My late mother Virginia Walker told one of the best ghost stories ever told by anyone and if you'll listen to the words of this story you'll discover a lot of proof that ghosts are very real. My Mom told us this ghost story all her life and before she passed away I was lucky enough to get her on video tape telling her wonderful ghost story.

My Experiences With My Mom's Ghost Or Spirit

My Mom and me had always had a deal that we would contact each other if there was any way possible if either of us died. My Mom passed away on January 6th, 2010 and on Saturday after she passed away on Wednesday I was to do her funeral service that afternoon. I was in the living room where there was a rocking horse that belonged to a young friend of mine and my mom. The rocking horse would make horse galloping sounds if a child rode it. As I walked towards that rocking horse it began to rock back and forth and make its horse galloping sounds. It stopped almost as soon as it started and I said Mom if that's you do it again. Almost at once the horse started rocking and making the galloping sounds again. It was just simply amazing. Proof at least to me that my Mom's spirit or ghost was there in the room with me.

The state of North Carolina is a strange mixture of mysteries, the unexplained, and ghost stories and tales. If you were to look around at all the states in the United States I think you would find that North Carolina has some of the spookiest ghost stories in the state. Being from North Carolina I have made it my goal to research and document as many of the ghost stories, and tales of mystery of North Carolina that I possibly can. I will be 61 or so this year and ever since I was a very young man I have known for a fact that ghosts do exist. From a very young age I have been able to see and hear things that other people were not able to see and hear. I don't really know why but there are some people who can see ghosts and other paranormal activity and some people who can not. I do have Native American blood and I have often wondered if that was the reason but over the years as I have researched ghosts and the paranormal I have met people with out known Native American blood that could also see and hear ghosts and other paranormal activity. Why is it this way I don't really know. But I do know beyond a shadow of a doubt that ghosts and other forms of paranormal activity are very real. And on this page and others linked to it we will explore haunted North Carolina.

The Devils Tramping Ground

Located out in the woods 10 miles east of Siler City North Carolina in western Chatham County is where the Devil's Tramping Ground is located. It has been a mystery for many years as the Devils Tramping Ground which is a circle like path out in the woods has known to have been there for several hundred years. It was already there when the first white men came to the area and looks much the same now as it did then. Local legend says that the devil makes the path walking around and around thinking. It is widely known that if you place an item in the path it will be moved out of the path in the night. What is it causes this mystery. Many people have tried but so far no one has ever been able to explain the mystery of the Devils Tramping Ground.

North Carolina Is A Hot Bed Of Paranormal Activity

I have found more ghosts and paranormal activity in North Carolina than in any other state and I believe I have checked out the ghosts and ghost stories in most of them. Doctor Jamie Smith was quite the colorful character who reminds me a lot of the doctor in the movie Field of Dreams. It is said that Doctor Jamie Smith was a medical doctor who loved his profession and baseball. But he also loved to drink and it was in a bar called Broadways Tavern in 1902 where Doctor Jamie Smith was killed in a fight with other men. It is said that the doctor who carried a small one shot pistol drew his pistol and the shot went into the ceiling. In the next instant he was stabbed several time in the back and died there in the bar. Now while that should have been the end of it and the story should have ended there it did not. Before long people were seeing Doctor Jamie Smith in his long black trench coat and fedora walking through chicken alley after dark. He has been reported in other locations around Asheville but it is there in Chicken Alley where he is seen most often.

Chicken Alley is a narrow alley located off Woodfin Street in Asheville and though we have been there several times in an attempt to met Doctor Jamie Smith so far I have not been able to though I will try every time I am there at the right time of day. Johnny Logan has told me the story many times of seeing Doctor Jamie Smith walk through the alley there. He said he saw him plain as day and could even smell the cigar Doctor Smith was smoking as walked along through Chicken Alley on his way home to his wife Annie who outlived the doctor by 41 years. I have always hoped that one day I may be there in Chicken Alley at just the right time of day and just may get to meet a man I have wondered about for many years.

You will hear several different stories told about the Pink Lady Ghost of the Grove Park Inn in Asheville North Carolina and some people claim she was pushed to her death while other people claim she jumped to her own death. It is said that she has been seen for a number of years by both the staff of the Grove Park Inn and by guests. I myself have saw this ghost as she walked along the second floor out on the balcony of the second floor at the Grove Park Inn. What ever I saw there seemed to walk along for a time and then just simply vanished into the wall so yes I can say I have seen the Pink Lady Ghost of the Grove Park Inn. It is around room 545 where there have been many tales of paranormal activity. It was also very near this area where I saw the Pink Lady Ghost of the Grove Park Inn.  Over the years other people have claimed that doors open and close on their own in the area and lights in the area go off and on often. Many times the owners have had the electricity checked but no problem can ever be found. Just maybe if you stay at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville North Carolina you to will get a chance to meet the Pink Lady of the Grove Park Inn.
