God's Timing

God's Plan Carried Out

I like to joke when faced with those earthly decisions we like to say we’re “praying about”. Do I go the party, don’t I? Do I do “this” this weekend, or “that”. I’ve often said if God would only spell it out for me - exactly what He wants me to do - I would gladly do it! Sometimes His desire is a broader one. He’s looking at the whole picture. And what seems to be a complex plan in our mind can really be so simple in His.

Sometimes if I have to run an errand I know the kids don’t want to do, I won’t say anything to them ahead of time. They figure it out when we pull up there. Then the disappointment, the grumbling, is kept to a minimum. This also increases my odds of arriving without getting in an accident from all the fuss and commotion going on in the back seat. They have less time to think and complain about it, and it is over quickly for them. Least amount of pain and discomfort! Kids!

I think sometimes God is like that. He kind of sneaks up on you. He doesn’t tell you where you’re going. You figure it out when you pull up out front. And at that point you just do it and get it over with before you know what happened. He gets the errand done with the least amount of pain and discomfort. Cause what parent doesn’t want that for their kids? Besides, God doesn’t want to listen to me sit in the back seat and grumble all the way there. After all, it distracts His driving too.

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me – the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.
