Getting out of your own way

Updated on February 19, 2012

What do you desire? What do you want to happen in your life that you think is out of reach? Is it really out of your reach or are you standing in your own way? This was an eye opener for me, an aha moment that when I heard about it, it made sense.

An example

I want to write full time. The first thing that springs to mind is, I don’t have enough money to do it. That is the belief that I hold. The reality is, is that there is enough resources in this world to support that dream. My belief that I’ve held on through the years is that I need money to survive. This is true but it is a limiting belief, it is only one belief. Abundance isn’t just money. Money can represent itself as one of the many forms of abundance but it isn’t the only form of abundance. Abundance is an energy, it’s what Bashar calls – doing what you need to do when you need to do it. This was where I was going wrong. I always thought that if you think, visualise and desire money then you will receive it. What I didn’t understand was that this is a limiting belief. There is no creativity; I’ve shut all doors to other ways in which I can create abundance. Money is an energy and yes we need it to get by in this world, but why limit ourselves to thinking it’s the only way?

So what can you do?

Hold your intention

What is my intention – to write full time. After you’ve set your intention you let go of the how it will manifest. What I’ve been doing is I’ve set my intention but I’ve also set up limited ways of how it should and can be done. By doing this I’ve missed opportunities that could’ve have come another way. When we have the right energy for what we want, we let go of the expectation of how it should manifest. When you set up a way in which your intention should manifest, you will find that if it doesn’t happen according to the way you’d planned it, you say it doesn’t work. This has been my brick wall. I’ve set out my intentions and then I’ve taken control of how it should manifest thus not creating what I want, but instead bringing about doubt that it will ever happen. This in turn creates negative energy which takes you away from the path of your intention.

How do we open up to abundance and our desires?

Be a little creative with ideas of how you could reach your desired intention. When you are creative you enjoy the process and let of the how and the outcome you want. Staying in this vibrational energy will open up many different possibilities to you that you had never seen before.

So what’s happening with me at the moment? I am beginning to see what I’ve been doing wrong. I’ve been focusing on the job I don’t like. So my focus and my energy isn’t creating my intention, instead it’s creating a negative energy flow that reflects back to me exactly what I don’t like. Staying in my creative energy vibration without expectation of how it will come will bring me into alignment with my desire to write full time.

So how will I do it?

Right now I don’t know, but I know that I’m doing what I enjoy. I’d doing what brings me joy, what brings me pleasure and that’s all that matters. My outside world will begin to reflect this back. This is where I will stay until an idea or opportunity presents itself to me.

By doing this and being creative you get out of your own way. You stop trying to control the way in which things should manifest. Surprise yourself and see what happens. Be still until you know it’s time to make the move.

I hope that all your dreams will come true and that this post will help you work towards them. If you feel resistance at any point in time, allow it, it is your map to where you want to be. Good luck and God Bless.

I've learnt that we never get anywhere or make any progress unless we stretch ourselves. When a new opportunity comes, it can be easy to draw back to a comfort zone. We must push through that barrier and say "yes" to the opportunity, and sort out the details of how we will accomplish it as and when we need to make specific decisions, actions, or find something out.

      Good positive hub. Voted up.

Thank you Disappearinghead, you state some good points. It can be easy to draw back to a comfort zone and I guess if we keep consiously training ourselves to push through the barrier it will become natural. Thanks for voting up.

lin8t, One of the most important hurdles which needs to be removed in our journey to our dreams is how we get in our own way. You've shown here that especially in creativity setting the intention opens the gate to possibilities.

      Well done.

Thank you stessily, allowing and letting life be is the quickest way to achieve our dreams. I find if I'm trying to hard or trying to control the outcome of things, I don't achieve like I want to. So when I get out of my own way, things start to move better. :-)
