realized our sinfulness, we would realize the immensity of God’s forgiveness and mercy given to us. We too will be forgiving and merciful to our fellow men who offended us.

Before I used to harbor grudges in my heart, I used to be very unforgiving. But when I realized my utter depravity before the Holy God , I realized that I have no any single reason to be unforgiving or to hold grudges. I become forgiving after realizing my sinfulness and how greatly God has forgiven me.

Great hub and so true. Harboring grudges and bitterness also holds us in a state of repeating problems and trouble. Forgiveness can free us from all of that and let us move forward.

This is so true.  When I think back on how and why God forgave me and what He forgave, I can’t help but say; I forgive.
