Proclaiming the message of the kingdom
Who is my Neighbour
As we look at Luke 10 in the King James Bible, the chapter started as Jesus commissioned 70 (Tyndale 72) disciples and sent them 2x2 or 35 teams into the cities ahead of him. Jesus had taken them through months of preparation and it was time for a “trial run” to bolster their confidence.
In other words, they would be His forerunners sent out into the harvest that would proclaim the message of the kingdom confirming with signs of healing and deliverance in the name of Jesus (verse 17).
As we go into the harvest we should ask the Father for the help of laborers or the assistance of angels (sent ones) to assist us and that the word may have free course to bring glory to God.
Jesus had trained a group of 35 teams specifically to send out for that work of harvesting.
So we have included in the harvest;
- The trained harvesters
- The ones in need of harvesting; needing healing & deliverance, etc.
- The (angelic) assistance from God
- The opposition to the expansion of the Kingdom – the satanic host
Jesus gave them instructions as to how they should conduct themselves and the strategy for the defeat of the enemy.
Jesus told them that some would reject the message of the Kingdom, that they would have no desire to accept the advantages of the new revelation. But the loss was theirs, besides, new wine could not be placed inside old wine skins.
He told the apostles, the delegated authorities of the kingdom, that they should not to be disheartened in case of rejection but move on to the next town or house.
Six Reasons 2 are Better than One
I. To help each other in test, loneliness and discouragement (Rom. 15:14)
II. To be a support to the fallen or be in balance in success (Eccl. 4:9-10; Gal. 6:1)
III. To strengthen in weakness when burdened (Rom. 15:1-5)
IV. To agree in prayer (Matt. 18:19)
V. To protect in case of attack (Dt. 32:30)
VI. To be a witness or to confirm the word of God (Deuteronomy 17:6; Matt. 18:16)
Return of the Seventy
Luke 10:17 “And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.”
Jesus shared the disciple’s joy as He gave witness to the power of Satan that had become the resident evil but had been displaced by the power and authority of God within the regions and territories through which He that had sent His disciples. (Daniel 7:22, 27) Jesus told his disciples that He was watching as Satan fell from heaven as lightening. Every believer should be desirous of such a testimony that the power of the enemy has been broken and displaced from their lives and the lives of the people whom God has called them to intercede by the power and the authority of the living God.
Today, as the Believers take their authority in Christ, the stage is being finalized as the body of a man child who is to rule all nations with a rod of iron nears completion.
God is showing Himself strong on behalf of those who love Him as they are being quickened by the Holy Spirit as He reveals Himself more plainly in words of wisdom, knowledge and revelation.
As we begin to move in the gifts of the Spirit and share with God’s people what has been revealed, there will be an inevitable impact on our livesand in the lives of our neighbors. For now the Holy Spirit is working in us to show Himself strong on behalf of those who call upon the name of Jesus. Because of this work, we are witnessing healing and the miraculous manifestations of the Spirit released by faith accessing the throne room of God.
People have always responded to a move of God as they responded to Jesus as he walk preaching and teaching. As we have seen, Jesus, after the inception of his ministry, never had to search for an audience for he was led by the Holy Spirit. His presence employed attention for he was the power of God. In other words, when the power of God appears, darkness has to flee and the light of God then has free access as the gospel is preached to save the sin sick soul, to heal, deliver and to bring reconciliation to man.
Jesus is still watching and sharing our joyas we aggressively and boldly speak to the enemy and command him to return that which he has stolen from the believers. But this should not be limited to a few intercessors, but people of faith all over the world must be willing to speak to the principalities, powers and wicked spirits and command them to cease their maneuvers against the saints of God. The saints must repossess what these evil ones have taken and rearrange what these satanic spirits have maligned.
Jesus declared that the harvest is ripe and so we must make the same declaration, we must increase our harvesting so that the body of the man childwill have ruler ship over all nations with a rod of iron.
God wants his message preached to every soul, that the kingdom of this earth shall become the Kingdoms of our God to whom He has given His man child a command to take them.
He has also told his “man child” that every member has to do his part for God, for there is a people and place waiting for their manifestation. The scripture says that creation groaneth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
I believe God is saying, if you want to eat then you must work.
In other words, in this season you must be a benefit to the body. For too long you have been a benefit to yourself, you have held up the responsibilities of your employers splendidly, but God says, you have placed Me on the back burner, for I have watched you, sometimes cold and sometimes lukewarm, but in this season you shall do that thing for which I have called you.
This year is a year of turning to God and not just for the hope of having earthly rewards. But for you that have been lacking the character of your Father, having an exuberance of silliness, for the recalcitrant, lackadaisical, the prayer-less one, the one who has been waiting to step it up, well God had you in mind when this year was conceived.
In the same chapter we see a certain Lawyer standing among the people and ask a question with the intent - to tempt the Lord Jesus.
This certain man considered himself to be a master of the law and as a master of the law he is what you would term in the New Testament to be a super-Christian. But now we see him trying to bewilder the Son of God;
- To have the Lord say something out of character
- To test the atmosphere (spirit) of the kingdom, to which Jesus gave evidence
- To try to “locate” Jesus
Psalms 119:95 (KJV)
95 The wicked have waited for me to destroy me: but I will consider thy testimonies.
Of Jesus Psalms 119:97-104
(Read if time permits.)
The lawyer’s question was, “Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
As studious as he purported to be it was akin to him saying, “What shall I do when I approach a red light, do I continue on into traffic or do I stop?
And Jesus returned, “What is written in the law?
And to this he answered, “Thou shall love … heart, soul, strength, mind, and thy neighbor as thyself”.
The lawmaker had been stumped and asked to save face,” Who is my neighbor or who is it that I should love?
A, the Parable of the good Samaritan
The Master/ Teacher, answered in a parable with chosen (selected) words. He realized that His answer would;
- serve as seed for generations
- The answer would come forth as a plentiful harvest as a result of the seed sown
You see the farmer might plow the land, plant the corn, but he needs the grace of God that will cause the corn to grow. He needs God’s credit to allow growth. That’s why after the crop is harvested and the gains distributed, your tithe should be first on the list of your “creditors” because it is God who grace the soil to bring forth an increase.
In verse 30, Jesus begins the parable by using a certain man, not just any man but a certain man.
Went down from Jerusalem: - city of peace, walled, fortified, comfort, community support, family support
He was on the way to Jericho.
While you are on the “way” you will encounter tribulation, Persecution, trials againstyou and the God in you because Satan wants you to deny Christ
Job’s wife said, “Curse God and die”.
Some times you feel as if God is not doing anything for you. Where is God when it hurts?
The text implies that this man was a child of Abraham and kept the promises, yet he had to endure the violence of thieves. (Matthew 10:10)
a) He was stripped (Numbers 20:28, 1Sam.31:9, Job 19:9, Matt.27:28)
c) Almost left for dead
Today, you may have turned to this internet page and you are saying, “Preacher, you talking about me. You may;
a. feel forsaken for you have been physically sick, (Psalm 9:10, 37:25, Isaiah 54:7)
b. You feel like you are loosing your mind because of the medications that you are forced to take, besides the physical pain which you are enduring. But my grandmother use to say, “As long as there is life, feather will grow! That means, it isn’t over until God says so and my brother or my sister, you have been set-up for a blessing.
Listen, you may have tried other relieffor your ailment, in your desperation; you may have even gone to an “obeah man”, the witch doctor but nothing change.
You are wounded in your mind, soul, heart and body; stripped of your prestige, your reputation, even your self-worth, but today I am telling you to hold on, victory is at your door, for the Lord has come with deliverance. Hold up your hands and say, “I receive my deliverance Lord, and I speak deliverance into my dwelling place”.
Look at these scriptures as a witness and they will bring you confidence;
Psalms 34:19 (KJV)
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
Psalms 41:3 (KJV)
3 The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.
This traveler’s strength may have been failing fast and all that he could was the image of death standing in like a vulture waiting for consummation.
The Bible implies:
- The Priest doesn’t want to have anything to do with you – the bishop doesn’t have the answer so rather than face the challenge, he evades it.
- The Levite thinks it’s hopeless to even speak to you anymore because he believes his duty is firstly to the temple that was made by man; but man was made by the living God. Imagine, even angels are sent to minister to those who are heirs of salvation but man will be dutiful to the temple rather than God’s creation and so the creation continues to groan.
- But, the good “Samaritan”, the Son of the Living God, says to you, “Live again!
3He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. Psalms 147:3 (KJV)
The Good Samaritan (Jesus) gave oil and wine for his wounds and took him to the Inn.
He released him into the care of the Inn keeper, which symbolized the Holy Ghost. He supplied the necessary expense and told him should in case the cost exceeded what he had already paid, when he returned, he would repay.
If you are a child of God then God has placed within your body a live-in payee, called the Holy Ghost.
This day, I pray that the Lord shall bless you above all your expectations. I pray that you will honor Him as He takes you from confusion into clarity of mind so that the plans for you future will be revealed.
I pray that the Spirit of the Lord will raise you up above your enemies and prosper you exceedingly.
These scriptures will help to secure your confidence, your endurance and your prosperity.
Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Heb 12:13 (KJV)
Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;13 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.
For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after.
1 Thess 5:23 (KJV)
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
