Ramadan Blessing

When is Ramadan 2017?

The Muslims living all over the world have started preparing for the Holy Month Ramadan 2017 now. During this holy month, the Muslims observe fasting with full devotion. Ramadan is the ninth month of the year, according to the Islamic calendar. In 2017, the holy month will start in the month of May.

The date of the Islamic months keeps on varying every year. This year, 27th May 2017 will be the first day of the Month of Ramadan. The month will end on 24th June. At the end of this month, the Muslims will celebrate their religious festival, Eid-ul-Fitr.

The first day of the month of Shawal (10th month of the Islamic year) marks the end of the month of fasting and it is a day for celebrations.

THE HADITH ON FASTING

Abu Huraira related that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

"Whoever fasts during Ramadan with faith and seeking his reward from Allah will have his past sins forgiven. Whoever prays during the nights in Ramadan with faith and seeking his reward from Allah will have his past sins forgiven. And he who passes Lailat al-Qadr in prayer with faith and seeking his reward from Allah will have his past sins forgiven" (Bukhari, Muslim).

Why do the Muslims Observe Fasting?

Why do the Muslims all over the world observe fasting in the month of Ramadan? The same is going to happen during Ramadan 2017. Observing fasting is one of the five major pillars of the religion Islam and therefore, Muslims keep fast during this month.

During fasting, they neither eat anything, nor drink from dawn to dusk. In the evening, at the time of Maghrib prayer, the fasting time ends and then they enjoy delicious feasts.

To observe fasting is a great way to worship Allah and to show your devotion to your religion. When you are keeping a fast, you are very close to Allah. Also, fasting in Ramadan creates feelings of mercy and kindness inside us for the people who are not fortunate.

Ramadan & Islam

During the month of Ramadan, the Muslims get a chance for performing intense prayer to show devotion to Allah. Also, fasting in this month is a way to encourage five prayers daily as without performing five prayers a day, there remains no value of keeping a fast.

Therefore, in Islam, the month of Ramadan has a great importance. During this month, Muslims also recite Holy Quran specifically. During Ramadan, the Muslims are going to follow the same way of worshiping Allah.

The month of Ramadan has a great value for the Muslims as,

  • Fasting in Ramadan helps us in realizing the difficulties of the needy people.
  • Muslims give charity at the end of the month, Thus, it gives us a way to help our needy people.
  • Fasting is also good for your health and it has additional health benefits.
  • Fasting in Ramadan also promotes a sense of brotherhood among Muslims.
  • By fasting during the same month, the Muslims get a chance of strengthening their unity.
  • The month of Ramadan brings you closer to Allah.
  • This holy month is full of blessings and one is under the mercy of Allah during the whole month.

The month Ramadan is near to come, and now you need to start preparing for this holy month that is full of the blessings of Allah. Thus, observe fasting in Ramadan also and get closer to Allah.
