Introduction

The Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit - the Trinity. The Father is the Creator and Sovereign Ruler. The Son is Lord and Savior. The Holy Spirit is Helper and Empowerer of Christians. These are the three persons of the Godhead. Yet, the Holy Spirit is sometimes a neglected topic, even though understanding the Holy Spirit is a vitally important topic for Christians.

Once you are saved and filled with the Holy Spirit, you are sealed in the Holy Spirit. The Spirit indwells you, and no one can snatch you out of God's Hand. You are transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light. The Holy Spirit is also the Helper and Comforter of Christians, as well as leading the believer into truth. The Holy Spirit will seek to develop the fruits of the Spirit in a Christian's life.

Narcissism: Echo Apologetics raises awareness about narcissism, mobbings, and stalkers. During the years of being stalked by multiple perpetrators various issues have been presented by same surrounding the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a primary issue for the believer. The general rule being that one should not part ways with someone over secondary issues they disagree on, only primary issues.

In the history of the Church, one can find those breaking off due to all kinds of issues, including even not liking the pews. Pews are a secondary issue that should not divide Christians, but primary issues like the Holy Spirit are a different issue. Be sure in this day of tolerance not to tolerate the wrong things.

For example, if someone tells you he or she believes in the Father and the Son, but denies the Holy Spirit, then you are not talking to a Christian as the Bible defines it. Based on personal experience, you may actually be dealing with a deceiver.

Then, let us not forget that it is blaspheming the Holy Spirit that is the unpardonable sin. It has been my experience that someone who has not committed the unpardonable sin will sometimes be convinced and worried that they have. As John MacArthur puts it in his video later in this article, the clarification seeks to make the uncomfortable comfortable, and the comfortable uncomfortable!

...having a form of godliness but denying its power. Turn away from such as these! 2 Timothy 3:5

The Holy Spirit Convicts Sinners of Their Sin

In John 16:7- Jesus tells of His going away, but that He will not leave them as orphans. When He goes away He will send another Helper, referring to the Holy Spirit:

But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper [the Holy Spirit] will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged. I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. But when He, the Spirit of truth [the Holy Spirit], comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. NASB

Quenching or Grieving the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit convicts sinners of their sin. Once saved a Christian should not quench or grieve the Holy Spirit by engaging in ongoing intentional sin. This can become a dangerous spiritual situation. For example, you do something and feel horrible the first time, but you do it again. This time you feel bad, but not quite as bad. This is not "relieve," but the quenching of the Holy Spirit. You do not want to arrive at a place where sin no longer bothers you.

Distinction

You do not clean yourself up, then come to God. You come to God, and He cleans you up. So, as a Christian be sure to note the difference between the Holy Spirit putting His finger on something God wants to deal with, and Satan trying to brow beat you with past mistakes. The Holy Spirit will bring something up in order to deal with it. Satan will throw past mistakes in your face in order to discourage, embarrass, harass, etc.

Sealed in the Holy Spirit

In 2005 I was targeted in a severe workplace mobbing and multiple perpetrator stalking campaign. For the following 18 months stalkers attempted to convince me that I was "demon possessed." This appears to be one of their "games," with one stalker even declaring that I was "no fun" because I did not "believe in anything." What he actually meant was that the Bible rules out so many of their "games."

In any case, as a born-again, Spirit-filled Christian, I knew I could not become demon possessed. I am sealed in the Holy Spirit. So, the perpetrators finally conceded claiming that I'm not "possessed," but "oppressed."

The Bible says once you are saved and filled with the Holy Spirit, no one can snatch you out of God's Hand. Ephesians 1:13:

In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation--having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory. NASB

The Holy Spirit: Comforter, Helper, and Power

The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, Helper, and the source of power.

So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria enjoyed peace, being built up; and going on in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it continued to increase. Acts 9:31 NASB

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. John 14:26 NASB

...but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth. Acts 1:8 NASB

Fruits of the Spirit

The fruits of the Spirit contrasting the works of the fresh can be found in Galatians 5:19-26:

Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.

The Unforgivable Sin: Blaspheming the Holy Spirit

The unpardonable sin is to blaspheme the Holy Spirit. The video below by John MacArthur is about 45 minutes long, but it is a thorough explanation of the unpardonable or unforgivable sin. It is worth the investment of the 45 minutes in order to gain that rather thorough explanation. This is especially true if it has been an issue or if the topic is unclear at this point.

This video regarding the unpardonable sin is based on the following Bible verses in Mark 3:20-35:

And He came home, and the crowd gathered again, to such an extent that they could not even eat a meal. When His own people heard of this, they went out to take custody of Him; for they were saying, “He has lost His senses.” The scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “He casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons.” And He called them to Himself and began speaking to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. If Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but he is finished! But no one can enter the strong man’s house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house.

“Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”— because they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”

Then His mother and His brothers arrived, and standing outside they sent word to Him and called Him. A crowd was sitting around Him, and they said to Him, “Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are outside looking for You.” Answering them, He said, “Who are My mother and My brothers?” Looking about at those who were sitting around Him, He said, “Behold My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of God, he is My brother and sister and mother.” NASB

It is the habit of some who appear to be in the church for no other reason than to cause turmoil, destruction, and pain, to try to convince especially a new Christian that they have committed the unpardonable sin. This is, of course, to discourage a new Christian with the implication that you may as well eat, drink, and be merry, because you have already blown it, and not only have you blown it, but you have permanently blown it. This video is a wise investment of time for those who have or are experiencing this situation, too. As John MacArthur puts it in the video, this video is to make "the uncomfortable comfortable, and the comfortable uncomfortable."

This video also points out a common argument regarding those claiming to be finding common ground by stating they think Jesus was a good man or even another prophet. While this might sound good, it nullifies the cross. Jesus Christ was not just a good man, teacher, or prophet. Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world and the only son of God. Jesus Christ was either who He said He is, or he's a lunatic, or a liar.

Stalkers Causing Confusion and Great Deception

The multiple perpetrator stalking campaign has continued for many years, and not just against me. Having been a Christian for many years, shortly after graduating from law school, and in my early 40s at the time of the 2005 workplace mobbing and multiple perpetrator stalking, I realized something had changed about the way I heard God. I had no idea at that time it was due to stalker technology.

Just be aware that there exists technology for someone to remotely whisper in your ear, and generally speaking these are not pleasant individuals, but abusive, brow beating, deceitful, often highly dangerous and deadly perpetrators working in organized cult-like groups, based solely on my experience. In my experience, these predators will intentionally attempt to mislead and confuse you by trying to "play God." So always rely on the Holy Spirit, including trusting Him to make Himself clear to you when you are trying to hear Him, and recall that God does not contradict His Word.

Conclusion

The three persons of the Godhead are the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This is the Holy Trinity. The Father is the Creator and Sovereign Ruler. The Son is Lord and Savior. The Holy Spirit is Helper and Empowerer of Christians.

While the Holy Spirit convicts of sin, once you are saved and filled with the Holy Spirit, no one can snatch you out of God's hand. The Holy Spirit is the Christian's Helper and Comforter. The fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

If you have worried about committing the unforgivable sin, this clarity has hopefully put your mind at ease. Learn all you can about living in the power and under the direction of the Holy Spirit!

Yes, there is a lot to digest in the article but I thought that was more than okay since it is so encouraging!

It is true that the work of Holy Spirit in the life of the believer gets too little recognition. Thanks for spelling it out with such detail and making it so clear. Quite a lot to digest!
