Spiritual Living

People are generally accustomed to their living environment, country and tribe. However when found in foreign country with different cultures and language the individual would be confused, depressed or anxious.

Culture shock is a common phenomenon especially among travelers in completely strange surroundings. This is because many things need to be learnt and the familiar becomes foreign.

Becoming a Christian

Becoming a Christian follows similar feelings and experiences because the individual needs to learn how to live by the spirit. Living a physical life based on one perception and character must be put aside while the individual must learn to live in the spiritual.

Spiritual Nature of the Christian

According to the bible man is a living soul that exists in a body and has a spirit. The body is the vessel that connects us to the physical world. While our spirit is the link to the spirit world and God.

Our souls includes the will, emotions and mind are influenced by the spirit and body. It is a fact that all men are born with a sinful nature however Christians are born again, possess the Holy Spirit and have a new nature.

The Spiritual Nature of People

The spiritual nature of people, according to the bible is described by three kinds of people. We have the non-Christians, the spiritual Christians and the worldly Christians.

THE Non-Christian

The non-Christian does not have Christ or eternal life. Their lives are influenced by Satan and the world around them. Their life is dominated by the sin nature and they have no fellowship with Him. They are basically an enemy of God and unable to live a life pleasing to God.

The non-Christian is spiritually separated from Him and does not have Christ in their lives. The nature is sinful because of the influence of Satan and the world. This makes the individual an enemy of God and is unable to please him.

The worldly Christian is an individual who has Christ and eternal life. Unfortunately the individual is still dominated by the sinful nature. They are influenced by the world and Satan although they are children of God.

The person has little or no fellowship with the almighty and no fellowship pleasing to him. Although the worldly Christian’s essential nature is holy he opens himself to the influence of world and sin.

Spiritual Growth

We must be yielding to Christ and his word so it fills our life. This includes our emotions, actions body and will.

A growth progression spiritually involves moving forward from worldly lifestyle to spiritual. Our minds should be filled with Christ and refrain from worldly things. This applies to a renewal of the mind that transforms us.

Luke 22:42 if his father were willing…He be somehow spared suffering awaiting him on the cross. But he yield his will to his father’s. Because God is all knowing wise, loving and perfect.

To grow spiritually our emotions should be filled with Christ. The most difficult thing to control is our emotions. We need to yield ourselves to him and live each day with Him.

  • our will filled with Christ
  • our emotions filled with Christ
