How Do You Love The Unloveable?

Updated on March 2, 2010

Being Perfect

Matthew 5:43-48

"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor[a] and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies[b] and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Have you tried to love someone that is just not loveable? Have you tried to be perfect like your heavenly Father?

Oh how hard it is to love someone that just keeps bullying you or who gossips about you, or gets angry with you and you just can't figure out why.

I wrote another devotion this morning, someone sure didn't like it, being humble is the title, may it spoke to them right at that moment. Well I'm here to lift up our heavenly Father whether others like it or not, how do we love someone like that? Read the passage above prayfully. We must put all our effort into being humble and loving others that just give us a hard time. I'm 44 and alot of people have given me so much of a hard time, at times.

Jesus says love our enemies, love those who persecute you, love others that are unloveable. Let's try no matter what, let's love, Jesus did, He even gave up His life because He loves us.

Thank you for this post. I have been experiencing some "yuckiness" (undeserved, of course ;-) that requires me to pray for my enemies. Thanks to God's grace, I am finally able to do it from my heart, and with love -- Christ's love, but love, nonetheless. Your words were exactly what I needed to read this morning. Thank you!

Know that you have done your part when you do things in love. Because God is love. All people have problems, but a realationship with God (love) teaches us how to trouble our troubles. People get on the defensive side and try to justify their wrongs. God's WORD is God's WORD, regardless of how anybody feels about it. He don't need us. We need him. Keep on spreading the GOOD NEWS!

      Jesusmyjoy,

      This is so true!

"Oh how hard it is to love someone that just keeps bullying you or who gossips about you, or gets angry with you and you just can't figure out why." Know that it is not easy but you can do it. No matter what you do they won't be pleased and it will not be enough. But don't let them stop you being you. You can "overcome evil with good." have peace knowing God knows your heart.

      Blessings

You overcome evil with good! Have Peace knowing the Lord really does know your heart!

I didn't know how to love or be loved then I had an encounter with the living God and this transformed me. I can't take any credit for the change I didn't do anything to deserve it or earn it in anyway and all I can tell you is that He change the area of my life's greatest poverty ie love and turned it into my richest and I have been blessed by Him transforming me into a lover since that day. The transformation was instant and enduring and from that day on I have never been able to meet anyone that I can't find something in them to love I don't know how God has done that but I am glad that he did.

Here is what I ddi to solve that problem cause I myself, just could not love them. I first went before the Lord, He always wants us to go to Him for whatever our needs may be. I said, " Lord, my heart is flawed. I just cannot do this. Take my heart and give me Yours in its place. Love them through this new heart in me: After I prayed that I have never been the same. Its like He opened up the floodgates and I could feel His love in a way I never could before.
