How do you worship

Updated on November 26, 2012

How to give it good to Him.

When we are in worship, we are to be Christ centered not self centered.

Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness. Psalm 29:2 New International Version

How many people do we see in church raising their hands when singing or saying “Yes Jesus, praise Jesus.” during prayer? Are they doing this to praise Jesus, or, are they doing it to attract attention to themselves? Now there is nothing wrong with having your hands uplifted. That is good. To do it for show, that is detestable to God and many in the congregation. We are to be considerate of others as well. How can I hear the preachers prayer if the person beside me keeps shouting (and yes I have experienced it where they were shouting constantly and unable to hear the prayer)? Romans eight says focusing on self is the opposite of focusing on God.

We are to worship Him with passion, not ceremonies. Hosea 6:6 Do you just go through the motions at church or when saying grace before, during or after a meal (personally, I prefer to quietly and sincerely passionately give thanks during the meal). How about your morning and or evening prayers? Do you just go through a ritual or do you passionately talk with God like someone you are deeply in love with? That does not necessarily mean emotion like joy or sorrow, just passion. Joy and sorrow are important in their place but need not be in all our conversations with our beloved. How about your daily life?

Do you worship God in the way you behave during the day? Just as children try to be good to impress Santa Claus, shouldn’t our lives reflect Christ? We do not do it to get something from God, but rather out of our of worship for who He is in our lives and all the blessing He has so abundantly blessed us with.

We need to discover all over again that worship is natural to the Christian, as it was to the godly Israelites who wrote the psalms, and that the habit of celebrating the greatness and graciousness of God yields an endless flow of thankfulness, joy, and zeal.J.I. Packer

Prayer: Please Holy Spirit move my heart to grateful, loving worship of our awesome Yahew (God of His people). I ask this in the name of Him who showed us the correct way to worship our beloved Jesus Christ. Amen

May the sunshine of Jesus’ sweet love bless you today and every day.

Great hub which presents great insight on worship. Worship is not just a ritual it could be our way of life. It is more than just singing a song it is meditating on the beauty of the Lord daily in our life. Our entire life could be a life of worship. Thank you for posting this beautiful hub here at Hubpages. May God's richest blessings be always be with you. I am wishing you a great day today. Best regards.
