God's More Interested In Your Relationships and Life Than You Are

God's More Interested In Your Relationships And Life Than You Are

I awoke this morning for some reason, and started talking with God. Then I began to pray. Sometimes when I pray, I reach an epiphany or a great realization for things to write about. This post is to let you all know that God is more interested in your relationships and life than you are.

I first heard this quote from Billy Graham, but I believe he used the world future instead of life. At first, I could not believe it. There was no way God was more interested in my love life with my ex! He couldn’t possibly care. And He definitely couldn’t care more about my abscess tooth than I. And there’s no way He cared about my neat-freak quirks. But then I started to believe it.

Many people make the mistake of thinking that just because God is the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe that He’s too busy to worry about the details. We think that when you have a sun to suspend in the middle of the Milky Way galaxy, and a war to control, He could care less about my common cold or my missing cell phone.

But I’m here to tell you that HE CARES! He cares more than you do! You’d think it’d be easy to bore God. He’s in a heaven of paradise with jewel walls and pearl gates. He has people praying for healing from AIDS and malaria. He’s got global warming and polar bears to think about. But you’re wrong about Him being bored about you! I talk to God all the time about my uneventful life, and He cares!

Here’s the proof. Look at a blade of grass. Now look at a cartoon or a CG depiction of grass. Who seems more interested in the details? On The Simpsons, you’ll see a flat rubber or a zig-zig topped layer of green. It’s monochromatic, and it’s plain. GOD on the other hand, has made individual blades of grass! Okay, big whoopee. Let’s get deeper. Look at a blade of grass. Even the color changes throughout the blade. There is photosynthesis occurring. The grass grows! The grass changes to light yellow when it turns winter! God CARES ABOUT THE DETAILS!

When I was having a series of fill-ins and root canals done last year, I would pray to God because of the agony that comes (especially from an abscess tooth!) But when I would flip through the channels and see people emaciated and ravaged from devastating diseases such as breast cancer and AIDS, I felt almost silly and weak and selfish thinking about praying for a fill-in. I’ve heard of cases of God giving people fill-ins (sometimes with 24K gold!). But I thought my prayer was too silly and simple to bother God with. After all, He had people to heal and save!

But I now know that God cares more about what I care about than I care about it! When I’m trying to decide which side to part my hair on, God cares! When I am dusting the dandruff off my shoulders, God cares! When I’m deciding on whether or not to wear the red turtleneck or the blue sweater, God cares!

I think that one big problem Americans suffer from is thinking that we are boring and uninteresting. We think that we have to perform to make people like us. When we’re on a first date, we dare not mention how we had a hard time deciding which nail polish color to wear that night. We’d think the dude would think we’re lame and uninteresting. But God cares! I talk to God about everything. I even talk to Him about my sins I have a hard time discarding. I talk to Him about me being jealous of my friend. I talk to Him about my doubts about certain churches. I talk to Him about which post to write next. And guess what? He never gets bored!

He won’t tune you out like some of your parents did. He won’t yawn when you talk to him like your boyfriend or girlfriend might do. He loves talking and being with you. God is a perfect being; He can’t have flaws. The only thing about Him that people might consider a flaw would be that He is a jealous God. Don’t confuse jealousy with envy and covet. Envy is being mad at somebody because they are fortunate to have something that you really want.  To covet something means to really want something that you don’t have even if it’s best you don’t have it and it’s rightfully someone else’s. But jealousy means you feel that something that is rightfully yours might be going to someone or something else. Well, God is a jealous God, and He doesn’t like that you are going to other things other than Him. But back to Him being a perfect being. He doesn’t have the personality flaw of getting bored. Do you really think people get bored in heaven? Boredom doesn’t exist in God’s world. He has a great attention span. He doesn’t have ADHD or ADD. He cares. He’s concerned. He’s a great listener.

I don’t have to rush through my words or think of great stories to impress God with. If the only thing I have to talk about today will be my split ends, He’s there looking right with me! He’s omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent. That means he’s knows everything, he’s ubiquitous (everywhere simultaneously), and he’s all-powerful. The bible says that the VERY HAIRS OF OUR HEAD ARE NUMBERED! And that's another thing. If God didn't care about details, we'd have hair like the Simpson's. But God cared enough to make strands - and lots of them!

Another thing that proves to me God cares about the details is if you look at our bodies. When a mortician cuts you open, your body is not all flesh like a Barbie doll or stuffing like a Build-a-Bear. There are very detailed organs in you. The Bible says you are fearfully and wonderfully made! You have systems (ex. integumentary, lymphatic, nervous, circulatory, digestive, respiratory). Then we break down the systems and give you the tissues (epithelial, connective, muscle, nervous). Let me break it down a little more to the cells. We got kidney glomerulus parietal cells, exocrine gland striated duct cells, blood vessel and lymphatic vascular endothelial splenic cells just to name a few. But I ain’t done yet!

Let’s break down the cell to the mitochondria, the nucleus, the endoplasmic reticulum. Still not done. The nucleus has DNA in there! Not done yet. Break down the deoxyribonucleic acid to get the nucleotides. DNA is usually not just a single molecule (two or more atoms), but it is a tightly associated pair of molecules. Still not enough?

These atoms are phosphorus and carbon. Break down a carbon atom (and any atom for that matter) and you have even more smaller pieces. The name atom comes from the Greek ἄτομος/átomos, α-τεμνω, which means uncuttable, something that cannot be divided further. Well guess what? They were WRONG! It can be broken down further into subatomic particles. I got this from Wikipedia.

Subatomic particles include the atomic constituents electrons, protons, and neutrons. Protons and neutrons are composite particles, consisting of quarks. A proton contains two up quarks and one down quark, while a neutron consists of one up quark and two down quarks; the quarks are held together in the nucleus by gluons. There are six different types of quark in all ('up', 'down', 'bottom', 'top', 'strange', and 'charm'), as well as other particles including photons and neutrinos which are produced copiously in the sun. Most of the particles that have been discovered are encountered in cosmic rays interacting with matter and are produced by scattering processes in particle accelerators. There are dozens of known subatomic particles.

And if you break down those gluons and quarks you might just have energy. God made this energy! Who said all this occurred because a big bang? It was a bang alright. It was God saying, “Let there be light! Let there be plants! Let there be animals! Let there be sea!” so forth and so on.

Let me tell you this. GOD LOVES YOU DOWN TO YOUR GLUONS AND QUARKS! He loves your entire being, to your body systems, to your tissues, to your cells, to your nucleus, to your DNA, to your molecules, to your atoms, to your protons, electrons, and neutrons, all the way down to your quarks and gluons! YOU ARE LOVED!

But I digress. I was trying to tell you how much you can’t bore God. How much God is more interested in your relationships and life and future than you are. If He put so much effort into a blade of grass and into your epithelial tissue, I know He cares about that B- that you thought should have been an A+. I know He cares about that guy you’re thinking of dating. I know He cares about all of your problems.

When it comes to God being interested in your life (whether a shocker or uneventful), I think I proved my point. J

Thanks for posting...i needed to read that. Some nagging unresolved issues in my life, and sometimes you wonder if its too mundane for God?
