Poem: I hunger for You, Yashua!

Updated on September 23, 2013

Have you ever experience hunger? I mean real hunger!

I was serving in the South African army for two years and during that time we were experiencing real hunger.

For days we did not sleep nor eat. We were in the bush, kilometers from civilization and our food had run out. You came to a place of desperation and would eat any thing you could find to eat.

I told myself that I would never come to such place again in my life, if it was in my hands.

Hunger is one of the most horrifying experiences you could have. Imagine no food for days.

Even worse, when hunger becomes your enemy, it starts to kill you slowly, day by day, moment.

Then I met Jesus and became hungry for Him. I now have the same hunger in my soul!

Here is a look into my most inner longing that can only be satisfied by His Spirit.

I hunger for You Lord.

My being hungers for you

Every thought lingers on You

Hunger pains slowly eating me

The thought of death, easing me

Every nerve, every pain, a step closer

Home coming into Your arms I'll be

Hunger no more an enemy,

to beat a constant pain of death

My hunger much more than this pain

The thought lingers on nourishment

You will satisfy all my needs, You said

A promise I will never forget

Weak and dying, Almost unhearing

I call you Name, Yeshua, Yeshua,

Please give me a hand, I am ready

Slowly bending to the earth, to die

Softly and kindly You come, gently lifting me

Your Hunger is satisfied, my precious one

never remember this Hunger again,

Perfect you will be, come in and see

Pain is gone my Lord, hunger no more

I am whole, perfect in my youth

My skin so clean, so radiant, so white

This new robe made for me, so pure

Drink from the river and eat from life’s tree

Suffering never named in this place again

Abundance is yours forever, pain no more

Loving care is yours, your faith till the end.

Be satisfied forever more, He said

No, Lord you are my Hunger

More than my longing for food, so long ago

My longing is for You, satisfied by You. Forever

It takes a hard soul to turn away when hearing the moans of a dying person. The difficulty comes in when the moans are deafening from the millions of moans all hitting us at the same time for days and months and years without rest. God help us to respond to the horrific things happening around us according to God's heart. Amen.

Such a sad picture! Nice to know that all pain and suffering ends at death and a new better life begins!

Hunger - is it the one true saving grace of mankind? Without it we never find the Source. Amen brother.

Yes my friend, this is burning in my heart, starvation is on us and God will be our sustenance, but are we ready?

This is a very thought provoking hub Louis, and it reminded me of Jesus words when Satan tried to tempt him, as Jesus fasted: "Man does not live by bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God." Matt 4:4

One day very soon, hunger and starvation of the physical nature will be gone from this earth! As will pain, sickness sadness and death. For now--Those who find Christ will be filled with the manna from heaven to their complete satisfaction. And our Lord looks after our sustenance as we seek him.

I love your words: "...Lord you are my new hunger, More than my longing for food...My longing is now for You, forever to be satisfied by You.

      Beautiful offering Louis!
