What If Hell Is Real?

Jerry started in the trucking industry in 1978 and has spent most of his life on the open road as a Trucker Evangelist and Christian Author.

Fact or Fiction

What would you do if you were God and some of your prized creation was in total rebellion against you and your purpose?

If you being a perfect being choose to ignore the rebellion which is causing hurt to others, you would no longer be a God to be worshiped and admired.

What do you do with those whom think that they are the universe and worship the creature more than the creator and have chosen to be in total rebellion for all eternity?

Let’s face it, most people today are in rebellion as Nation after Nation here on this planet are turning their back on God as if he does not exist or even care about his creation.

Many today are quick to make jokes about hell and state that they have lived their lives here on earth in hell and that will assure them that because of this, God will let them enter his Heaven. Most people polled today believe in some type of existence after death.

We have had great revivals break out in history as great men such as Jonathan Edwards would speak on this subject which would cause a great awakening to take place among the people as the Spirit of God would fall upon them causing them to cry out for forgiveness.

Moses spoke of God’s anger against sin fueling the fires of hell.

The Bible does state that there are different degrees of punishment in hell so there is a possibility that the level of intensity will not be the same for all people.

I remember related stories of people witnessing the death of a wicked person describing them screaming and struggling with all their strength as they would beg for someone to pull their feet out of the fire and even describe the ugly demons that were coming with chains in their hands to take them to hell.

I wonder what kind of stories we would hear today if people dying were not induced with high potency drugs?

I don’t know about you but this scares the living hell out of me and I do not know why the Living God would have me to write on such a subject that is to surely bring people to the place of repentance which is not preached much today as some churches have a tendency to forsake this kind of preaching saying it is to negative and makes unnecessary demands upon the people.

These leaders state that people today need a sermon that will appeal to them especially in these changing times when in fact the reality of hell was certified by the living Christ who spoke more on this subject than he did on heaven.

King David declared that the wicked shall be turned into hell and Isaiah who spoke of Israel being re-gathered and becoming a great fruitful nation in the end times said that “Hell hath enlarged itself and hath opened its mouth without measure to meet men at their coming. I could give scripture but my intent is to get us to stop and take inventory of our life. Is my life what I desire and if there is a hell and a heaven and yes, a perfect God who hates sin then do I wish to continue in the life style I am in?

The bottom line to this hub that may determine our eternal destiny is wrapped up in a question?

1. Are we as messengers of God preaching to please people with a gospel that makes no demands on our way of life and lets the flesh stay alive or are we preaching the whole council of God as being led by his Spirit?

Peoples lives are weighing in the balance?

Dear reader, we can look at the rich man in Luke the sixteenth chapter and listen to the greatest preacher of all expound on the life experiences of a man who had all in this life but ended up in hell.

1.This man had everything in this life. He had money, power, and prestige.

2. The beggar who was full of sores lay at his gate desiring only the crumbs from his table.

Let us now see what we can glean from this story which was told as factual by Jesus himself.

  1. The rich man at death is stripped from his earthly body which he took very good care of.
  2. He was stripped from his pagan god’s and beliefs.
  3. He now has entered a world that he was not prepared for.

Dear reader, do you wish to enter eternity like this?

I find a few disturbing things in this story that really shakes me to the core of my being.

1. He still had his five senses.

2. He had a memory of his past life and remembered he had five brothers still in sin.

3. Here we have our conscience to help steer us but there it will be a voice we can never shut up as it continually reminds us of a God that we rejected and wounded. It along with our memory will remind us of the times we played church as we had others pray with us but in our mind we were laughing it off as a game or joke.

4. Here we have a built in switch to cause us to pass out if we are in an enduring situation but there we will be suffering in the torments of a place called outer darkness.

Dear reader, my intent is to cause us to think not preach damnation in this hub but I wonder if we ourselves have family members in this awful place crying out as this man did for someone to come back and warn us of this place of the dammed?

The one thing that sticks in my mind and stands out above all others in this story is the rich man asking for the beggar to come and dip his finger in water to cool his parching tongue. It did not say let him bring water so the water must have been in sight.

We hear father Abraham state to him of a great gulf being between them that cannot be passed over.

Dear reader, what if this great gulf between them could be a lake of water?

I close this hub with the reality of this thought and that is that one day this place called hell will give up the dead yes, these people will be given a resurrected body to stand in the White Throne Judgment before the Living God to be judged according to the life they lived on earth and be cast into the Lake of liquefied fire along with Satan and his fallen angels which have caused so much havoc on this planet.

According to the bible and the words of Jesus, Hell was not created for man but for the devil (Satan) and his Fallen Angels but if God were to allow man and woman into heaven with out their nature being changed, they would not be happy because if they do not like shouting here they sure will not like it there.

My Conclusion

We need only view the world around us to come to a realization that the human race has a sin problem which we inherited through the fall of Adam and that is what's causing all the lewdness and disregard for others that is present in the world today.

God sent Jesus to be the answer for our sinful nature and in the fullness of time, the Savior appeared on the scene and took our sin upon him and fulfilled the scriptures that "He who knew no sin was made sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus".

There is no excuse for us to reject this wonderful plan of God that was kept secret in the Godhead to redeem mankind because God knew that Satan would enter the garden and tempt his greatest creation to fall into sin.

1 Peter 3:18 "For Christ died for sins once and for all, the righteous for the unrighteous to bring you to God".

Which side are you standing on and is what you believe good enough to die with?

I think "spiritual terrorism" is a bit extreme and harsh. This was a very interesting hub--one I actually finished reading. I wrote about the topic of hell as well. Very interesting subject.

Sword if I am wrong then I am still ok but if you are wrong then you have lived your whole life believing a lie and that is not enough to keep you from standing before your creator who is sure to have an attitude concerning you and the ones you led astray.

Luv u teaches but hey ck out this book by Lee Strobel who was a Yale graduate and journalism who went on a search to unmask Christ and find the real truth and ended up becoming a believer. It is called "The Case for Christ".

I often think about family who demonstrate a lifestyle void of this reality: hell is real. Prayer and living a life reflective of Christ's message is key in making the light attractive to them. Thanks for the words of wisdom and how we must concern ourselves with living right and reaching out to those who need to hear the truth.

      Good morning Jerry.

I agree and wrote on this subject as well.

The thing many Christians ignore is that we need to share the gospel and when nessesary to point out to others when their wrong ways are leading them to hell in a which emulates the way Jesus did.

      God bless you.

What a much needed awakening for all of us who have family members who do not know Christ and we don't know how to talk to them. We can talk about Christ easier to a stranger than to our loved ones who are unbelievers . thanks for your words.

Thank you for such a sobering hub on this subject. I just finished reading Hebrews 10:31 where it talks about what a terrible thing it is to fall into the hands of an angry God. I urge anyone who reads this hub to strongly consider what it says.
