I Challenge You!

Updated on April 22, 2011

June, 2009--a small group of men met to pray at 6:00am on Thursday morning in Centre Hall, PA. Their purpose was to seek the face of God for their families, churches, and towns--and yes, even America. I was blessed to be there.

April, 2011--that same group of men still meets to seek the face of God for their families, churches, and towns--and yes, even America!

God is working as I have seen Him raise up this group of faithful men to plead their case before the God of Heaven. I have since heard of God raising up other groups throughout the country as well. Historically in revival, God has always set His people to praying prior to sending revival.

I am learning that for the most part Christians in America think everything is okay. They think they are living in a state of revival when in fact God is far from them. Honestly, many that call themselves Christians are not true, born-again, blood washed, blood-bought Christians. We no longer live in the days when people were driven to their knees in prayer, or wept over their sin. We no longer are concerned about the fullness of God in our lives. We have become content just to add His Name to our otherwise pleasure-focused life.

To make the point, I am going to suggest something to you in a few moments. Many will read it and disregard it completely, leaving it at just another idea. Some will read and consider the idea. A few--maybe one or two, may actually put the idea into practice. We are told in James 1;22--"But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only...." What are we to do? Exactly what God speaks in His Word! Among other things we are told this in Isaiah 55:6, "Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near." God will not always be found. He will not always be near. I pray it is not too late.

I challenge you to seek God for yourself and be willing to go all the way with and for Him. I challenge you to commit yourself to a group in your area that is praying for revival. Notice that dirty, six-letter word--commit. You may go for a few weeks and then drift back into your old, careless practices of neglect. Unless you consciously commit to your decision, you will never follow through with it. There is too much at stake and satan will never allow you to go through with it without tenacious commitment. He will fight you at every turn. He will give you excuses on every hand. Just do it! Just be a doer of the Word! There may be a few out there are already involved in a revival-seeking prayer group. You realize that God has surely blessed you, but you and I both know that those participating in prayer groups focused on revival are too few and far between. God wants to set this nation to praying and seeking His face.

I know, I know! There is no prayer group in your area that is seeking revival. I am glad you noticed because here is your challenge. Start one. Yes, you--start one! Go to your pastor and share your idea with him. He will be able to coordinate your effort with other like-minded churches in your area. He can help you work out the details and get the ball rolling. America needs you to do this. God is calling you to do this. Have the courage to follow through. Watch God bless.

Well, what if my pastor is not behind the idea? The sad truth is, he may not be. Many pastors do not have a desire to seek God with all of their heart, and it will be difficult for them to be of much help. They may even see you as a threat to their own spirituality or ministry ( a devise of satan), thus trying to throw water on your fire. I don not recommend rebellion toward your pastor. He has been put in place to help you grow spiritually. I know I must be careful in this matter, but we must also consider Acts 5:29,"...We ought to obey God rather than men." At the very least, register now to join America on July 3rd for The Great American Fast (

The bottom line is that God has set America to praying. God is calling on His people to make a difference in an indifferent country. He has called you to fulfill your part. I challenge you to carry through.

Thanks for this inspiring challenge, we meet with a few people now and then and we pray for God's Word to be opened to us and that revival will take place in the Dayton, Ohio area, and the nation. Well put and an awesome challenge. Amen!

      Apostle Jack,

Let me know how your group develops. I'd like to follow its development.

It doesn't surprise me at all that you're already involved in a group. Even though we can pray (and should) pray privately, there's something about being with other like-minded believers that strengthens and encourages us. As always, your comments are appreciated and thanks for the read.

We are already meeting your challenge here. God has directed us to an intercessory prayer group meeting in our home for the needs of our church. It is not a time we come with our own requests, but first spending time before the Almighty to see what it is He wants (areas) to focus on. Amazing!

Glad to hear it. I'm really concerned about America and her turning back to God. Please keep me up to date with your group. I really want to hear how God is working and blessing His people.

      Excellent exhortation Lifegate! Amen.

Already in one. A group consists of 2 or more even if a group starts with just 2 He is there in the midst of them. Our prayer group started with 3 people and is up to 7. Just told the pastor what was going on. Not a lot of coordination was necessary. Just get together and seek His face.

Your article is also confirming to me about seeking. Keep coming back to it.

Blessed as always by your sincerity of faith.

Thank you very much for your hub. It makes a good reading. The challenge is appropriate at this time. I know that God is wonderful and can do anything you request of him. Just a bit of experience!

Early this year, precisely in January I made a resolution to become more spiritual, that is, to improve my relationship with God. I tried for more than a fortnight thinking about that resolution and trying all things possible to effect it in my life. I tried to focus on the precepts set by Jesus as to conditions for perfect living. I must say without fear that I got awesome experience; things were happening to me that I began to wonder why I had not started that way before. Even till this moment, my experiences and dreams reflect what I had not contemplated. I see a different me and my relations with my fellows.

It'll therefore be fantastic if a group of people could band themselves to seek the face of God both for themselves and for their country. I'm convinced that those who do will bring large dividends to their country.

I hope that the challenge should not be restricted to America. It should be worldwide so that all the trouble sports:Japan, Lybia, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Bahrain, Syria, etc would benefit from the challenge.

Thanks LG for this challenge. A week or two ago and fellow Sister in the Lord at our church and I were talking about this very thing. We have had many of these groups over the years and they dwindled quickly down to two or three people. I was working at the time and could not join them. But I am wide open now and I told her, you know, the Bible says where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst of them. All we need is two or three. And we must all remember that revival starts with me. I will commit to formulating such a group.

You are correct. Many in this nation are living as if everything is okay. This is what makes it so easy for them to go to work, and go to clubs, and go to movies, and live the normal American life without much prayer, without much fasting, without much personal challenge to change their way of thinking and believing. People hardly get worked up over their own sins anymore. They are not, as you said, driven to their knees or weeping. Long gone are the days of sackcloth and ashes. People barely bow and ask "Forgive me." Everywhere around the world, there are people who bend every day in prayer - they are called to it by the law and order of their nations. Can't we be Christ-like and discipline ourselves to such purposeful devotion? Can't we call ourselves to bend in prayer more and more? I hope your message rings true in many hearts - it has mine. Peace

      A M,

Serious, real heart-wrenching prayer is the least we should be doing for the Master. Thanks for your visit and comments.
