Growth through Reincarnation

Updated on May 1, 2017

Reincarnation - Makes sense to me

We all live in a world of relativity, a world of variety, and constant change. It has been referred to as the 'Realm of Relativity,' or the 'Contextual Field,' a spectrum or range. This means that without hot we cannot know cold, no down, we cannot know up, no big, we cannot know small, no complexity, we cannot know the simple. In a subtler aspect we have differences in human beings, the physically strong and the weak, the intellectual genius and the dullard. We also have, I believe, the 'old (or 'older') and the young (or 'younger) SOULS - for I believe - or at least hold an open mind on it - in the Reincarnation of human souls, the evolutionary progression through lifetimes. The way I see it, we all need a Philosophy of Life we can believe in; one that makes sense on all three levels: physically, intellectually and spiritually, and Reincarnation ticks all three boxes for me.

Yours truly, looking at his reflection in a mirror back in 1977

The older teach the younger

But to change the subject ever so slightly. We know that in Nature, parents teach the young. At least, that is the case among a good many of the animal and bird species. It is inherent and in their genes that the adults teach their offspring. The older teach the younger.

The Realm of Relativity also applies to knowledge and wisdom

I think it is the same with souls. We know that parents teach their children. But in humans it goes further than this. The 'learned' teach those who they feel know less than they. Conversely, the learned realize that there are others who know more than they do, and they look for teachers who can teach them what they do not yet know. And so it goes on, right up and down the line. The Realm of Relativity, or the Contextual Field, applies to knowledge and wisdom as it does to anything else in Nature. We nearly all of us want to teach AND to learn. We want and need both. Fortunately, there are always those who seemingly know less, and those who seeming know more than we do. This gives meaning. We can both learn and teach. And this makes for satisfaction.

The step above Self-actualization is Self-realization

Nowadays, many us are also aware that "We teach what we want to learn." Moreover, many of us have this desire in us for Lifelong Learning. We want to know 'What's it's all about, Alfie?' so we keep on with our 'Search for Meaning.' It seems to be an inherent trait once a human has reached a certain level of spiritual development. A level of Abraham Maslow's Pyramid of Needs jumps right off the top of Self-actualization to SELF-REALIZATION.

Not until a certain level of advancement is made to people seek INSIDE. The road to self-realization thus begins

Now, I say, 'a certain level of spiritual development.' A vast number of people have not yet evolved to this state. They certainly don't see themselves as spiritual beings. To such, the world outside of themselves is ALL THAT IS. Inside, is this strange thing called thinking, which perpetually spouts words, ideas, and reactions to what's going on 'outside.' At this stage, few look 'inside.' And even those that do begin, begin by observing or by reading about the behaviour of others, hoping that by this method they will attain what they are seeking. They interpret this as gaining knowledge. And that's what it is: knowledge. It isn't experience.

Deep down, we all want the same things

Nevertheless, what they are seeking is, generally, what ALL of us are seeking: a meaningful life, happiness, self-esteem, security, freedom from fear, fulfilment. But the seeking is - up to a very significant moment in our lives - a seeking for information and knowledge with its hoped for attendant wisdom. We expect it to come to us from sources OUTSIDE of ourselves. We look to master teachers.

The approach of greater light as we near the shore

I've lived hundreds of lives. Possibly you have as well

I can recall that somewhere in Neale Donald Walsh's series of Conversations with God books, Neale asks God how many lives he has lived as a human being. He is told the exact number. I cannot recall what that number was now but recall it to be 460 plus. So even after all those lives, Neale was still very much subject to the foibles and weaknesses that most of us are subject to.

My development in Automatic Writing ability was gradual

When I did the same with my own spiritual guidance some years back, I got a somewhat similar number - though around 30 to 40 lives less than Neale. Still, well over 400 lives. Both of us, incidentally, received our answers via Automatic Writing. Both of us have this ability, though Neale's introduction was instantaneous, whilst I developed over decades, starting as far back as late 1968.

And the lighter it gets as we draw nearer to our destination

There are Physical, Psychological and Spiritual Laws

Now, you may not believe in any of this. However, if you do - or are inclined to keep an open mind on it - then from what both Neale and I have received via Automatic Writing, supports the teachings of those religions which believe in the Reincarnation of Human Souls.

I came across the website: One Mind - One Energy. Fascinating stuff! There, I was drawn to a button which, when selected, laid out TWENTY (20) UNIVERSAL LAWS. The second law of which I have 'cut and pasted' below. I think you'll find it interesting.

The Second of Twenty Spiritual Laws

The 2nd out of the 20 universal laws:
2.The Law of Reincarnation and Karma
Until you have resolved your Karma and fulfilled your Dharma, which are the deeds you must do, you will continue to reincarnate into sequential lifetime upon the earth. Neither God nor the Lords of Karma bestow suffering upon you during these lives, you and you alone decide what you most need to learn and in your earthly sojourns, and for each life experience you seek out other souls, often with shared histories, and always with Karmic configurations matching your needs. Whenever you act with intention you create Karma. Actions are considered to be thoughts, emotions, words and deeds, and the motive, desire and intent behind each. Disharmonious acts must be balanced in the future in this life or in a future lifetime, to have Soul growth.

So many of us have never come across such an insightful message

As most of us have never come across a message like this - or have chosen not to believe it if we have - is it any wonder that it takes us hundreds of lifetimes to get to a stage where we've had enough of the 'suffering' - as Gautama the Buddha put it - and now want to 'come home.' And by 'come home' I mean return to the pure spirit that we all are.

There is no such thing as an accident. Serendipity is Universal Law operating below our level of consciousness

Way back in 1986, when I undertook my first ten-day Vipassana Course, towards the course's end our teacher, the late Mr. S.N Goenka, stated "When the student resolves to find out the truth of WHAT IS, the Whole Universe conspires to help him." Thirty-one years later I am realizing that truth more and more. It is a matter of "following the prompts," as my Spiritual guidance continues to advise me. There is no such thing as an accident. Serendipity is Universal Law acting below our level of consciousness. Our thoughts bring into our lives that which we think about most. That, too, is a universal law. (Check out Dr. Roberto Assagioli's book, The Act of Will, if you want further information)

Anchored offshore and getting ready to disembark

When the student is ready, the master will appear. That 'Master' can come in any number of forms

It is said, "When the student is ready, the master will appear." That 'Master' can come in all manner of forms. It probably won't be an elderly gentleman with flowing white beard bearing an Indian name. It could be a picture, a video, and few lines in a book which you seemingly opened at random. But if a message hits you, do not rationalize it away with your mind. Go with it. See where it leads you. For once you have really and genuinely committed yourself to the answering of that question: What am I? the Whole Universe conspires towards your finding the answer.

I keep an open mind regarding reincarnation. So much makes sense. I also believe in the universal one, the pure spirit. We are such social animals in life, we want to be alike but different. I believe that at one time we were all one. The big bang split us apart to let us experience life on our own. At the end of our journey we go back to that oneness. I enjoyed this article. :)

Hi Tom. I found this article very interesting and I liked the story of your Hub. "When the student is ready, the Master will come." I found that really fascinating and I wish you had made article longer, because it was not only informative to read, it was based on good knowledge and through your P.O.V in understanding this subject. Good work. I endeavor to be back and read some more.

The desire to write is within some of us. We just can't help yourselves. I suppose giving an opinion is the same.

Why have an opinion, ThreeKeys? Because you can. You are - according to Dr. Roberto Assagioli, and his opinion seems plausible to me - "A center of consciousness with a will." Your will gives you the deciding factor to have an opinion, your "center of consciousness" the ability to experience it. So keep coming up with your opinions. They are yours to use as and where you will.

I just don't know anything about anymore.....why do we write?...why have an opinion?...why anything, really.

ThreeKeys, I can remember angrily claiming that I didn't ask to be born when I was around twenty years of age. But what part of me was making that statement? My mind; my beliefs at the time. And where did they come from? What what I'd learned up until that time.

Re my learning automatic writing. I wrote a book on that way back in the 1970s called Ghost Guidance and Automatic Writing. Happy to send it to you as PDF and free of charge. You'll need to contact me by email with your email address. My email address should be easier enough to find on Google.

Very interesting. The integration of the physical, intellectual and spiritual are paramount in my way of believing. The closer to those three not being separated the further that we may be. But further to where? The notion that going/coming home is a goal, finds me seeing a circular awareness not linear or graduating at all.

    Very good stuff Tom, thanks

Tom what did you do to train yourself to do automatic writing?

Because of the life I have led (or haven't led) I am growing more and more to think we do carry the weight of our ancestors. The only way to STOP the inherited karma? What is your take there, Tom?

To me a child does not ask to be born. People who become parents need to realize not only how much of a privlege it is; and that if they "stuff up" and the child/children doesn't live a full and wonderous life, I am going to be bold here and say, the parents are to be held to account for the life of the child. We have tests to learn to drive a car. But no manual or tests to see if you make the grade of being repsonsible to grow and guide another human being.
