How To Get Into Heaven?

Updated on June 2, 2016

Heaven & Jesus Christ

Heaven- a place regarded in various religions as the abode of God (or the gods) and the angels, and of the good after death, often traditionally depicted as being above the sky. Synonyms: Paradise , Nirvana , Zion

I am sure we are all familiar with the idea of heaven. Most people, especially religious, find peace of mind in knowing Heaven will be the land of promise after death. I feel the same but I do believe we all go to Heaven and that there may truly be no Hell. But I am not here to just preach my opinions. I am curious what you as a reader may think about Heaven, and maybe a brief explanation on why you feel or believe as you do?

I myself was born and raised very much so christian, and from a very young age struggled with a few key points that I was taught about heaven. These points are as follows:

-Why is it that only Christians, or those that are saved through Jesus Christ are permitted into heaven?

- Why is our time in Heaven preached to be an eternity? (No belief in reincarnation)

Heaven through Christ?

These are both questions that always bothered me. As a person raised in a Christian family and attending church services/ lectures regularly(twice a week, Sundays and Wednesday), you can imagine how deeply ingrained these teachings were into my mind. I feel extremely lucky to have the kind of personality to question everything and not live by "blind-faith." I would ask my mother even as a child what about all the other religions that don't accept Jesus? Do they all burn in hell for eternity as preached in our church? She, (and any member that I would of asked in our church), would tell you with a straight face that indeed those people were going to hell. It made no sense. I would think about other kids like me. Say a Buddhist child, or Muslim child. I would think that their parents and church leaders must be teaching them in the same manner toward faith in their religious views that I was taught by mine. That it was not fair to be punished simply for the way you were raised. I was told that everyone on earth at some point in time would be faced with the word of Jesus and could then accept him as their personal savior, or deny him and burn for an eternity in hell. How harsh! I was able as a young pre-teen to put myself in this supposed persons shoes. I would imagine a missionary of some other faith with some other savior approaching me and telling me that his/her savior was the only true savior and in turn the only way to be permitted into heaven. I knew that I would deny this as fact and not be able to accept his/her claims. This led me to think, "Why the hell are we sending missionaries out there?" If we tell them about Jesus and they deny him as the truth and true savior, are we not damning them to hell? You can see how things started to not make sense and how in my later years and mid teens I made the decision to stop going to church, taking Christianity as definite truth, and began on a endless journey toward the truth of heaven. The truth of heaven, what it was, and how to get there. I do not have all the answers but have a great perspective on the afterlife and the "other side". And let me tell you friend you will be going there whether you like it or not. Whether it is through Jesus Christ or some other means it is irrelevant. For it is through death that you enter unto the "other side". And yes the other side is "heaven".

Now to my next point of confusion as a pre-teen concerning Heaven.

Note: A quote that I live by when concerning God that you as a reader should take into consideration regardless of your religious views, philosophy toward life, etc., may insist upon. The quote reads as follows:

"It doesn't matter how you love God, for the love given to God will open the door to the constant love God gives to you and resonate in your soul."
-Sylvia Browne
Pg.75 The Mystical Life of Jesus

We are stuck there (Heaven) forever?

I will just touch on this briefly. Growing up it was always preached to me that after death I would ascend to Heaven to be there with Jesus Christ and God for all of eternity. As a kid this sounded great! As I got older it started to not make sense and scare me. I would think, "Is my soul really only this many years old? What if I want to come back? Would God say "No"? What is Heaven a prison?

This had me thinking in my later years that God must be more understanding and not as humanized as taught. I think that Heaven is preached from a very human perspective(of course since humans are the ones informing us about it.) That there must be a lot more too it. That we must be able to come and go as we please. Or at least under circumstances be able to come back. There for I always imagined Heaven to be a real place but taught in a skewed version of so by those in fear of death grasping tightly to the peace of mind that the Christian version of Heaven is taught. Which is not a bad version but seems to be a bit untrue. Truly what is the best way to recruit a none believer then by offering them eternal life in paradise. The church capitalizes on fear of death, as well as guilt of life. Life is meant to be indulged upon and lived, within the realm of at least some form of moderation and healthy circumstances.

Any ways, there is my two cents on Heaven. It is worth just that and I would never want to change anyone's mind on such, as much as I would enjoy making you think. Your mind and opinion is very important. Try to question everything! Only go by "blind-faith" when it feels absolutely true to you. Explore your mind, heart, and gut feelings in regard to "truth." If one of the three doesn't comply then question why and search!

Thank you for reading!

If you are a “skeptic,” you may as well be an Atheist or an Agnostic! I Corinthians 10:21 says “Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of the devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the devils.”

You say “ACCURSED?” That doesn’t frighten you? Lord have mercy! You are as MOST Hubbers, an Unbeliever! MOST of them “proclaim” Christianity, but don’t fear the LORD either or they would believe what IS WRITTEN! Hypocrites! At least you are honest enough to say you are “skeptical” and don’t proclaim “Christianity!” However, BOTH are LOST! Proverbs 9:10 says “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” Well, if you believe there is a CREATOR, why don’t you believe what HE says?

You said you believe that Scripture is GOD inspired, but men inspired also. You also said you were raised in a church but they forgot to teach you the POWER of the Holy Spirit! They forget to teach you to “Seek ye FIRST the Kingdom of GOD and HIS righteousness and EVERYTHING would be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33)! They forgot to teach you I Corinthians 4:20 “For the Kingdom of GOD is not in word, but POWER.” They forgot to teach you what POWER is!

JESUS asked the disciples to go into the Upper Room and “WAIT” for the promise of the Father, which, ye have heard from me” (Acts 1:4). They forgot to teach you HE promised HELP in John 14:26 Who would “teach you ALL things!” They forgot to teach you what that Promise would do. In Acts 1:8 JESUS said “But [when the Promise comes.] we would “receive POWER, after the Holy Ghost is come upon you…” It came in Acts 2:2 on the Day of Pentecost!

They forgot! They forgot to “WAIT” themselves, so therefore they could not teach you. They forgot that without the Holy Spirit and Belief in HIS POWER, they could see no manifestations of HIS WORKS which leads to “skepticism” or to remain “lukewarm!” JESUS SAID of the “lukewarm” in Revelation 3:16 “So then because thou art “lukewarm,” and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.”

You’re a BIG BOY now and can know use your intellect to determine if there is “truly” a GOD or whether HIS WORD has been tampered with by men? Really? If you believe there is a CREATOR as you said, why do you not believe HE has the POWER to not allow men to remove what we need to know for Salvation? Even if they do, why do you not believe what HE SAID in John 14:26 the Holy Spirit would “lead and guide us into ALL truth” including any “additions” and/or “deletions?” You don’t think GOD has the POWER? If you would have “WAITED” you would have “direct communication” with HIM and HE would let you know these (ALL) things! I’m sorry they didn’t teach you!

As far as you using your “…brain and personal intuition. I use my mind, heart, and gut. This helps me separate myself from the bullshit.” Really? Actually, it leads you into “bullshit!” Proverbs 3:5 asks us to “Trust in the LORD with ALL thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding” and as long as you “research” man and not allow what you did not “WAIT” for (the Holy Spirit) to “lead and guide you into ALL truth,” you defy what GOD has asked of us in I Chronicles 7:14 which says “If my people, which are called by my name, shall HUMBLE themselves, and PRAY, and SEEK MY FACE, and TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS, “then” will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

We MUST “become as little children” (Matthew 18:3) and rely on what we “should have” “WAITED” for; the HOLY SPIRIT! “That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust” (Matthew 5:45)! GOD sent you Matthew 5:45!!! The Bible just turned to this Verse!!! See how HE “leads and guides?” HOW GREAT THOU ART! (Not speaking of you either!)

Romans 1:25 “Who changed the truth of GOD into a lie, and worshipped and serve “the creature” more than “THE CREATOR,” who is blessed for ever. Amen.”

Thank you for your comment. I like your enthusiasm.

Let me start by saying I am not an atheist nor an agnostic as much as I am a skeptic. I do believe in a creator(God) just not cast in the same light as I was brought up to believe.

I know not all religions believe Jesus is the only way to "get to heaven" but as I was raised in my church this was very much so taught and preached as fact. I believe that this belief and teaching was a direct result of the wrongful interpretation of- John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

I myself am not the smartest human being. I don't have the biggest vocabulary. But I use my brain and personal intuition. I use my mind, heart, and gut. This helps me separate myself from the bullshit . It seems every sentence that you write is influenced directly from scripture. I do not believe the bible to be complete truth. It holds many inconsistencies and was written by man. God inspired yes. But also man inspired.

I respect your opinion and every ones opinion for that matter.

I am going to look into more of this material and do some soul searching in relation to some of the material and points presented to me here in these comments.

Thanks for the info and opinions . I appreciate you guys ! : )

P.S. There are still aton of people that do not believe the earth is round. Look it up. They are called "Flat-Earthers" and surprisingly they have alot to back up their claims.

P.S.S. The accurrsed nonsense just backs up claims that the bible turns religion into a fear based system. Believe what is written in this book or be accursed. Believe what is written in here or go to hell. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sorry doesn't scare me

Of course "a new earth" has been prepared for us otherwise why did HE say in Isaiah 65:17 "For behold, I create a "new heaven and a new earth:.." Revelation 21:1 "And a saw a new heaven and a new earth..." (v5) "...Behold, I make all things new..." (v6) "...I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end..." (GOD SPEAKING)! Revelation 1:8 "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, THE ALMIGHTY" (JESUS SPEAKING)!

I keep telling ALL JESUS is GOD which the GREATEST ALLEGORY in SCRIPTURE for there are TOO MANY Scriptures confirming! HE was only trying to relate to "man" when HE "called" HIMSELF Father AND Son! I Timothy 3:16 {Paraphrasing} "GOD "manifested" HIMSELF in the flesh..."

AMAZING GOD whose "NAME" is JESUS - ONE SPIRIT (Ephesians 4:4-6; I Corinthians 12)!

I don't care where it is, I just want to be with HIM (JESUS aka GOD=ONE SPIRIT; I Corinthians 12; Ephesians 4:4-6; Isaiah 43:11)!

The key to Salvation (being with HIM) is in Ephesians 2:8-9 " For it is by GRACE through FAITH and that NOT of yourselves (WORKS): it is a GIFT from GOD: Not of WORKS, lest any man should boast!"

See how man has been "taught" he must "do" for Salvation when it's the Holy Spirit's job! We under mind the Holy Spirit when "we" try to "do" (as under the Old Covenant) for Salvation. Our HELP was sent on the Day of Pentecost (John 14:26; Acts 2:2) and will do HIS job "IF" we have "FAITH" "BELIEVING" in HIS WORD!

However, if we don't do as Galatians 1:6-9 says we will be "ACCURSED!" Galatians 1:6-9 says "...If ANY man preach ANY OTHER GOSPEL unto you than that we have received (AFTER THE CROSS), let him be "ACCURSED!"

If we don't obey, we will NEVER get to the "new earth!"

For one the bible doesn't teach that Jesus is our way to heaven. Putting faith in Jesus Christ restores relationship with God the Father which Adam and Eve lost in the garden of Eden. Heaven is not our final destination a new earth is. Revelation says that God will make a new heaven and a new earth and He will come down and live with us. We only go to heaven for judgement, whether for reward or rejection, and for the marriage supper of the lamb. There is a scripture that says eternal life is knowing God!

So unfortunately the message of heaven is the wrong one, no matter what religion you look at. The message has and always should be about a loving Father who gave His Son to set us free from our own depravity and uselessness.

Titen: I'm so tired of asking "Unbelievers" to furnish a book that has given as many "ACCURATE" fulfilled prophecies written BEFORE Bible, and to date, none of you have! Let me give you more "proof" that the Bible is "GOD inspired" (II Timothy 3:16)!

It was only in 1492 that Columbus discovered the earth was round but in Bible GOD spoke through the Prophet Isaiah giving "proof" the earth was round BEFORE Columbus' discovery (Isaiah 40:22)! Explain?

Another example: It was not until 1979 that Scientist discovered there were "springs of water" on the floor of the sea but GOD (AGAIN) spoke of "springs of the sea" in Job 38:16! Explain?

How late are you (as Science) in NOT BELIEVING there is a GOD? When Unbelievers speak, they sound very immature (or late/unlearned/uneducated, etc)! I often wonder if they're only trying to "justify" their sins; because they KNOW "Something" created them (man)!

Well, well, well Mr. Luther! It's time you join the "pack" to "justify" doing your own thing too, huh? You're a big boy now with a brain and your knowledge has now exceeded God's? This HUB "How To Get Into Heaven," is but another child trying to find his way by "thinking" he has to find out "IF GOD TRULY EXISTS!" "Big Mistake!" You need to also answer the questions I asked Titen! However, since you were "drugged" to church every Wednesday and Sunday, I know you already know "HE EXISTS" but let HIS WORD remind you!

Apparently, you've grown "too big for your britches" or you have either "not been taught" or "have forgotten" II Chronicles 7:14 which says, "If my people who are called by my name, would "HUMBLE" THEMSELVES..." Oh, Oh! You forgot what "humble" means? Proverbs 3:5 says "Trust in the LORD with ALL THINE HEART and LEAN "NOT" TO YOUR "OWN" UNDERSTANDING..." Oh, Oh! You forgot this verse too?

Doing these things make you feel "inferior?" Well, guess what? YOU ARE! You are the creation, not the CREATOR (Romans 1:25)!

I appreciate you following me on HP and Welcome Aboard but I must warn you, it's going to be a rough ride when listening to TRUTH in HIS WORD from Scriptures I will give! Hebrews 4:12 says "For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Therefore, it "cuts," which It's meant to do for Isaiah 28:13 says It makes one "...fall backward, and be broken, and taken." Therefore, It's for one's own good which leads to "Salvation!"

Consequently, "hang on" because It's for the betterment of your soul and instructions in "How To Get Into Heaven!"

      Again, thanks and Welcome aboard!

Always keep and "open mind" and I pray "...the eyes of your heart be enlightened" (Ephesians 1:18)!

      Peace!

I'd like to think if there is something supernatural or "higher" going on in the Universe and of course I'd LOVE to be able to believe that I will not actually be fully dead when I die and go on to some sort of afterlife... BUT I just don't see any reason to believe those things and see plenty of evidence that all the organized religions and cults humanity has ever conceived of have been exclusively works of mythology and historical fiction along with attempts at creating cultural cohesion and/or maintaining political power.

If there is something out there (whatever that might mean) I suspect it looks nothing like the gods we've invented and probably doesn't care about us all that much, if it's even aware we're here - if it's even AWARE in any sense at all.

Thanks for reading and commenting. I hope there is a God and we will get to meet or understand what God is on the other side. But he must be far more loving and forgiving and far less humanized then is generally believed down here on earth. Seems like on earth God just plays the head role of shitty fear based religious systems. It's a total bummer and makes God seem like a real jerk lol.

The maddening thing is that anyone would want to spend an eternity bowing before the God who is burning their fellow humans in Hell while they got into Heaven. It is bad enough that, as you point out, there's no way to leave Heaven and no true final rest BUT on top of all that they want you kneeling before the throne like some sycophant...

I sometimes ask Christians what they are really going to do for all eternity. Most human beings can't even fill their Earthly lives without periods of boredom, imagine an eternity like that.

It is a good thing indeed that there is no evidence that Heaven or Hell exist and thus we have no cause to believe in such things!
