Ghosts are Demons in Disguise

For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun. .... Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. - Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6, 10, KJV

Spirits claiming to be people who have died and now they wander the earth are really demons in disguise. The Bible makes it clear that the dead have no communication with the living after they pass away. But why would demons want to do this? The answer is simple: to mislead people. They give people a false sense of security in salvation.

I witnessed this first hand. I once attempted to witness to an individual about Christ and he told me that accepting Jesus was not necessary because his deceased son had come to him in a dream and had told him that he was now in a better place and everything was going to be alright.

Deceptive Apparitions

The Bible tells us that Satan will use sorcery, which includes communication with spirits of the dead, to deceive people into receiving the mark of the beast (Revelation 18:23). Spirits will be summoned in seances and will appear to others claiming to be Bible prophets and people who have died and gone to Heaven. They will deceive those who have not given their life to Jesus and studied their Bibles to know the truth into accepting a false form of worship—enforced Sunday worship—which will be the mark of the beast.

The deception of appearing as our lost loved ones is a very powerful deception because it works on our emotions. That's why we need to be rooted and grounded in the Bible and be steadfast in prayer, so we are not overtaken by this powerful end time delusion.

Source

The Ultimate Antichrist

The devil will impersonate Jesus and sanction this false form of worship. That's why Jesus warned us to watch out for false Christs in Matthew 24:4, 5. This is the ultimate antichrist. Note that when Jesus returns, He comes to take us back to Heaven with Him. His feet never touch the ground:

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. - 1Thessalonians 4:16-17

Therefore, if Jesus doesn't return to this earth at His second coming, we cannot accept any being claiming to be Christ. This false appearing of Jesus will be Satan's crowning deception, because all of the world's major religions are expecting the return of some form of Messiah; and the devil will be able to deceive them all.

Source

The Stage is Set

Many Christian churches have been primed for this deception. They have accepted the doctrine of the establishment of a millenial kingdom at Jesus' second coming. Satan will exploit this when he appears as Jesus to claim that he has returned to establish his millenial kingdom. A tenet of this kingdom will the Sunday Sabbath, which is really a Pagan day of worship that the devil wants to exalt in order to overthrow the Bible Sabbath, which is Saturday; because in overthrowing the Bible Sabbath, Satan overthrows the authority of God and exalts Himself above God.

All true Sabbath keepers at that time will have to flee into the wilderness for safety. The seven last plagues will fall; and Jesus will shortly return to deliver His saints and bring this sinful world to an end.

I you want to be safe for what's coming ahead, I suggest that you completely surrender your life to Jesus read and study your Bibe daily. The Bible tells us of Demons and how bad and rotten they are. It tells us to stay away from them because they are evil. Satan is supposed to be the leader of those Angels or Demons and his reign is here on Earth or is the Earth. The Bible also says that Jesus cast out demons and there were many of them. We now know what they are today as will be shown in this article. Jesus said that we would do greater things than he. If you believe in him then you must believe in mental health and that we can through knowledge cast out our own demons.

The origin of Deamon / Demon is Greek. The orginal deamons were intelligent, sensible guardian spirits. In the Bible and taught by religions they are now malicious, deviant, horrible creatures here to take your soul.

There are no demons in the Hebrew scriptures - fact. So if they are real, why didn't God tell anyone about them? Why is it they don't appear to have been invented until 2000 years ago?

Judaism (from which Christianity is supposed to take its lead) does not accept the existence of demons or an arch field called satan. In fact the term 'satan' is a hebrew generic term to denote anyone, whether an angel of the lord or human, who opposes man or accuses him before God. Take Numbers 22:22 for example, the Hebrew word used is 'satan'. The Philistines called David a satan because they feared he would oppose them when he lived amongst them.

During the Jewish exile to Babylon and after the Persians conquered, the Jews came under the influence of Zoroastrianism which attributed evil to a hoard of evil spirits under the leadership of Arihiman. Now Isaiah tells us that both good and evil come from God, but this idea was not too palatable to the Jews or Christians today. So the Jews adopted the belief of an evil arch enemy from Zoroaster. Over the centuries the superstitious belief in demons became ever more ingrained in Jewish culture and thus passed on to the Church. Now in the absense of any knowledge of bacterial or viral agents, genetics, mental illness biochemical processes in the brain, any sickness was attributed to demons. Now considering that the OT was the only scripture in existence in Jesus time, anyone who believed in demons had an unbiblical belief.

The Church perpetuated the idea of demons, and invented a whole doctrine about them enhanced by pagan concepts, Dante and Milton.

Simply put, demons don't exist, they are a manmade fabrication.

Satan is mentioned many times in the Old Testament:

Chronicles 21:1 says, “Satan rose up against Israel and incited David to take a census of Israel.” As we saw before it was probably not Satan himself, but one of his demons, that whispered in David’s ear the dangerous idea of taking a census.

The Old Testament writers recognized this fact. Speaking of the sacrifices to ‘other gods,’ Moses wrote:

Lev. 17:7: “They shall no longer sacrifice their sacrifices to the goat demons, with which they play the harlot...” And again:

Deut. 32:16-17: “They made him jealous with their foreign gods and angered him with their detestable idols. They sacrificed to demons, which are not God — gods they had not known, gods that recently appeared, gods your fathers did not fear.”

And concerning the horrendous practice of human sacrifice, the Psalmist says:

Psalms 106:36-38: “They worshipped their idols, which became a snare to them. They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons. They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was desecrated by their blood...”

Also in the book of Job, Satan is featured quite prominently...I don't know what Bible you are reading "Disappearinghead" but you are purposely or out of ignorance ignoring many scriptures that teach of demons and Satan in the Old Testament..these are but a few.

      Brie,

Chronicles 21:1 does indeed use the term 'satan', however this story is also given in 2 Sam 24:1-3 "Again the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and HE incited David against them, saying, “Go and take a census of Israel and Judah.”

So who was it, God or Satan?

2 Samuel was written around 930BC soon after David's reign. 2 Chronicles was written around 430BC, significantly, after Israel had returned from exile where they assimilated to the concept of demons into their superstitions.

Lev 17:7 "and they sacrifice not any more their sacrifices to goats after which they are going a-whoring" using a literal Hebrew to English translation. The term translated as goat Strongs #8163 'hairy, shaggy, male goat, goat idol, kid. You only see demon if you choose to read from a translation that chooses to see demon where none is mentioned.

The term translated as demon in those other two passages is 'Shedim' and it only occurs twice in the Hebrew scriptures. "It was from Chaldea that the name "shedim" = evil demons came to the Israelites, and the writers intentionally applied the word in a dyslogistic (conveying disapproval or censure; not complimentary or eulogistic) to the Canaanite deities 'in the two passages quoted." http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/articles/13523-s...

That is, belief in demons do not fit into Jewish belief and the term shedim was used to contemptuously describe the pagan deities from Chaldea. The Hebrew scriptures do not validate their existence as real entities, it simply acknowledges in two places that the Israelites on occasions worshipped these non-gods. They are no more real than Zeus, Apollo, Thor or Wodin.

In the Book of Job, the satan shows up and has a friendly chat with God and acts totally under his authority. In Judaism the satan is an angel of the Lord that fulfils the task assigned to it by God to frustrate the plans of men and to hold Israel to account before God by accusing Israel of its sins. For example, lets read Numbers 22:22 from a Hebrew bible where your English translation has the sanitised "Angel of the Lord"

      Orthodox Jewish Bible (OJB)

22 But the Af Elohim (G-d’s anger) was kindled as he was going; and the Malach Hashem stood in the derech (road) l’SATAN (for an adversary, opposer) against him. Now he was riding upon his donkey, and his two servants were with him.

See a satan is an angel dispatched by God for a certain task; such as here to oppose Balaam, in Job to carry out God's desire to test Job and in 1 Kings 22:22 to be a lying spirit in the mouths of false prophets.

If you were to read the OT from a Jewish point of view, if you were to study Jewish theology, you would clearly see that there exist no independant demon/evil spirit entities operating outside of God under their own agenda.

Your version of Satan is a Christian invention and cannot be found in the OT except by distortion of scripture. I throw your comment back to you; you are purposely or out of ignorance choosing to read a big bad Satan into the OT that isn't there.

Well, Disappearinghead I can see that no matter what I say your mind is made up, hopefully you will see the truth before it's too late and you spend an eternity with these beings that you don't think exist.

Well, Brie I can see that no matter what I say your mind is made up, hopefully you will seek the truth from the people that wrote the bible rather than your pastor.

Oh and please pray tell how is it that because I don't believe in the existence of demons does it necessarily mean I'll end up in the Christianism version of a pagan mythological hell with them?

    • Brie Hoffman profile image

Brie Hoffman 4 years ago from Manhattan

The difference between me and you ..is if I am wrong (and I am most certainly not) nothing will happen to me, if you are wrong you will spend eternity in hell. It's not a matter of whether you believe in demons or not but whether you have been born again to have a new life with Jesus Christ. Your world view tells me that you are not.

Brie, you clearly have never studied Church history or the history of how its doctrines came about.

Oh for the record I do have a new life in Jesu Christ, but your world view is typical of the Church that brands those that don't agree with your doctrines variously as heretics/deceived by satan/not proper Christians. It is the ignorant attitudes such as yours that led the Church to commit crimes against humanity throughout its history.

I knew someone who claimed to talk to deceased spirits or more exactly people who died and are trying to influence the living through people who are able to hear as well as see them.Just like in the movie -''GHOST" where Whoopi Goldberg plays the medium that deceased spirits constantly try to get her to make their presence known.Kind of like a relative you can't stand who bugs you to do something they want even if you don't feel like it at the time. Then again I'm no expert on the subject.

not all ghosts are demons. The Bible also talks about spirits. Our spirits. Demons are spirits, yes, but we have spirits too. The only difference between a ghost and a demons is that Demons are the 1/3 hosts of heaven, or spirits, that rebelled and lost the privilege to gain a mortal body. When a person dies, their spirits are released from their bodies until the resurrection. A "ghost", as named in society are the spirits of those deceased that don't cross over, or sometimes come back to visit for whatever reason

Wakerra - When the Bible talks about our spirit, it actually refers to the breath of life that God has given us. There are several scriptures to support that. However, the Bible never describes our spirit as some kind of entity, with its own consciousness, that roams the earth after death. Blessings.

I won't go too far into detail of demonic possession or other insane things I've witnessed in my travels around the world but I really enjoyed your hub X-con. There's a lot of truth in what is here. As I always say, eat the chicken, spit the bones out. Jesus is king and I'm very thankful to know him daily! God bless, I'm voting up and sharing!

Angels were messengers of God and didn't have the power rto make decisions as to weather they would be on God's side or the side of Satan. The word demon was twisted into what Religions call today as evil----they were not evil beings in the first translations of the Bible. Fear mongering is what you are doing here!
