- Poems of Hope From the Valley
A series of poems written from a woman who has walked through valley after valley and found hope.
I Have a Peace
Peace can be found, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, there is hope and joy that awaits us when we come through the other side of a dark season of life. Here is my story in poetry. I did find that peace. Allow me to share it with you.
I have a peace
A gentle stream
Wending its way
Through my soul.
Quietly, gently,
It is cleansing away
The silt and sludge
That had built up
Around my mind,
And that had nestled
upon my heart.
The hand of God
Touched a raindrop
And sent it to me
As a peaceful
Healing spring.
He lifted the scum
That hid me from the light
And now the stream
Has brought me life.
I have a peace
I’ve never known
Its glory
I cannot contain.
Oh freedom!
Oh relief!
Welcome to my being.
Stay here for a while
I pray.
And we can play
And sing and dance.
I think I hear the tambourine,
And the singing of the host
Calling me to joy untold
And praising the God
Of love, and strength.
Can this be real?
Not a dream or wishful thought?
I think not
For the peace,
is something
I cannot describe.
But I feel and I know it,
Through the marrow
And my veins.
I have a peace and
I am changed now you see,
Never to be the same.
Or so I hope,
I pray it will be so.
Whatever trial
Or sorrow, or
Darkness
I encounter along the way
His peace will run swiftly
Through me,
And carry me beyond.
