From Our Heads to Our Hearts to Our Knees

Updated on September 12, 2011

The big, red numbers on the alarm clock read 12:59am. By 4:30am I was still praying. God has burdened my heart, and I must share it with you. In Nehemiah 1:4 we see the stricken heart of Nehemiah as he weeps, mourns, fasts, and prays before the God of Heaven. In Ezra 8:21 we see Ezra proclaiming a fast at he river of Ahava. Of course Esther proclaims a fast on behalf of her people in Esther 4:16.

Fasting born from an anguished heart is something that is not seen much these days. You see, God's heart is filled with anguish. The simple reason we do not have anguished hearts is because we do not seek to have the heart of God.

We have such a knowledge of the Bible that it has gone to our heads, but very rarely to our hearts. And all the while the battle rages.

Paul clearly tells us in Ephesians 6:12, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

We know this, but the truth of the matter is we must get it from our heads to our hearts. Once it is in our hearts we must get it to our knees in weeping, mourning, praying, and fasting. Can we really expect to wrestle our entire nation from the clutches of satan without much effort. It will take all of us, wrestling in effectual, fervent prayer to win the battle.

The head knowledge is there, but how many of us really have it in our hearts to enter the battle by falling to our knees to wrestle America from the devil? It is the only way it can be done. But do you care? Do you care enough about your country and the glory of God to give Him your best? Do you believe it can be done? Trust God for something big.

Do we even realize that this is a battle? There are lives that depend on us to do combat with the devil whether they realize it or not. A 15 minute prayer here and there will have very little effect on the principalities, powers, rulers of darkness, and spiritual wickedness that assaults this nation. Do we realize what God can do, what God would do, if we cried out to him with a sense of urgency and anguish?

Deuteronomy 4:29 tells us, “But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. “ We must seek God every day with our whole being. My prayer for you is that the God of Heaven will infect your whole being—body, soul, and spirit.

My friend, this is war and you are in the battle, like it or not. It is time we all step up and take our rightful place as warriors, and in the power and authority of Jesus Christ resist the devil and wrestle America from his grasp. This is not a political battle. This is a spiritual battle. It can only be won in the spiritual realm. I cannot emphasize it enough. Now is the time to get on our knees and do battle. I truly believe we are about to see God do some of His most wonderful works, but it will not be without cost. The cost will be great. The blessings will be greater. We simply must resolve to withstand the satanic attack on our nation and settle for nothing less than true, Holy Ghost ,nationwide revival.

If it is in your head, that is not enough. You need to get it in your heart. From there it will find its way to your knees. Would you fall on your knees today--or better yet, would you fall on your face before God and seek Him? He is the only hope America has.

My closing comment is this—satan will resist you even as you read this. Fight on. Make your stand. Take your place as a child of God, not to be bullied, but to overcome.

Thanks for the visit. It's always good to hear from you. Yes truly, it's the heart that matters. And yet it seems so hard sometimes to adjust my mind to my heart. Thanbks again!

Oh great message Lifegate. You said, "We have such a knowledge of the Bible that it has gone to our heads, but very rarely to our hearts. And all the while the battle rages." Why is that? This issue comes back and bites me every once in a while and I have been on my knees of late about it. What is in our hearts is more important than knowledge in our heads. Thank you for a timely message as always. Voted up and the rest.

Nice page and true. We must do and not just know. If we lack in wisdom, heart, strength or whatever- we can ask God who won't withhold any good thing from us and he gives us what we need to serve him.

We have not because we ask not-Don't let it be the reason we don't move forward.

We do it anyway- even if we don't feel like it!

      Or be defeated-period.

Boy, "the delusions of comfort" have put us in a real mess today, and it is just that--delusions. We need to get our batteries charged and start shining bright again. As always, thanks for stopping by. You're a blessing!

May we make ourselves available to the Holy Spirit to be moved in concern and prayer for the spiritual condition of our families and country. May we awake from our slumber and the delusions of comfort.

Yes, the Christian life is a life of striving and never should we settle for anything less than the glory of God. Thanks for the visit, and keep on keeping on!!

Excellent brother... as I was reading I was reminded of the study I just completed in Jude... "Contend for the Faith." We all need to stand our ground we have won for the Lord.

      Blessings and Hugs

Thanks Lifegate for this powerful message. I have a family member in need of prayer. I have been praying for him for awhile now, but sometimes I feel that it will take more than just me praying for him for a miracle to work. His is a spiritual battle that is being fought. I think sometimes it is easy to live comfortably with Christ and forget that there are spiritual battles that need to be prepared for. I haven't fallen to my knees or face yet, but do believe in the power of pray and how badly it is needed. Thanks again!

      Thank you Lifegate

You are so right. I’ve been experiencing the movement of truth from my head to my heart. Now I must make sure it moves to my knees and as you say to my face. You are right again; This is not a political battle. This is a spiritual battle. It can only be won in the spiritual realm.
