The Sweetest Five Little Red Words ...

"Jesus told him, 'Don’t be afraid; just believe.'” ---Mark 5:36

Change of Seasons

Early one morning, I awoke to a room filled with brilliant sunlight. Startled, thinking I had over slept. However, when I looked at the digital alarm clock with its bright red numbers, it was only 5:36 a.m. Relieved that I had not over slept, I continued my day as usual.

The very next morning, the same thing happened. I awoke, startled thinking, once again, I had over slept because my room was filled with brilliant sunlight. When I looked at the clock, it was 5:36 a.m. This went on for three weeks! I woke up at precisely 5:36 a.m. every day for three weeks.

After the first three days, I realized that I had not over slept, but the sun was rising earlier due to the change of seasons. Little did I know, it was truly going to be a change of seasons for me in my life. However, when I did get around to looking at the clock, it was always 5:36 a.m.

In the back of my mind, I kept thinking that was strange. It was not until I said it out loud to my husband that I thought it was strange for the past three weeks, I had been waking up at precisely 5:36 a.m. Finally, at that very moment, I thought, maybe the Lord was trying to tell me something.

So, that morning, during my morning time alone with the Lord, I asked Him to reveal to me what it was, if anything, He wanted to tell me. If, indeed, was it that He wanted to reveal something from His Word, as there are a lot of 5:36 verses in His Word. So He would just have to show me. I sat down and opened my well-worn Women's Devotional (NIV) Bible, with the pages falling apart, and it opened to the Gospel of Mark and I saw verse 5:36. My eyes blinked back tears, as I saw the sweetest five little words in red of Jesus, right there, jumping off the page at me. "Don't be afraid; just believe." I thought how precious of the Lord to tell me such sweet words.

I did not realize at the time that He was preparing me for the one of the biggest trials of my life. Throughout that whole trial, I always remembered His sweet words to me to not be afraid; just believe. I did just that. I was never afraid and always believed that He was working all things out for good, as He promises in His word. He did just as He promises. Praise Him! To God be the glory!

The great trial was concerning my son who was suffering with the terrible disease of addiction as a teenager, and I was never afraid. His promises are true, as He has worked all things out for good.

Through much prayer, spiritual warfare and God's mercy and grace, my son has been sober for over six years now (2013), prior to his three children being born. To God be the glory! Praise Him for He is so faithful.

      Hello Faith Reaper,

This is the first time I have read one of your articles....I have seen your comments at other people's hubs, and so today, I decided to read one of yours. I really loved reading about how the Lord woke you up at 5:36 every morning for 3 wks....and as I read that, I thought, the Lord was doing this!....Well, then you said you opened your bible and it fell open to Mark 5:36 - "Don't be afraid, just believe".....Wow, the Lord is amazing!....He prepared you for what was coming....and, I am so sorry for what you had to go through.

Thank you so much for sharing! As of now, I am going to follow your hubs.....and, please stop by and read some of mine if you'd like!

Oceansider (Helen), thank you so much for reading and leaving wonderful comments. Yes, I am glad I finally realized that the Lord was wanting to tell me something and that He did not give up, as I will always remember that scripture. He is sweet like that, you know!!! God bless you. I have to get back to hubbing, as I was been away after surgery and then recently they found large blood clots in both of my lungs. So, being I am still here, I know He has plans for me, and I have plenty more "boasting in the Lord" stories to tell. I may not have a tomorrow (just as the rest of us), so I need to get busy glorifying Him again. In His Love, Faith Reaper

      Dearest Michael,

Thank you for leaving such refreshingly honest and kind comments. Oh, I am so very sorry to know of your disease of addiction, which I do know of as it sadly seems to run in my family and, of course, one must pray and look up for He is truly the only one who can heal you from such a terrible disease, as it is a disease. My dad suffered with it, but never really got the help he needed. Thankfully my son got the help at a very early age, even before his children were born at the age of 19. Praise God!

I went to bed early last night, so I missed your newly published one. And please know I am praying for you each day now for you that the Lord God give you strength to not be tempted to give in. It is such a tricky and sly disease.

God bless you. Hugs, Faith Reaper

God bless you dearest Michael. Remember that, from what I have learned from those suffering from whatever kind of addiction, it is just a one-day-at-a-time thing to get through this present day and not think about the future, as He tells us in His word that this day holds enough trouble without worrying about the future, which causes anxiety and the past is gone forever, and when we tend to dwell on it, causes depression.

Please be mindful to keep your thoughts on Him and looking up and praise Him the minute your eyes open each morning, and He will give you strength to fight off any demons that may be coming at you, attacking your mind. The mind is the main battlefield for such, believe me. Maybe listening to and reading some of the testimonies on my latest will help you, just a thought? He tells us in His word to think on those things that are lovely, praiseworthy excellent, true and of good report. And in doing so, one will be kept in perfect peace, His peace, the peace that surpasses all understanding.

      Hugs and love, Faith Reaper

      Hi Dearest Sister Skye,

It is always a blessing when you light up my hub space with your beautiful spirit and love.

Well, I have received a double blessing this day, for both comments are showing here precious heart. I figured out that when that happens to me, the comment is really there. I just go back out to my profile page and then under activity, it will show I made a comment, and sure enough it will be there. I used to go back and type another comment too, until I realized once you click post, it has posted but for some reason at the moment, it looks like it has not and went away. Now, each time that happens, I go back and there it is.

I have been under the weather just a bit this day with a terrible deep cough, sore throat, chills and splitting head ... but just now feel like eating something and catching up a bit. So, I am late in commenting back to you here. Slept the entire day until 8:50 p.m., so I hope I am recovered : )

Thank you so much for your generous comments as always. Yes, the Lord God is faithful to hear, heal and work miracles in lives, and whenever He does, I love to tell of His mighty works!

I love you too sweetest daughter of the King,

      Faith Reaper

Hi Faith Good day, i can only imagine how glad it must have made your heart as a mother that you have regained the soberness of your son.

To God be the glory for the great things He has done. Just let me live my life let it be pleasing Lord to thee, and should i gain any praise let it go to Calvary.

Lovely scripture i'll keep it in mind :)

      Hi Cynthia!

Well, I am so happy you are here now. I haven't been here much myself due to just regular life.

Oh, I am so glad you were guided to read here this day and found some bit of encouragement. We all need encouragement in this sometimes brutal life, and I know God is always there for me when I remember to look up or cry out to Him. He is sweet like that, you know.

Thank you for your kind comments as to my family.

May God bless you too, sweet lady
