How can Eternal God have Beginning and End

Updated on April 22, 2013

Is God Contradicting His Own Statement?

I am contemplating in mind to resolve the question that if God is eternal then why did he say that he is the beginning and end in the Holy Bible. As I am getting answers to this I am sharing it here. I do not claim that this understanding of mine is true because truth is ever changing , when we reach one level of truth there is further more truth to be explored. I will explain about this ever changing truth later. As I will be talking about God and his plan of creation, I only want to say that your faith is your responsibility, I have no part in it.

In Bible God say's that he is eternal and he also say's "I am the beginning and end". Before I truly understood what he actually meant , I was always thinking how can it be true as much as I knew eternal means that which has no beginning or end and God say's that he is beginning and end. This for me was such a contradicting statement made by God.

Everything God created is cyclic or circular

The first book in Bible starts with 'in the beginning God created heaven and the earth' and in the last book of Bible it is mentioned that God destroyed the old heaven and earth and created new heaven and earth. Is'nt this the plan of God that he creates new heaven and earth, as they become old he destroys them and again creates another new heaven and earth. Everything God created is cyclic in nature, like sun (day and night), rains(movement of water), solar system etc.

The people of the regions where Bible was understood, taught and spread it to the world always believed that the earth is straight and flat, only few centuries back they released that earth is round. So they are naturally inclined to understand things in straight line but even their science has proved that if a line is extended straight into space at some point it starts bending and ends up as a circle.

So what I want to emphasize here is that if The Bible is studied keeping in mind the circular or cyclic nature the truth revealed will be more strong. As I try to answer my question with this cyclic mindset I am getting better understanding of God and his plan of creation.

My answer to how eternal God can be begining and end

Yes God is eternal and also he is the beginning and the end. This can be very well be understood by looking at the watch. As per the watch we follow the day starts 0:00 am and the day ends at 12:00 pm (I.e 0:00 am), the start and end of the day is same point in the clock. In the same way the direct interaction of God happens only during the creation of new world order (beginning) and during destruction of unrepairable corrupt world order(end). In between the beginning and end of the world order God keeps sending his chosen son's as helper to repair the world order. This process of creation and destruction of world order is cyclic from time immortal to time immortal that is eternal.

This is why God say's that he is eternal and also he is the beginning and end. This is also the reason why God say's that he knows everything from beginning to end, he knows about you even before your seed was planted in your mother's womb, without his permission not even a leaf can move. This is Gods eternal plan of creation, destruction and recreation.

If after destroying earth God judges us and then he puts us into eternal heaven or eternal hell, does it mean that we are also eternal? Where is our beginning and end?, I will be answering this question in my next post so kindly subscribe to my post, I also request you to share this post in your social network so that we can have a spiritually healthy discussion.
