Finding Peace

Updated on September 10, 2011

The key to finding peace in our everyday lives

Believe it or not, you can have peace every day. Philippians 4:4 - 9 gives us clear instructions how to find peace no matter what we're going through, and a promise that God will give us peace. I would quote the selected scripture for this devotional, however, that is looked at as copied content here on hubpages, so I would suggest using if you don't have a bible handy. The first part of this can seem impossible to follow when you’re in the midst of a troublesome situation, or you’re going through depression, but if we take a look at verse 8 we see the key to finding peace. Verse 8 tells us to think about things that are "worthy of praise", things that are "excellent, admirable, lovely, pure, right, noble and true"; this means in the midst of trouble, heartache depression, loneliness, or everyday frustrations we should focus on the things that are good in our lives, if nothing else focus on praising God that our situation isn't any worse than it is, or focus on treating others in a way that is "right, pure and lovely". If we do this we are promised that the "God of peace" will give us peace beyond our understanding.

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, My God, I come to you in need of peace. Please bless me with peace that surpasses my understanding, and use me to bring peace to those around me; I ask this all in the name of Jesus Christ my savior, Amen.

Great reminder! Peace is not dependent on our circumstances but on the choices we make to claim it from the Prince of Peace himself.
