New Age

So many "experts" today say we should trust ourselves or have faith in ourselves.

The poll above asks you this very question. Do you?

Buddhism and the art of Zen say to trust yourself.

Harvard graduate and bestselling author, Peter Bregman teaches to trust yourself.

Another self-proclaimed expert, Mike Robbins, teaches the same.

All through the world and the new age thinking, this idea of trusting yourself is prevalent. Below is just a few links showing this. Many talk shows and speakers teach this idea of trusting or having faith in yourself.

Quotes and Videos

There are quote after quote on trusting yourself:

A human being is only interesting if he's in contact with himself. I learned you have to trust yourself, be what you are, and do what you ought to do the way you should do it. You have got to discover you, what you do, and trust it.Barbra Streisand (1942 - )

A man who doesn't trust himself can never truly trust anyone else.Cardinal de Retz, Memoires

As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live.Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 - 1832), Faust

Trust thyself only, and another shall not betray thee.Thomas Fuller (1608 - 1661)

Here is a video about trusting yourself:

Trust In God

Courage, brother! do not stumble,
Though thy path is dark as night;
There's a star to guide the humble--
Trust in God and do the right.

Let the road be long and dreary,
And its ending out of sight;
Foot it bravely--strong or weary,
Trust in God and do the right.

Perish "policy" and cunning,
Perish all that fears the light;
Whether losing, whether winning,
Trust in God and do the right.

Trust no party, trust no faction,
Trust no leaders in the fight;
But in every word and action
Trust in God and do the right.

Trust no forms of guilty passion,
Fiends can look like angels bright;
Trust no custom, school, or fashion,
Trust in God and do the right.

Some will hate thee, some will love thee,
Some will flatter, some will slight;
Turn from man, and look above thee,
Trust in God and do the right.

Simple rule and safest guiding,
Inward peace and inward light;
Star upon our path abiding,

The Truth

The people above are all wrong! These are all lies. Scroll down and I will show you why.

The Holy Bible and Jesus taught us a much different view.

We cannot trust ourselves; we were all born into sin and sin is our nature.

Read your Bible. The first place I will start is Proverbs; the book of wisdom. Proverbs 3:5-7 says: Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

That is pretty straight forward!

We are to trust God, not man and we are man; we cannot trust in ourselves.

So how do we trust God and not ourselves? The Bible teaches us this too. First we must pray; we must read and study our Bibles; not because we "have to" but because we want to. Fasting is also important. Fasting from the things that hold us back from God.

I didn't go to Harvard, don't have a talk show or am not a "guru", but we do read and study God's Word.

Stop trusting in yourself, in your money and in your possessions and trust God and you won't go wrong.

May God bless you richly in His Grace and Mercy and sing praises unto Him!

      The scripture says "Be still and know that I am God!"

      The I AM is the God of Moses, the God of the bible, not the i meaning we or us of the new age movement.

      I am happy you wrote about this. It does confuse people when it is said "having faith in yourself". Actually when you really trust God and He lives in your heart...comes..."cause and effect". A heart with God in it will be trusted...for then we could have faith in us by "Him" "God". It is really not trusting is trusting God which lives in us.
