Giving access to the Enemy

Updated on October 23, 2010

Access by the Word

As people of God we have to be always watchful because it’s the enemy’s job to get us into sin, and by the use of condemnation, gain a foothold in our lives from which point he is able to carry on his work of devastation.

We have all arrived at the place called, "some time" in our lives where we have overheard ourselves saying, “If only”,

  • If only I had prayed this morning
  • If only I had listen to the Holy Spirit then I would not have had this trauma
  • If only I had not given an incorrect statement …
  • If only I had kept my eyes from looking at another woman...
  • If only I had spent more time with my kids

In fact, it's almost as if I can hear Cain, the first begotten of Adam, saying, If only I had listen to the Lord when He said, “If thou doest well, shall thou not be accepted?

How many of us have consistently fallen short and allowed sin that lies at the door to gain ascendancy in our lives, only to have to return to the Lord, in search of repentance and thanking God for his mercy that while we played the prodigal, we were not totally consumed.

Have you ever considered what the Gadarene demoniac had done to warrant such a possession of demonic enclaves? Could it be that there was some disobedience in his life which led to oppression, depression and then total demonic possession?

But thanks be unto God that He has given us an escape, that at the name of Jesus every knee must bow, of things in heaven and earth. The enemy does not want you to entertain the thought that regardless of the charge laid against you that there is forgiveness because of the blood of Jesus.

Paul said in Colossians 2:15, “having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it”.

The Lord Jesus took away the power of the enemy to condemn you. In other words, the enemy hasn’t got the keys to the jail unless you give it to him and since he has no right to the keys he has no right to condemn you.

In other words (Romans 8:1), “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit”.

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of the Lord’. 2Cor.7:1.

In fact, right now I want you to declare to whatever enemy is hindering you, that “My life is covered under the blood of Jesus! Now if you could see in the spirit you would see that "turkey" just got up and made his way out of your presence.

Access by devious words

Elijah the prophet operated under tremendous power as is seen in 1Kings 17-19, but at hearing the message of the threat of Jezebel upon his life, he became intimidated which brought

a. confusion

b. discouragement/disappointment

c. frustration

This caused this mighty man of God to run at the fear of loosing his life, as we see in 1Kgs.19:3-4.

For the message that he had received from Jezebel had over powered and arrested his attention to the extent that he had become like a trapped prey awaiting the decision of the hunter, the accuser and the adversary.

What was the message?

So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time”.

The message was concise, it was to the point. Now those words sent to Elijah were effective so much so that the prophet became distracted and forgot the powerful anointing that rested on his life. How much more will Satan be distracted and placed in turmoil when a spirit filled believer filled with faith and confidence decree and declare an end to Satan's wiles.

The scripture says in 1 Peter 5:8 (KJV) concerning the attitude of the saints, it says,

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Sober comes from the Greek word nepho, pronounced nay’-fo and means to abstain from wine.

The accuser intent is have you intoxicated with his “wine” so he can gain the advantage for he knows that in Christ we always have the upper hand. But if he can just feed you with his wine of distortion that takes you out of your element and into the element of doubt. For he knows that he cannot handle the blood of Jesus but if he can feed you with enough “wine” then you will begin to walk out from beneath the covering of the blood then you will become like Elijah.

  • We get snatched when we walk out from our covering.
  • We get snatched when the enemy deceives us into drinking his wine of unbelief.
  • We get snatched when we don’t act discreetly.
  • We get snatched when we depend on the strength of our own personality

Have you ever watched a drunk try to act discreet?

He cannot do it because he is a drunk and that’s not his nature to be discreet.

Paul tells us in Eph 5:17-19 (KJV),

17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Elijah had lost his focus concerning the will of the Lord because of the word to which he had been listening.

We know that he was confused or bewildered because in 1Kgs.19:9, God asked Elijah, “What are you doing here? Elijah had made a leap from listening to the voice of the spirit to that of his own. He was in a place of emotional distress. In other words, he had allowed the enemy entrance into his soul.

(In Matt.25:14-30, at vs. 25 the servant said, speaking to his lord (God), ‘I was afraid that you would rob me of what I earned’ TLB.)

Example of the Devils Plans Exposed

The Lord will expose the plans of the enemy to gain access into your life by giving His people dream and visions so that they would be able to see the ploys of the enemy and defeat them.

For instance there was a minister to whom God had given a dream. In this dream there were dogs surrounding this person; ferocious dogs. Notice that they were not Hyenas but dogs. Dogs reside in the homes and are supposed to be man’s best friend. But there are certain dogs that no matter what you do to be friendly they still want to be unfriendly.

So these dogs gather themselves within attack distance, suddenly there appeared the shield of the Lord between the minister and the dogs. As the dogs seems to evade the shield, the shield began to widen to give this minister total protection.

The minister awakens from this dream in wonderment being concerned as to what this meant. However, the Holy Spirit told this minister not to worry and ushered this minister back to sleep.

Unknown to this minister there was subtle rivalry in the minister’s assembly, particularly among the other ministers. They would smile in the minister’s face but were really hoping that this minister would be weakened so they could take control of the ministers ordained authority.

They had not really accepted this minister and had become disgruntled and the spirit of the dog; that would bite the hand that fed it, had gained entrance into there temple.

What could be done to such a spirit?

a) Declare that this minister is God’s chosen vessel

b) Plead the blood of Jesus over all that belongs to this minister.

c) Declare that the Spirit of God has lifted this minister head far above them that has malicious intent.

d) Declare that every spirit of the dog is bound and loosed from this minister’s assigned jurisdiction.

e) Pray that the Holy Spirit would reveal to this minister the hand of those that have risen up.

f) Declare that the lord, the God of Israel will execute vindication.

g) Command that the oppressor and his weapon will drown in his own red sea.

h) Declare that every weapon targeted against this minister’s peace will be destroyed.

i) Declare that the Lord of Host will rise and break the cheek bone of them that attack this minister.
