How Do You Witness

Updated on March 6, 2014

Give it to God

How do you witness to people? Do you know just what to say? Are you one that has trouble talking to people? Not that you do not know what to say, but, you just cannot speak to strangers. Believe it or not I can ably speak to a thousand people at once from a stage or pulpit but it scares me terribly to speak one on one.

See, I know the plan of salvation and can take my Bible and start from wherever and show someone Jesus and how to be saved. But I have (had) a fear. That is being vulnerable in front of a single person. I would not be able to show emotion, and always have feared relationships. So I started witnessing by going with someone else that could break the ice. Then I started passing out Gospel tracts, silently at that. I would drop one in a public place or on a doorstep. Then I married a lady that knows no strangers. She can speak to anyone, anywhere, anytime! So our partnership is awesome, she can start by asking someone about how they feel about today's social issues and how God fits into them and then I can show them Jesus. Through her I am challenged to take the Gospel everywhere I go.

How is your prayer life to be a witness to Jesus? I used to pray," God lead someone to me that they hear Jesus today." But I have recently changed that prayer to," God show me someone that I cannot get away from until they know Jesus as the Risen Saviour and completely know the plan of salvation." That prayer was answered this past September when I was at work and led a man to Jesus in his driveway. My wife heard the first part of the conversation (cell in pocket with her waiting for me to resume talking to her) and she said the man is reaching out he needs saved go back. When I went back he accepted Christ right there in his driveway.

Since that day I have handed out over 2,000 tracts in driveways and doors while working. Just this week I have seen three people completely read those tracts before they went back inside the house.

So what does all this have to do with a website for fasting and prayer and revival? My friends the church (you and I as Christians) being obedient to God and sharing His Gospel IS revival. Some of these people may have never heard the Word before. It is up to you and I to get the Word of God out to the public. In the last year I have passed out over 10,000 tracts one at a time. I leave them in grocery stores, malls, restaurants, wherever I may be able to hand one off or drop one to be seen.

There is a free tract league for obtaining all the Gospel tracts you may need it is Fellowship tract league in Ohio. You may order tracts at... all tracts are free of charge, order up to 1000 at a time. You also can order some good tracts at they do charge for what you get but they are worth every penny.

So let me ask you, can you drop a Gospel tract? Do something BOLD for Jesus!

Find the joy of watching a person pick up that message and read it. Where one sows another will reap. My friends the fields are white and ready for harvest, what will you do?

Thanks for the great reply and the awesome testimony. Most of the time it is the utterance of that first word and when that is out and we are obedient to God then He takes over. His Holy Spirit takes the conversation and gives the words to be spoken. And YES it is a very serious calling that all of us in Christ need to give haste and proclaim His Word.

Great page for the encouragement to spread the Gospel of Jesus more with no fear.

This is the very thing that God used to break into my heart so I would have a strong passionate desire to love and lead all people to Jesus.

When I lead people to Jesus it increases my faith because God truly does something special for each and every person he leads me to.

I pray and ask for God to lead me by his Holy Spirit to who he wants me to talk to. I also pray that I will have a word that is season for them and that the word of God will have free course in Jesus name.

I bind up all works of the devil over all the people I am lead to, including the spirit of antichrist, unbelief, all familiar spirits and etc in Jesus name. No set pray but always lead by the Holy Spirit so I pray how God wants me to. So what ever comes to my remembrance while praying I pray.

So I talk to whoever God leads me to and say what he gives me when I'm standing in front of the person or people. I have to just start talking and believe that it will come out and that God will have his way. The only main thread of course with what I'm telling the people is about the love of God and leading them into acceptance of Jesus as there Lord and Savior and by laying on of hands the Holy Spirit shall be received, so most of them I get to pray for them to be filled with the Holy Spirit in Jesus name.

It is awesome to experience the power of God when they are being filled the Holy Spirit. I remember when I was talking to this prostitute on Main st and was leading her to Jesus and when I prayed for her to be filled with Holy Spirit I felt God's Spirit and saw her eyes tear up as God was touching her and filling her up.

These are some examples of how I do street ministry to spread the gospel of Jesus. I am not the person anyone would think of doing street ministry because I really have in the past had strong fear in approaching strangers, so this is only because of God that I can open my mouth and speak boldly with faith. I still can only do this when I'm leading people to Jesus, other times I still struggle with talking to strangers and groups.

I can not be shy if I know that this will change someones life, offering Jesus to a dying lost world is the best thing anyone can do to effect mankind for eternity. If we do not answer and do as we have been commissioned we will have the blood of the lost on our hands because we just walked by them and ignored the fact of God telling you he wanted to save there life and soul but you were to ashamed of this Gospel of Jesus Christ that saved your life and soul and pulled you out of destruction but you cared nothing about His people or the call he placed on your life.

We are not to good to talk to the broken people unbiased talk to the poor, rich, dying, healthy, drug dealers, prostitutes, mentally handicapped, old and young God does not one to perish but all to know and accept Jesus!

This is a serious call and I take it seriously thanks for a great page!

Thanks for such a great question! Yes, I have run across scoffers a lot. I may just write a hub on that I am sure there are a lot on the hubs that would scoff every word we say. I believe we are seeing the results of the scoffers before our eyes today. Christianity is persecuted in greater masses today than ever before. We cannot talk pray or share where we once were welcomed. In the early days of the United States as schools were developing the Bible was taught every day as required classes. Now we have children suspended, expelled, or arrested for having Bibles in public schools. So the answer is after all that the earth itself is groaning, calling for Jesus to return. Tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanos all these are the crying out for the return so soon to come. Creation itself is evidence of the work of God. One reply is, you see that building there? I believe it does not really exist, do you? So the unbelieving says, yes you can see it. Well how did it get there? (unbeliever) it had a builder, but I do not see a builder there, (unb) but you see the results there is a building. (me) So you do believe without seeing? That is how we are to have faith in God by not seeing but believing.

Thanks for the reply and yes that is what we are to do use our God given abilities to speak or show God to the lost.

Yes breaking the ice is the start. It is so good to be the one able to see the work come forth from beginning to end but so many times it is they that sow, water and reap.

Yes, the eternal destiny of the lost lay in our very hands and as in Ezekiel we are told to warn the wicked of their evil ways. Our actions and words may offend but also may have eternal reward or consequences.

The easier part for me is where I am not known, " A prophet is not without honor save in his own country," comes to mind for me.

I'm curious Michael, in all of your meetings, have you run across any scoffers. People that don't believe there even is a God? I would be very much interested to hear how you responded. If we all did what you do, I'm sure we would come across some that would try to convince us we believe in a fairy tale. I wonder how many of us would truly be able to defend the faith in that situation.

      Keep up the noble work!

Yes speaking to a stranger can be very hard if you go into a place where they don't know you, but to witness to people in your own area not so bad as most people would have seen you around, but to get that first word out well...............

Jesus has said that He will give what to say to others

What a great hub! I believe, if we were honest, it's something we all struggle with. If we don't struggle, I'd be concerned. If we don't I wonder, do we really understand the seriousness and the consequences of our message. It's just that that drives us on in spite of ourselves. The consequences--the eternal destiny of living souls depend on it. We'll be held responsible by God Himself for how we share His Word. Thanks for another wonderful hub from the heart!

up and beautiful! God bless you my young friend. Many have this same issue of 'breaking the ice'. I think it may just be Satan, trying to convince us we are not capable or don't know the right words. Many try to 'save' the person they witness to. Like the Bible says, some sow (the Word), other water (witness), and someone else may get to harvest (experience the person's acceptance of Jesus as Lord of their lives). We need to let Christ do the saving.

I watched a friend witness to everyone he met. He would ask them if they could tell him something about Jesus and when they couldn't, he would say, "then let me tell you what He's done for me." That will certain break the ice.
