"Get Rich on Love" Pt. 1

Updated on June 16, 2011

Listening to the Heart of a Servant

Nowadays, we are flooded with the media’s definition of love. One needs only to go to any newspaper's classified ads for entertainment and one will find various ads purporting to be the avenues of love.

"Love" is said to be an emotion of strong affection which brings personal attachment. Love along with joy and peace and are virtues but the greatest of all is love. Also in the area of religion, the foundation for all spiritual law is that God is love taken from 1John 4:8, 16 (KJV).

Philosophically, the word “love” has been defined as;

1. Philos – brotherly love from Phillip 2 of Macedonia, the father of Alexander the great (Megas Alexandros)

2. Eros – flesh, carnal, cupid, erotic or strong feelings towards another; lust, lasciviousness

3. Agape – unconditional love, brotherly love, affection, good will, love, benevolence

4. narcissism – love of oneself

Common Thread

But we see a common thread within each definition of love and that is; they are all geared to service.

Therefore love is a response or advance, often times affecting the emotions which is qualified by the type of service rendered.

In other words, you love much, you give much and you love little then you give little.

Right away, someone will say, “My friend doesn’t like me because I can tell by their gift”. Don’t be an ungrateful sloth; at the very least he gave you something and furthermore, it is the condition of the heart of the giver, the one that serves and not merely on the gift itself.

These are 2 examples of how love falls under the context of service,

· Christians come out to worship services religiously as a response to the love of God. In other words the Spirit of God did something that declared his love. In other words, grace was made available when he reconciled man and man recognizing that only a loving God would give such justification, submitted himself and followed God.

· An unmarried man is drawn to a sister because of certain qualities that appeal firstly to his natural man and will make certain advances. He may make allowances in his schedule that he be stationed within her view so that the advancements may continue.

Service is a necessary part of love but not everyone that supply service is as a result of love.

The service of a mailman or a taxicab driver may be a means to an end but nevertheless there is a service involved.

A prostitute may not love their hazardous profession but a service is involved to a client who loves the service and considers it the best thing since apple pie.

Must do Something

But you must do something in order to participate in either one of these definitions of love. And how you regulate your conduct in supplying this service defines loves, quality or quantity.

Therefore love is subdivided into;

· Quality of relating

· Quantity of relating

Quality would include elements such as listed in 1Cor. 13:4-7.

Now we have yet to see the preponderance and the power of the Church for

God is expecting the Church to function and comes to maturity in agape love.

Without love God hands are “tied”. It gives the Lord great pleasure to bless His children. He wants us to be above and not beneath, the head and not the tail but the Lord’s people won’t pay attention.

But these days as the enforcers (God’s Intercessors) come before the throne in agony for their brothers and sisters lives to be changed, we are seeing, here a little and there a little, in the hearts of man. God plan is to work with the heart first and we are seeing the testimony of God’s plan at work.

Before you get millionaire status, before you get things, the Lord will make your heart right; he will reveal the inconsistency of the heart.

God is making sure that the Church that has remained; the remnant of God will “get rich in love”.

There are flood gates that are waiting to be unlocked but the remnant was not prepared.

Circumcision of Heart

The Church needed to confront Ezekiel 36:26, it says,

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh”.

Hosea 10:12

Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.”

(Jer. 4:3 -5 Read)

God is doing a circumcision of the heart and its being done as the people of God prays unceasingly.

As they pray the Lord is changing their heart. You see all this time it had been a heart issue.

And so God would give us the solution, "Get rich on love".
