How to deal with a stubborn person

Updated on May 5, 2015

Stubborn People

Have you ever experienced those kind of people that just want you to go their way? I will guide you on how to deal with them. Stubborn in the dictionary means: "having or showing dogged determination not to change one's attitude or position on something, especially in spite of good arguments or reasons to do so." Single-minded people always have to go their own way and are determined to stick to their own ideas or goals. They can be hard to deal and also very annoying. There are many ways you can deal with them.

The first way you can solve the problem would be to change your way of thinking. If you consider the way the other person is thinking, you may see that they are right! It may not be always work, but its worth the try. Especially if you want to get your problem solved.

The next way you can resolve your issue may be to take it slow. It may take time to open the mind of a closed mind person. If you have patience and time, the other person may listen to what you are trying to get across your own point of view!

In the Bible, it says that we should love them, pray for them, and have a humble heart. God will solve the rest for you. In Luke 6:27-31, in tells us "27 “But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. 29 To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic either. 30 Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back. 31 And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them." Do good to the ones you oppose, for one day they will be dealt with from God.

Lastly, if all else fails, just let it go. Let the other person win the argument. You shouldn't waste your time trying to convince the person who is not going to listen to you. Get over the situation and move on. You will only make it worse if you add heat into the conversation.
