How do we know for sure

Updated on September 18, 2012

Test them

But we come from God and belong to God. Anyone who knows God understands us and listens. The person who has nothing to do with God will, of course, not listen to us. This is another test for telling the Spirit of Truth from the spirit of deception.
1 John 4:6 msg

How do you know if someone claiming be bringing the message of God is from God?

You test them.

If they preach the gospel of prosperity (God will give you everything you pray for i.e. cars, money, mansions) they are liars. How do you know? Search the Bible. What does Jesus say? Seek ye first the kingdom of God.

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21 New International Version

Therefore we should be concentrating our energies on becoming intimate with Jehovah and sharing the wonderful gospel with others. The Bible commands us to live by Gods Law. Put Jehovah first. The concern and welfare of others is second.

Materialism is always last.

Anyone who tells you different is from his god who is satan and will lead you into hell. How many of these holy rollers do we see exposed now? They drive in expensive cars and live in mansions from donations given to the church. All the while there are people in their congregation that need money for an operation, need money for food for their families. Do you seriously believe Jesus approves of this horrid action by the charlatans claiming to be disciples from God? I pity them on the Day of Judgment.

That is why it is important to read your Bible every day and commune with God every day. As you do your knowledge of him will increase hugely. Then when one of these evil vipers comes slithering your way, trying to empty your pockets into their, you will have the wisdom to not only avoid their poison, but to expose them for the filth they are.

the wisdom to not only avoid their poison, but to expose them for the filth they are.

Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction; pay attention and gain understanding.
I give you sound learning, so do not forsake my teaching.
For I too was a son to my father, still tender, and cherished by my mother.
Then he taught me, and he said to me,
“Take hold of my words with all your heart; keep my commands, and you will live.
Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them.
Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you.
The beginning of wisdom is this: Getwisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.
Cherish her, and she will exalt you; embrace her, and she will honor you.
She will give you a garland to grace your head and present you with a glorious crown.” Proverbs 4: 1-9 New International Version

Prayer: Please Jehovah Rabbioni (Jehovah our Teacher) I hunger like a starving child for Your divine wisdom to guide me in this journey of life that intimately leads to You. I ask this in the name of the greatest Rabbi, Jesus Christ. Amen.

May the sunshine of Jesus’ sweet love bless you today and every day.

A good hub. I enjoyed this one, there is so much we can learn from Proverbs, and yet those saying are 'as old as the hills.' There may be 'nothing new under the sun', but a fresh approach can make it new for each individual person.

teacherjoe, This is a beautiful and powerful hub. I agree that we must devote ourselves to learning God's Word.

Your hub reminded me of II Tim. 3:16 "All Scripture is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right." NLT

God urges us in all of our getting to get wisdom. I remember as a young Christian reading about wisdom in the Proverbs. I saw how important it was to have this gift and have sought for and prayed for it ever since.

The word of God teaches imparts discernment and the ability to spot a false teacher. It is living and has power to change our hearts and lives.

so we can say with David, "The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy." Ps. 28:7

I appreciate your passionate prayer at the end .. It reveals your heart for God.

      God Bless You,

      Mekenzie

      Hi teaches.

      Thank you.

I have seen to many saying if Ibecome a Christian what will God do for me instead of saying what can I do for God.

      God bless you.

I believe that we must remember this advice as we head into the future. Never before have we known such diverse teachings and promotion of varied ideals and faith. Test them, according to the Word. Great wisdom, Teacher Joe.
