Perspective : glass half empty or half full?

Updated on April 13, 2011

Is the glass half full or half empty?

You have been asked this question once or twice already--I am sure of that. But if not, then let me ask you this : how do you see the glass? half full or half empty?

However you perceive that glass to be is neither right or wrong, because that is based on how you view things: your perspective.

To a lot of people, the glass always looks half empty; yet to some, the glass is definitely half-full.

To those that see it half-empty, it is probably because, as humans, it is our default to view things on a not-so-positive manner. Or, it is also possible that this negative disposition stems out from man's unsatisfied behavior or thinking. I believe that our minds have been "programmed" into expecting the bad side, rather than the good side.

What contributed to this kind of behavior might have been our parents, our environment, our friends, media and even the books that we read or the songs that we listened to as we were growing up.

It could be that we lacked the affirmation that we needed to hear and receive from our parents that brought about our nonchalant attitude in life. It could have been our classmates or friends who called us by "names" that unknowingly formed the way think, that eventually showed in the way we act and eventually shows in the way we live.

To those that view the glass half full...well and good! The future will always look bright for you.

Now, as we carefully examine ourselves and our perspective, we should always keep in mind that while it may be true that our minds have been "programmed" to fail, we can always re-program. Not by our own ability and strength, but by the Word of God.

We should think as Christ thinks. We should see things as Christ sees things : in His perspective.

To some, their situation maybe the end of the road for them-- that is based on their perspective--but God's perspective is higher and farther than how we see things. End of the road only means the start of something new in God's perspective.

You can change your perspective by building your faith in God. You can build your faith in God by constantly reading His Word, the bible. The bible says, we need a constant RENEWING of our minds. We have to get rid of the things that was inculcated to us by society, its wrong belief system, the wrong perspective of our friends. These has got to go away.

We have to renew our minds, daily. Read His Word. Build your Faith. Change your perspective. Change your destiny.

I'm a positive person but I think I definitely will say the glass is half EMPTY. Isn't that interesting. With everything else, I always find a silver lining.

      Great Hub!
