How to know the existance of God?

Updated on March 9, 2012

God is willing to be found

Often in the Holy Scriptures, God is called Father. He is like a perfect human father in his qualities. Even if you never had a father who took care of you the way he should, you can imagine how that would feel. And then God is a thousand times as good and caring.

It is clearly stated in the Bible that He wants us to search for him because He is not far from any of us! James 4:8; Zephanaiah 2:3

God is just and righteous. He is honest and know all things. If you have tried hard, He knows. If you did not care, He knows that also. Seek Him and he will be found by you. Have an open heart and He will act in your favor. Personally, I have found that there are three things I could do to draw closer to God, I will present them to you in this hub.

NUMBER ONE

In order to "find" God, we have to be humble, honest and our hearts really wanting it. It´s easy to remember: HHH. The very first way is of course the Bible. In the Bible, it is said that God has inspired the writers to pen down His own messages. We can often see, that the Bible writers did not understand what they were writing about. So clearly, it is a very special book from God to us.

There are so many things we would never understand or get insight into if we not read the Bible. First of all, we can learn about the heavenly creatures, the angels and God himself, in this book. We can learn that God has a name He has given to himself, and it is in Hebrew: YHWH. It translated it can be pronounced Jahweh, Jah or Jehovah. The last one is the most used among religions. YHWH is much more than a name only. It is also a promise there, that whatever God Jehovah wants to do; He fulfills. He can be whatever is needed to carry out his promises and prophesies. He wants us to use that name.

In the Bible, we also learn about what is going on earth and in the heavens. Clearly God is not the ruler of our world. All this suffering and sorrows are not His doing. Angels (Greek: angelos) are messengers and they carry out God's commandments. They are working faithfully for Him.
In the book of Job, we learn that one angel started to act against his Creator and wanted to have the worship God should have. He is behind all the problems we have on our planet now, since he is the ruler. 1John 5: 19

All these things are important to us if we want to know and draw close to God!

NUMBER TWO

It is suggested to us in the Bible that we should observe the creation in order to understand God´s qualities. Who is behind what we see in it? I could make a list a mile long here and now, but I will just mention a few, and you have to continue the list by meditating on what you see.

If there is a pot in your window with a plant and flowers in it, you know for sure that pot did not make itself, right! So who made the plant. Did that make itself?
When you hear a child's laugh, a really happy laugh, who put that joy into a child´s heart`
The ability to look at a red sunset and feel this awesome feeling inside. You really want to thank somebody but do not know who. That is the moment you can understand, that God wants you to be thrilled over the planet earth that is our home.
In the spring when all these tiny white, yellow and blue flowers come up on the ground, why do they grow?

And - think every day about this - why does your heart beat? Why can you breathe even when you sleep? Oxygen is in the air by an evloution? Oh no!

NUMBER THREE

The third and very personal way to find God is through talking to Him!
Talking to God about anything and everything is comforting and wise.
We are encouraged in Philippines 4:6 ,7 to address Him with thankfulness, and truth. Asking Him for help, comfort and guidance in our lives. Prayer is one of the things that we should be grateful for. Imagine that you and I can talk to the sovereign of the universe, and He listens!

It is very wise to ask Him for help to understand what we read in the Bible. Then when we see something we can clearly see that it is an answer we needed to hear. He wants us to learn about humankind, himself and the future!

Make it a habit to talk to Him often, and you will clearly see that you get answers and guidance. All is nothing short of a miracle, but it does work. I know.

Yes I do Many feel or believe that fiinndg a treasure of great monetary value is best, but to me? Finding treasures that give me wisdom, discernment and knowledge are of the greatest advantage. And I imagine one of the if not THE wealthiest humans that ever lived this Earth felt the same way, since when God asked him what was of most value or what he wanted he chose wisdom " I want the treasures that give peace .. No earthly wealth of any kind can do that, and if one came close? It would be passing away We know exactly where spiritual treasures can be found. God's word, like a treasure map, points us to the precise place where we will be able to find the treasures that God promised. Referring to the Christ, the apostle Paul wrote: Carefully concealed in him are all the treasures of wisdom and of knowledge The Watchtower July 15, 2009 page 3

Yes and it is for everyone That Would love to be one of Gods Witnesses .(Proverbs 2:1-9) .a0.a0.My son, if you will recivee my sayings and treasure up my own commandments with yourself, 2a0so as to pay attention to wisdom with your ear, that you may incline your heart to discernment; 3a0if, moreover, you call out for understanding itself and you give forth your voice for discernment itself, 4a0if you keep seeking for it as for silver, and as for hid treasures you keep searching for it, 5a0in that case you will understand the fear of Jehovah, and you will find the very knowledge of God. 6a0For Jehovah himself gives wisdom; out of his mouth there are knowledge and discernment. 7a0And for the upright ones he will treasure up practical wisdom; for those walking in integrity he is a shield, 8a0by observing the paths of judgment, and he will guard the very way of his loyal ones. 9a0In that case you will understand righteousness and judgment and uprightness, the entire course of what is good. The Watchtower July 15, 2009 page 3

I apreciate your personal comments! When it comes to Satan and his rule - all you have to do is look out over the world. Can you see war, famine, tears and crying? If God was the ruler would it be so different. But according to the Bible, Satans time is running out very soon!

A very thought-provoking, wise, and inspiring message, Irenemaria, thank you.

On a personal note, I do not think Satan is in control anymore. I may be wrong, but I think Jesus took the reigns from him long ago.

I think, perhaps, that the earth is still infected with demonic influences and there is still evil that lurks in the hearts of men and women the world over.

I do not pretend to have all the answers, but am happy to entertain more of your viewpoints, if you so desire.

May God be with you and yours - C.J. Sledgehammer

P.S. Voted up, interesting, beautiful and downright awesome! :0)
