"Hope" is something special. It is something we all want to cling to, a feeling we don't want to lose. It is an expectation that what we desire may someday come true.
It is an anchor in the storm, a lifeline that keeps us afloat, a push that keeps us going when we might want to give up, it is hope, sometimes hard to define yet something we all seem to need.
I was reminded of this yesterday while shopping at my local thrift store with my grand-son. I found "Hope" yesterday, I wasn't really looking for it but it happened to cross my path and I couldn't let it go. The "Hope" I am referring to is an adorable beanie baby, kneeling in prayer. For some reason, I was instantly drawn to this little bundle of fur. Actually, my grand-son found it in the toy section of the store and brought it to me.
Often times, that is how we happen to find hope in our lives, someone we know brings it to us at just the right time.
"Hope" the beanie, was born March 23, 1998. I am not sure what was going on in our world 11 years ago when "Hope" was created, but there must have been a reason someone had the idea to design this particular beanie, perhaps it was just to remind us all that we need to hope and pray.
And now, in March 2009, into my world "Hope" came. Even though I reasoned I didn't need to buy her, I just couldn't seem to leave her behind, everyone needs "Hope" I said, and into my shopping cart she went.
Now, as I write, "Hope" sits next to me on the window sill, reminding me to always hope and always pray. She will be my daily reminder to keep moving forward and looking ahead no matter what my present circumstances are, for hope is a feeling that what is wanted will happen, it is desire accompanied by expectation. So, In times of uncertainty I will not lose hope but will pray and expect God to answer, and while weathering any crisis in my life, I will hold hope close and be comforted.
I pray we will all do the same and that each of us will find and hold onto hope daily or be able to bring it into someone else's life at just the right time of need.
